Damn..remember my mom, taking me and my cousin, to see the flick here, probably early 60's...maybe I was 12 years old. Also remember, building a model battleship, that I took down to the river near me, and I set it on fire, and gave it a "push"..out into the current!
Too much fun..(also the last boat I set on fire, over 55 years...HA!..gotta love youthful stupid!)

Friend of mine here, regular 9-5 job, but weekends, plays in a CCR tribute band..bass player. I told ya him before. I stop over there a few back, we BSing the porch, dogs playing in the yard, and this guitar blasting, is coming out the rear bedroom. Say..WTF is that noise, kid playing records? Says ..NOPE...thats him on the guitar! Remember him in diapers, and need to get a vid him off Rick..kid has talent..heres a vid, not him, but this kid can PLAY! "Don't mess the youngins"..know more than we do!

Probably done, but I remember, WAY..back in the 60's, think 67, at 17, they played at our HS, back Illinois, in the HS basketball gym...as the only place big enough for the "dances"..tossed. And as "some "..might remember, its was NOT called a "Sock Hop", for kicks..as ..NO SHOES ALLOWED THE BASKETBALL COURT!" NEVER WILL FORGET, the dudes, in the bathroom, doing the "Brycreem, the "head do"..front wave, was a mandatory..to be "cool!" Why the "Do Wop"? Well the dude , who is into it, was here now, just left.. got a few years on me too..(old fart)..and we have done rides together. Rides a Harley, but also, ..(don't ask how meet, but had zip to do with our lifes "style"..which is funny, as he was a career .."MILITARY JUDGE!..he put smartazzes like me in prison!..(I still call him .."Kernal"..in emails!)..but we did the the Olympic Nat Park "loop", and a 10 day ride down to NorCal..the pics here are from .."the loop", and Mt .Rainier. here. And I'm at sea level, and the "Hurricane Ridge?...Oly Nat Park...? There 2 hours. Same to Mt Rainier. Anyway, him and the wife..(super cook!).. are solid into DoWop, 50's old farts.. and thats a .."good thing!". Its simply too freaking cool in the mountains, on a bike! and the music...(damn, what the hell happened?):eek::p

Also should add here, I got a old gearhead friend, back Illinois, who does mobile "DJ'ing". BUT, not just a mike and a stage...(WHICH HE DOES, AT MANY...VFW, all "soldier" events, has a side show, with a few others, do skits/sing...old Rock and Roll. He's does a GREAT..Bobby Darin, impression! With a good voice too!. BUT, HE BUILT A TRAILER, TO BRING TO PICNICS! And what was it?
A 8x16 FOOT Copy of an old cassette player! The thing looks like a massive old player, at 16 inches! Foot to an inch build! Thing is, massive power and huge speakers, but the fun part, he ..HE SITS, AND SPINS OLD R/R..where the old cassette door was...(still is, he opens it up do do his stuff)..! looks like "Lilly Tomlim", in her skit in that massive rocking chair!:thumbsup:
Need to grab a pic it...think a FB friend has one...he can play R+R...but a pic/puter unload?...zero..but thats OK me...he can ..."rock the crowd!"

Oh yeah, remember him from the "greaser" years, middle 60's, and he was 2 years older than me, and also dated his younger sister..(a tiny CUTIE!".)

Like the old "Native Indian". music, as it has something the white boy don't get, but grabs yer gut feeling!
A few years back, I went to the "Super Saturday"...here, an all day "very Liberal" college here. Grads are now out, campus is like a free for all, small "Woodstock". Lotta fun, LOTTA FREAKS!" Many bands, food, weirdo's..(well, kids like I was at one time?)..but there were this ..I guess?...Indian band playing the sidewalk, not a main event.
Damn, I was MESMERIZED" ..the music, the many flutes, had a CD for sale, $10...and bought it.
Its good listening too, some days out in the shop...think "soothing music"..like crashed out after a long days motorcycle ride, and find a motel room, with a rushing mountain stream, out yer door. No vocals, just handmade flutes, that make it worth hearing... gets into yer soul!..

One more, but diff band...(should I say "band"..or simply "culture"? Remember one night in Sturgis, Biker Rally.....
I was on a side street outside Sturgis, some motel, parked with the trailer, as then towed a friends Harley, for the 50th "biggie"..and my old Shovelhead. Reason the tow, was his wife, and kids needed to go to. She followed us in the ride, and they stayed in motels. I slept in the van, eye on the bikes. So I'm sitting on the trailer, and some drunk Indian comes walking by. Says.."ya gotta smoke?"
So we get to BSing, as he brings up a sad story, him drinking too much, no job, etc. I was just out a rehab myself, sober as a "sober..if ya can find one"..a judge.
We BS'ed an hour. I told my story, him me. I talked him into giving me his half done bottle rotgut, poured it down a sewer, said, "go home...talk to your wife and friends..you need help, and it comes from others..but ya need support..and bet they give it to ya".
I damn sure aint no saint, but I'd like to say I talked some sense into him. Indians have a terrible alcohol problem, know many still, here..but they been so freaked over, ..well, now talking over, Casino's...and the good thing? They book the old fart Rock and Roll BANDS!, .."and thats a GOOD thing!"

In case no one knows, Grand Funk, Mark Farner anyway, went "religious", back in the 80's. A friend of mine, battled cancer big time, and lasted years, but after the second Mayo visit, stopped by my house. He got very into the church, , and got much closer to God, as he was terminal, and needed "piece of mind", that might save him, as Doc's could not. Tough dude, GREAT SKIER..damn good honest friend...even drove his motorcycle out Illinois, to the Mayo clinic. hundreds miles north. Asked nothing from anyone, and had a rough life. No dad, SUPER Mom, sister never even talked to him, real witch, he was married, but the wife left him high and dry, could not handle the constant medical stuff, took the daughter, and left him. All he was left with, last I saw him, after a 20 year battle cancer..was his house, and his Golden Retriever doggy. And only had one leg....(other cut off to stop the "C"), and he just came out of brain surgery, more ripped out..."plaster skull cap"..and in a "chair", when I saw him in 2006, ride back east. Ha gave up living, 3 years ago, but way back in the late 80's, he gave me a cassette...Grand Funk....."can't beat God, and rock and Roll!"
But he had damn good friends, and thats good enough..still miss him...real people, and hard to find, and seem many go early..but.."we do need a new supply "Angels"..don't we?
Anyway, sorry the long post...just remembering an old friend...RIP, "Billy Boy"...heres later Grand Funk........

We have a LOT of Tribal owned property/Reservations here, Western WA. All they had before for a life was fishing it seems. Extremely poor, run down, when you would drive though one.
Seems of late, its one casino after another, and they are massive! And have firework stands everywhere, selling better stuff than the state run junk stands. And sell smokes and beers cheaper than the state run stuff too. Now they are making a good buck, and that sure builds pride, which is inherent with them. I get along fine with the Indians here, MUCH better than any politician!
On pride, I think its passed down generation to generation, and many 'Elders", to watch over the young. Take care of each other, not like the one parent, or double worker, daycare society we run....:reddevil:

Agree, RACE IN PEACE..is for the young, real any age, who died in an accident. REST IN PEACE..is for the ones who suffered in sickness. Makes darn good sense to me.

Now ya gotta think Bongo's here, Yep, did a SoCal visit, from Illinois, Rt 66 roadtrip, see Uncle and Aunt, probably back in the late 60's. did a trip to Tijuana ..bought a bunch of "cheap junk"..(that worked!). STILL REMEMBER MY AUNT!...be 95 on April 20th, still a "sharp cookie". We did the border back, and remember, my Aunt, saying after showing some "Bongo's, some rugs, just stuff"....."thats all we bought"....after over the border, she had a sweater on, she whips up the sleeve. 12 DAMN WATCHES ON HER ARM!:D

HELLO..anybody home? Rock on, and dance!.(did that last night..ended up at a party last night, just down the street, couple that are dancers, lived on a 40 foot boat years, house now, they have over 300 VINYL old time records, super sound system. So we sat around, BSing, 4 us, mine and the neighbors dogs..(like beer too!)..drinking beer, doing Tequila shots, laughing our ass off, doing the behind the back, "pull", a record..and see what comes out! Too much fun..got home at 2am! Tired, last blasting was Jethro Tull, "Locomotive Breath"...Noon wake up, hung over..saw one neighbor today..was there..shut down the fun at 4am! Damn old farts RULE!

O Tay....(think Eddy Murphy here..Sat nite live), getting no response here, but gotta say, its been a gas, the thread. I'm out of steam here, "old stuff"..and made the winter fly by also. Just "unpickeld" 2 motorcycles, fired, cob webs blown out..boats getting uncovered soon..so leave ya with this..and no, aint going away here..just "stuff to do, outside!"
Been a gas, ya kids are great people, in my book on life, and we can pick up the thread, next Fall. But, again...its been the "best times my life"...hugs, best wishes a fun summer, lets go outside and DANCE now...pick up the thread after, we are worn out, summer.
