Be remiss with the GREAT 70's "hair bands"...that needs a annual post this time of year. (Memorial Day idiots will be out so "off the water me"..but a 12 pack and a lawn chair, wet swimming GR dog with me the boat launch. Always VERY entertaining! Rock on...

Dave

Dave "then" was .well..then. The locals cops there, blocked off streets for racing, and if saw ya weaving leaving the 2am close up bars, would pull ya over. Say simple "GO HOME NOW, and I'm right behind you to make sure". Now its "seatbelt cops" (yep, thats progress"..or should say ..$$$$)

But heres one thought of today. 'At the Zoo". Funny me as our 60's HS was adjacent to the famous (Illinois) Brookfield Zoo! I lived about a mile from it. Simple zoo, HS, then a forest preserve, the river, and me. I could hear the lions roar a hot summer night as the windows open. But we had 3 Reunions, "at the zoo". Ironic as we were all.."animals". Great times...

But that's "new A.C DC." lol. What happened to Bob Scott.?

Dave

Here ya go, AC/DC story.
Within months of recording the album Highway to Hell, lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980 after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly considered disbanding, but buoyed by support from Scott's parents, decided to continue and set about finding a new vocalist.[4] Ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was auditioned and selected to replace Scott. Later that year, the band released the new album, Back in Black, which was made as a tribute to Bon Scott. The album launched them to new heights of success and became their all time best-seller, selling over 10,000 copies a day in its first week.
Some more..(thats Brian Johnson later, and hes a solid gearhead too"..

AC/DC underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, High Voltage, on 17 February 1975. Membership subsequently stabilised until bassist Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams in 1977 for the album Powerage.

The band's next album, For Those About to Rock We Salute You, was their first album to reach number one in the United States. AC/DC declined in popularity soon after drummer Phil Rudd was fired in 1983 and was replaced by future Dio drummer Simon Wright. The band experienced a resurgence in the early 1990s with the release of The Razors Edge. Phil Rudd returned in 1994 after Chris Slade, who was with the band from 1989 to 1994, was asked to leave in favour of him, and contributed to the band's 1995 album Ballbreaker. Since then, the band's line-up has remained the same. Stiff Upper Lip was released in 2000 and was well received by critics, and the band's latest studio album, Black Ice, was released on 20 October 2008 and was the second-highest-selling album of that year. It was their biggest hit on the charts since For Those About to Rock, eventually reaching No.1 on all charts worldwide.[5]

AC/DC had sold more than 200 million records worldwide, including 71 million albums in the United States alone, making them the fifth-best-selling band in the United States and one of the world's best-selling bands of all time.[6][7][8] Back in Black has sold an estimated 50 million units worldwide, making it the fifth-highest-selling album by any artist – and the third-highest-selling album by any band. The album has sold 22 million units in the US alone, where it is the sixth-highest-selling album of all time.[9] AC/DC ranked fourth on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock"[10][11] and were named the seventh "Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time" by MTV.[12] In 2004, AC/DC ranked No. 72 on the Rolling Stone list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".[13] Producer Rick Rubin, who wrote an essay on the band for the Rolling Stone list, referred to AC/DC as "the greatest rock and roll band of all time."[13] In 2010, AC/DC were ranked number 23 in the VH1 list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".[14]

Dave..over 15 TIMES AC/DC? Ya one lucky SOB! Thing is I knew "rock and roll, 60's". Then in Nam in '69?. Seem things changed, Nam war. Music wise? Hell, I dunno, just lived it. BUT! The music made AC/DC"? (unknown me for years after Nam, like middle 70's.)..this was done while (think), the Nam war was going down.Thing is who EVER shoot this footage, add the rockers? Theres plenty Nam **** I care less to see, AC/DC, but this kinda covers any war we are in "still" But still wonder if song thought up "because"...WAR..? Anyway.....

Robbie seen Bon twice, then Brian the rest. Grew up in Calgary, AB and a lot of bands made sure they stopped there on a tour. Still think 2 of the best shows I went to were Queen in 73 at the concert hall in Calgary and Blue Oyster Cult in the late 80's. Back up band was loud distorted noise BOC came out twice as loud and crystal clear, great show. Eagles and Joe Walsh in football stadium was cool, month later Supertramp. So many good times.lol

Heres a couple. First one is Def Leepard. When the drummer lost his arm..(search it). Well back in the 70's on the Fox Chain..(think Blarney's Island). We were on Pistakee, and one night..(our channel house, was 200 feet to the "Happy Ours"..resort. GF lived there..(parents owed it) She ready to close the bar at 1pm, and dead M/T..just me.

So here comes a car load people. Laura ready to lock the door, lights out. "Come on in". One the dudes says can ya whip up some pizza, and a lotta beer? Gonna shoot some pool now.

Well, Laura is white as a ghost! Says me.."Do ya know who that is?".."the Def:". (And the dude can shoot pool one arm too!)

She did pictures beer them in the pool room, pizza coming, locked the door, lights off outside, and said stay as long as ya want, and the "tab", is on me. They left at 3am. Did we bother them, autographs, a pic? HELL no! But they had a good time, as me and Laura.

Plus I need to get today.. .."stoned"..

Thing is back then, as I'm NOT one to ever "bother rock people", even if met later. Like the resort. They just did a gig one the many Fox Chain clubs. Simple wanted to relax somewhere. "Out the noise". Laura simple said them.."I know who ya are, but leave ya alone here..enjoy" ZERO questions them, etc. We just shot some pool, a simple regular bunch in the bar.....just BSing normal..."corner pocket 9 ball". Or beer on me.

Laura was a BIG fan rock concerts. Never missed a "Journey" concert..(she was in love with Steve!) as any Heart concert. (damn Ann and Nancy?...voice and guitar?..."WOOF"

Dave, I have to admit you are one super rock "aficionado"! Hope the latest in life pass's on, and all is well in life.

Sorry, but I gotta argue on GT, "Who do ya love". When I lived Illinois, rode with the Chicago Outlaws (MC)

Never "prospected, never a "patch holder", as not my style. I'm a SOLID.."Independent". But bought a HD Bagger off one. And I proved my "worthiness", to get invited to the annual party, clubhouse, just before I moved west coast. GT and the Destroyers, were the band. If ya EVER saw GT, NOT in the limelight, concert. Damn, they were as wasted as the rest us, and ZERO "PC crap" them. As no "rules there". See him live and private?......"freaking energy!"

Aint heard this in awhile, but (and don't get me wrong here, as I'm NOT thinking "Little people", as some my best friends are "little"). Heck, in Grammar school there was a "Dwarf" girl among us. We would carry her across the street, as was a really slow walker, so we got her out any traffic. But my friends later! I have pix us, in the 80's in SoCal at some LP Benefit golf tournament. "Little Joe", and brother Eddy played in foursomes, 3 regular size guys. We spectators were sitting up a hill one the holes, and and golf balls start landing. So here come 3 guys now in view, and soon? Here comes Billy Barty! That guy was the funniest guy I EVER meet! At the banquet that night there was this big breasted, BIG woman, walking around with Billy "stuffed in her dress, IN THE CLEAVAGE!" Looked like a talking puppet shoved between those boobs! Simple me is look for the good in anyone..as some might have ya on the rug laughing yer azz off. (and 1/3rd size you too!) Anyway..(RIP, Billy!)

Gotta tell ya story this guys. End 60's HS, they were a garage band our (next town) our "rivals in kids crime!..(ya should have saw our "Football" Homecoming game. They had to play us. Night before over night, they COVERED the front the school with more crap than could EVER be imagined! Guess went around stealing ANYTHING they could! R/E signs for sale, ripped out traffic signs, and the best part? The cops (cool then), simple blocked off the street so we could see it real before the game! Insane stuff they shoved in the ground! BUT, the BEST? MIDDLE THE ROAD? All kinds blinking construction yellow light signs! And ?..(the best?..)

FIVE "Porty Potties" middle road! Damn kids, when life was "Merry Prankster FUN!" Damn right we won the game too.
Anyway, one of the few 60's "garage bands", did good. Great people too, knew them HS.......

Survivor is an American rock band formed in Chicago in 1978. The band achieved its greatest success in the 1980s with its arena rock sound, which garnered many charting singles, especially in the United States.

What sill has me thinking is Floyd. 3 guys started it, like ZZ..(funny too on ZZTop, they did the first "Harley the "Homecoming" Summer fest grounds Milwaukee, 1988 85th Bday HD. And Kid Rock opened (think), or 5 years later...but ZZ was the headliner. But as most concerts ever gone to? ALL standing? HA! Many bikers have done a long ride there from all over the country. Concert ZZ started, and as so worn out crowd..just wanted a seat to sit down! Maybe 30 girls front, up and rocking..(and had to seat 10,000 too). Damn, "gotta love the REAL bikers" Just honest people out for a ride, and a "excuse for it too! (and "school never taught me any book, "Teacher"), as tossed out HS smoking in my car, parking lot 68. Said fukit. I'm going the Nam (or Mom said to me..and hit home too... Funny later as now there free smokes, beer, bullets? Guess ok to get my azz killed, or another, but tossed HS for "smoking a cig in MY car?

But I'm a slight "hyper" type that can't sit still. Damn, before the internet, never even KNEW words any song! Didn't care, but the music ?..."gotta dance":D

Probably my age thinking back now. (Not like I DIDN'T live the best times life, but today's "music"

3 vids ROCKING coming. Don't know if the order I wanted to post comes out right, but after Nam 69, first concert USA, what else.."Black Sabbath" and Wishbone Ash opener. Soon after was a outdoor motorcycle biker private party (bikes only in, and better be Harleys too, or jap bikes were tossed on the bonfire night!). Headliner was "Humble Pie".

Last vid what else. AC/DC. Set to my times in Nam. Probably why I was so "wound up" back in the states now at 21. I "did the Highway to Hell" 69, but I got out not in a box. And if think putting down a old pet is tough? Try doing a year in Nam, ready for the "freedom bird home", but ya have to say to those still with time in country, who "had yer back"? REALLY tough to say.."take care"...but some did not make it, and I got friends from there on that "Black Marble Wall". Nuff me..mems kicking in.......

...Served back in the 70's here. Picked up pilots that were "target fixated" and had accidents and were shark bait. Saw a bunch of friends killed on the Forrestal and have seen the ghosts on the ship in what we called the "Time Tunnel" that runs from aft and goes up forward past the officers quarters towards the forward cat water breaks.

Guess what I want to is salute those that have served...and well....

..that's some good stuff Robbie321! Here is of the same genre some of our Texas blues players. I used to hand out in both Galveston as well the Third Ward up in Houston and catch the shows. Shoot, I was the only white guy there at most of the shows but I guess they figured if I was crazy enough to show up that I was cool! Partied with Stevie Ray and the guys from "Double Trouble" along with Jimmie after they played the American Legion on HWY 3 in League City,TX back in the early 80's.
We ended up at some house on Dickinson Bayou, raising heck in the boats, and I almost lost my job with GTE as I showed up for work three days later. Good times.....

....here is one for you "Mercury" guys. I have and "Older than Moses" 3.1 225ox66 on my Skeeter 22 bay boat and an old junkyard "'Rude" on the Contender but even though this song pertains to old Merc's it ought to also be applied to those of you that run those black engines on your go fast boats.
Local guy that hit the big time Mark May. Played my old Gibson Explorer through my 1966 Fender Baseman as a pre amp into my Mesa Boogie and wanted to buy the set up. It's not for sale!!

Enjoy....

Might be a good soundtrack for the videos that I am sure will be taken this holiday weekend for you "Black Motor" guys!!!

Big blues freak myself. Back 70's Illinois, great blues clubs to hit. B.L.U.E.S on North ave, white side of town. And the famous Checker Board lounge black Southside. Lotta whites afraid to go there, but crazy girl I knew dragged me there, and she knew seems everybody! Treated us just fine. I knew the Jimmy Johnson Blues band, and would sit back behind the drummer when they played. Can't find much on him, but they damn sure rocked the house when wound up. Plus here every Sat/Sun night, 6 to midnite NPR radio. Does nothing but old blues!

Dude I LIKE any telling a story (text), that has some meaning the song posted, and why it was slammed into a "toe tapping brain!" Theres some damn great unknown garage bands, etc. This thread was started a long time ago and got wings. As now 500 + pages, I asked Greg..(boss S+F) for "maybe a sticky" He said sure thing.

But as drizzled here today, cooled off, out in the shop. Tomorrow is "Harbors Days" here PNW. Be out in the boat. Tug boat races start noon. 3 heats, 6 wide tugs coming by full speed at 20 knots. The FINAL? Few years back, "Foss Marine" with a BIG AZZ TUG..(and I mean HUGE!). raced the final.."IN REVERSE" Yep, kicked azz others! But the fun part there is..well, simple "Americana"..mom, apple pie, baseball...AND? Soon to come is 10 foot "rollers coming at ya!"...just a lot of great fun!
And hit 6 me now "blues" on radio. Gotta find a new one. BUT?

Robert Johnson was a master..(way too many people think the 60's, 70's rock bands had the orig thought? Nope, as done long ago, just kicked up a notch, same song. That "crossroads dude is a WIZARD of real ya posted! RJ..

Dude! Great VID! Born 1950, and saw all in the vid! Did RT 66 from Illinois to Ca, 3 times the 60's with parents, see my dads brother there. Later a DC3 plane there, then the "Connie" Low and slow and scenic ride. Then the first 707 Jet. Dad HATED IT! As "can't see chit!
On the rides? Older bro had the new then, 1953 vette. Dad and all were gearheads. Friend mine 60's, had a 1st Gen Camaro. A worked over 350 stroked out, and "truck springs azz end", big tires. Only a 3 speed, but show front tire daylight slamming second! Beast. But was kinda wondering why no HD"S? Been riding them for 55 years. OK, last saw! Great vid dude..EXCELLENT!

Dude, I will never forget the 60-70's. "Muscle rides", "smoking in the bathroom/I'm 18" girls took there "boulder holders off"..(bras), cops were yer friend, not yer enemy. Then 69 to Nam? Whole new world dude, and ya grew up fast.."and REAL".

But what REALLY amazed me in Nam? The "aged in country"...(like a few months), and told us "greenies".."what we say as been here to damn long this hell hole, just shut up and listen, or ya going home in a body bag. And also, a friend mine HS, went.."green beanie" 67, before me went there. He was one TSB HS, kick any azz. And I'm out in the shop, and have a bandana hanging here. What is it? "MAC SOG", "Special Forces" And for the clueless, MAC SOG, is.."Military Airlift Command, Special Operations Group"

And I also live in the flight path into McCord AFB. Many new choppers (way to many "blades") do a fly by, but once in awhile, hear that 2 blade Huey, "wop, wop, wop"...and mems from 45 years ago hit! War goes away with age? Calling BS.........its forever but its a life. And I'm damn glad to live it!...but I digress...AC/DC..(Bon Scoot on bagpipes?)

I also have a shizz load of old posters.
You know, the ones we used to pull off the telephone poles back in the day. I saved most of them and it turns out some of those old bands I used to sneak in the places to listen to them at times hit the big time.

Yep, cool old artwork! In winter on a rainy day, I'll hit the Goodwill and look through whats there. Never know what the vinyl might be like, but I found 'Brothers, Family Style" that seems never been played! SRV and Jimmy V on the cover. Can't beat it for a $1.50! And a friend mine down the street has a "few" old vinyl".

Dave

Dave, thats some friends down the block. Him and the wife are pro dancers. They used to live on a boat in the town marina, so close to town and the dance clubs. Thing is sometimes when the mood hits we start doing shots, and "guess that album" he will pull out that stack (and he knows EXACTLY where every album is located too!) He will walk 10 feet away and show the back cover. Of course they both know, but I gotta think. Hmmmmm? Old rock me. If no clue flip to the cover still far back, me glasses on. What band now? If got that..(we all do shots Tequila, wrong answer me, as need an excuse for getting stupid anyway) Then if that right answer? WHATS THE TITLE SONG! Lotta fun if I can remember. What ever I drove there, bike/scooter/van, usually walk (ok wander) home the 5 houses to me, get the ride later! But as to continue yer "colledge of musical knowledge"? Just what band did that album front showing bottom, red and yellow script? I know it, but driving me nuts as can't remember!

Plus 10 years back, some damn cool couple "kids" real "Deadheads" Funny too as lived across the street from the "Platters" now. They moved though. Damn, I gotta relate a story "Billy" first. He got nailed with testicle cancer soon at 30. Then spread to the stomach, then lungs, the throat, last in the brain. He battled it 15 years, and yep, he's alive and well now. 3 foot ponytail long gone, and the brain surgery has his head look with a road map, scars. But dammit as if that enough "rough life"? His GF left him as could not take it anymore. But Billy had a Siberian Husky called "Fluffy", and grew up with my passed Golden Retriever. But I had to put "Dusty" down with cancer at 9. Well Billy was in remission now, and alone 'cept for "Fluffy". And the doggy was soon the end of life. He knew it, and took the dog to the ocean to watch the set set on the beach. They shared a couple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, watched the sun go down. Dog helped back the ride, and soon the vet and the "needle". On the ride back, he went to take the dog out at home. Well, it passed in its sleep, back seat. I can't think of a better way to go.."Been a great day, thanks..but my old ass is tired and "going home".

He had over 600 Cassettes (see the progression away from vinyl here..then CDs coming soon) on a floor to ceiling rack! So there 20 years younger than me then, 30's them, me 50's, and turned ME on to some the new stuff! Lotta the same old rockers I knew now with new bands. Plus more never heard of. He has one tape he gave me for "hot tub music", as a mix. But one still has me "wondering, old blues" OK, one the songs was the old Blues not "Dusting off my broom", but "Dusting, dusting, dusting off the broom..lemme see if I can find it. But for now?..Second one if my fav "shop music!"

Well, ya beat me to it! Its ironic that I was gonna post some Social D. Thing is a gearhead friend of mine here, and "gearhead" wife, just came back Monday from Dallas. Social D freaks. They were playing at the Gas Monkey Bar and Grill. He never saw RR, but spent some time BS Aaron K. Said he's a short little chit that really knows his chit! But Amy asked if she could buy one the 5x6 posters up the place announcing Social D. The girl said, "we just toss'em anyway if not wanted...no problem, free. See me after its over". It will soon be in his shop or pool room soon. Plus saw him Wednesday, and had on a "what else", Social D T shirt! Rock on!..(plus think thats a new one here too, any Social D!)

Gotta show my "age"..(even if aint 65 yet!)" But I remember when MTV on cable came out. Friends mine 200 miles north Madison WI". First saw was "Radar Love", but the vid, which I can't find now. But they had to go some dinner event, and me and the GF had the "fold out" L/V. Ken "start a fire if ya want, (winter, and cold out) OK, seya later. What he did NOT tell me "open the dampner!
So I started a fire, and got down to "serious needed on the fold out"...(no way playing "Yahtzee either GF") Soon? House fulla smoke!(wasn't her or me, but?)..whip open any sliding doors, any window! So Ken and Sally come back and say..(finally..)..OPEN THE DAMPENER? "NOW ya tell me!" Friends 'till the day even if decades ago us kids".

But every time I hear a oldie? Seems I got a story when.."first heard".
