Had a friend in the shop 2nite. I have put up the slot car dragstrip and now can do.."Laps", as a return track!. So we are playing and had to put in a CD on the old laptop, with massive speakers! Damn! So I toss in Ten Years after, "Alvin Lee in Tennessee". Made last album, as died. But the Original Woostock? DAMN! As think it now! I was in Nam 69, and ..Damn .."I went home by Helicopter!..(to a Freedom Bird and then "home"! Enjoy what .."was"..RIP Mr Lee!

I just listened to Operation: Mindcrime for the first time in about 10 years. Can't believe I forgot about this masterpiece!
For those not familiar with this album; it's by progressive metal band Queensrÿche. This came out in 1988 and is similar to Pink Floyd's The Wall in that the whole album tells an on going story. Here's an explanation of the album. --->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation:_Mindcrime

Ya had me thinking last today, "Highwayman" Thought of long ago, ..'Deep Purple..Highway Star". But need to do this tonite. In 1970, just out Nam BS..short stay Ft. Sill OK, then off to Germany. Well we went to a "ALL DAY" music event, General admission in some stadium in Frankfurt. Four bands, people with coolers fulla beer! SWEAR when the doors opened? Just pick of the ground feet, and get carried in! BUT? Started at 1 PM, and last man standing was at 11PM! What else but the last band, "Deep Purple" "Smoke"!

Funny too as there then, smoking "Hash"..was the way. NEVER forget the "pipes", getting passed down, probably never seen again, but no big, as a new one coming at at ya anyway!

Great day, just don't remember much, as simple.."ya had to be there! This 2 years later...

Little trivia! Hard to believe, but 45 years ago today! Days of scratchy vinyl and 8 tracks. Heck, recording not that bad either!

Dec 30, 1968:
Led Zeppelin captured live for the first time in Spokane gym

Within a year, they'd be big. Within two, they'd be huge. And within three, they'd be the biggest band in the world. But on December 30, 1968, the quartet of British rockers preparing for their fifth-ever gig in the United States were using propane heaters to keep themselves and their equipment warm while they waited to go on as the opening act for Vanilla Fudge at a concert in a frigid college gymnasium in western Washington State. A few serious rock fans in attendance had at least heard about the new band formed around the former guitarist from the now-defunct Yardbirds, but if those fans even knew the name of this new group, they might not have recognized it in the ads that ran in the local newspaper. The Spokesman-Review of Spokane, Washington, ran an advertisement on this day in 1968 for a concert at Gonzaga University featuring "The Vanilla Fudge, with Len Zefflin"—a concert of which a bootleg recording would later emerge that represents the first-ever live Led Zeppelin performance captured on tape.

At the end of the now widely available recording known as Gonzaga '68, Robert Plant can be heard introducing himself and his bandmates—John Paul Jones on bass, Jimmy Page on guitar and John Bonham on drums—to a smattering of applause. But some of those who were in attendance that day remember their reaction as being stronger. In a Spokesman-Review article published 29 years after the night in question, Bob Gallagher, a teenage record-store employee at the time, recalled the show's opening number: ""Bonham came out and started drumming on 'Train Kept a-Rollin'," Gallagher said, "and everybody went, 'Holy crap.'"

"What I mostly remember is when Jimmy Page took out a violin bow and began bowing his double-neck guitar," said another concertgoer, Jeff Nadeau. "The house was universally mind-blown. It was the most stunning and awesome sound ever."

There is nothing raw or un-Led Zeppelin-like about the sound captured by an unknown Gonzaga student on a small, portable tape recorder that day. The Gonzaga '68 bootleg features the band performing tight and thrilling versions of some songs that are now considered classics but were then unknown to those in attendance. Indeed, halfway through the set, Robert Plant introduces one number as follows: "This is off an album that comes out in about three weeks time on the Atlantic label. It's called Led Zeppelin. This is a tune called 'Dazed and Confused.'"

Well as been 50 years now me, NEVER forget doing home work the dining room table, "transistor" radio on!
Probably me 13 then but this simple blew me away first heard! TRUST me...back then the whole "music scene changed". The "Blues", went to 50's rock and roll. I have a 10 older bro who was one those "50's Elvis/freaks, and my dad loved the "big band music", and him and mom were "polka and Square dance types" My dad was a radio and TV repairman too and besides his shop tv's were on everywhere the house, basement, garage being tested. Always something on. Might as add here as Jay Leno "MIGHT" give up the Tonite show, ya gotta give the guy credit..(met him many times on Harley events, and never spent the dough on nothing but "Leno's Garage?" My kinda guy, and we same age too!):thumbsup:

Have to admit as a kid, remember the "Tonite show", as was allowed to stay up and watch Steve Allen, Jack Parr, Johnny, Jay.........;):thumbsup: Been a great run all. But I digress,

Me and another girl took first prize a dance contest next vid after I was out Nam, early 70s. Plus I saw Tull live downtown Chitown...First song? 1 hour and 18 minutes.."Thick as a Brick"! Worn out crowd, thought its over? NO WAY! Ian Anderson comes back and sez.."Now for my second song?" 4 HOURS total concert! (I could not stand on one leg, much less play a Flute...for a minute!). And he's still at too...?

Every song me has a story. Heard a "oldie radio" today. Chris Issac. Reminded me my old friend Billy Battle. Billy married a cute girl. Had two kids, but she got hit with cancer, and passed before 30 years old. Long to short, me and Billy would meet at Sturgis annual MC Rally..camp together, both us then out Illinois. New girl now. One morning when I woke up, hear the coming song blasting out there tent. When over.."GET UP AND LETS RIDE"! Anyway, we rode the Black Hills all day, think 1992/3. But it was the last time we road together, as was killed a MC accident soon after. RIP .."Billy"...(PLUS?..if ya never been the rally campgrounds, meet people that ya only see once a year, and always a "seya next year..same camp ground?" Yep! Then after the "day ride" fire pit going, girls doing what girls do..(feed the maniacs), and we sat down and simple BSed what we done the last year. Ya all now what meant.."BSing the camp fire"....and it don't get any better than that! Rock on..

Seen Supertramp back around 77-78 at one of the 2 outdoor shows they had at Calgary in the football stadium, was awesome had a huge screen behind the stage playing various films as they played. Was pretty amazing for the day.
Month before was Joe Walsh and the Eagles, Joe was quite the entertainer.

Got that right! It damn aint like it used to be. And very few newer rock bands get me excited. Friend mine that lives close me, plays Bass in a CCR/Oldies tribute band...always put on a damn good show!

Dude a damn good friend mine lives a block away. Regular daily job, LOVES hunting and fishing.(as his cute wife), but plays with the Randy Linder band..(tribute band, CCR, any old greats..(ya gotta hear them..Segar.."Rambling Gambling man! etc..). And he plays a 5 string bass! He's in the background coming vid. But a sad part about Randy..(lead singer). His wife in her 40's, died in her sleep. Couple years back. But ya gotta see there little boy when he "playing along" with them, on a plastic guitar. Gotta teach/em young! And Ricks kid"" Patrick?

At 15, 16 now? He can do a PERFECT intro AC/DC..alone, to make Angus Young proud.."Thunder"

OK, as this been driving me CRAZY.."who did that?' Then is..(oh know, another story me?). But deserving to "Sue..(Fast Phils other half). Fast here me. 45 years ago, us crazys did a 1968 "Senior Class film", Orig Super 8, then on VHS, now me DVD. It's NEEDED to go to Y/T. To share. Asked Sue to do it for me, and said hard drive full..need a new drive, and no money. Said how much what ya want, my dime. $135. DVD, and the check to her, in the mail tomorrow. I've NEVER met "fast Phil", never met Susan....but thats OK. We are all.."brothers and sisters" Anyway the background music in the vid? FINALLY nailed it down..
