That's nothing, mate. You should open up a google page and search "ca battery storage plant fires", "ca battery storage facility fires". Sadly, There's enough to keep you reading for hours if you can spare the time. And of course, that's just CA.

Yesterday, google's AI gave a pretty good synopsis and that was just the most recent fires, (there have been more, of course). I was going to paste it in just now. But google has taken it down. It was not a good look for the politics of using massive banks of lithium to store energy.

The obsession with lithium is bizarre, when it comes to fix base, large storage plants. Of course you have to use lithium for cars, and even lithium is too heavy for boats and airplanes, but for land based fixed storage, it's hyper-expensive and prone to thermal runaway fires and environmental disasters, lawsuits from people sick and injured in their homes from toxic fumes, etc... Anyway, the high cost and unsuitability of lithium for fixed base mass storage, makes one wonder if our politicians are using taxpayer money to make their cronies rich.

(probably because most existing boats that are specced for 180hp, would be over USCG weight or nearly so, with that combo).

-They took down their specs on battery capacity and weight

-They did add a new boat to their lineup that might be fast enough to plane, (hard to say). They did give a battery spec... 43KWh: That is 57 horsepower for one hour, from full to empty. Boat weighs 2300lbs according to their web site. The rest of their boats use (essentially) trolling motors, are heavy, and are displacement only, not planing.

-You can still buy the Four Winns (AFAICT the only manufacturer that actually sells a boat with this engine/battery combo), H2e. It's got 180hp and a 70KWh battery. That's good for 94hp for one hour, from 100% to zero dead in the water. And it costs double what the petro version of the same hull that can run all day.

So not much tech change in the last two years, other than to take down (or hide) some specs so people can't run the numbers.

A while back I maintained a road race car. It was a Ralt chassis with a Cosworth 4 cylinder (pinto) that ran in the "C roadster" class. The driver / owner would tell me how he won his class at every event. My Porsche peeps told me one day ... that was the only C roadster in Florida ...
To be the champion / record holder in a one horse race .. well, I would be embarrassed to even mention it .. let alone have some marketing firm make it out to be a big deal .. LMAO

So that first "record holder" got switched back to gas after .. what, 2 or 3 miles .. if electric was so good ... why didn't it stay that way.
No doubt this next one will suffer the same fate ... One thing is for sure ... neither land CRAB nor noli will be buying this one after the event ...

Waitwut? Why? I don’t keep up with this particular operation. I only run numbers as I get them, to see what is physically believable and what isn’t. They didn’t say anything about this on the Vision Marine web site.

So what happened? Is the battery Hellkat program terminated? Moved to a different hull? Moved to a different motor? Overboosting the same motor more than they did before? Was the original Hellkat hull holding them back in their pursuit of speed records? Again, nothing on new their web site. Just last year’s LOTO shootout stuff.

Cuda provided a link, but no tech and no synopsis on the current state of the program. Me? I just want some numbers I can run.

A few pages back, I posted a link to a for sale ad for the record boat and it had been converted back to gas.

Set their “record”, got the press, then turned it back into a real boat.

Got it, thanks. I was confused when Cuda said something recently about how they are going for new records. And posted a link. But there is nothing in the link that mentions that they sold their boat. Or plan to get a new one. Or set any new records. Nothing. And isn't LOTO coming up any day now?

They actually broke two records @ the same time!

Record #1, Fastest electric powered boat.

Record #2, Fastest conversion of an electric powered boat back to something useable/sale-able.

So far, your links are useless for information on the Torrente/Vision racing program. They don't even mention it.
All we have is your good word for news on the subject.

oh cudes… I followed your link. It shows Shaun as a throttle man for an S-2 boat with a couple of 300R’s. It doesn’t say anything about his side hustle dabbling with battery boats at LOTO.

So far, we still have just your word on Shaun’s dealings with Vision. Not that we don’t believe you. I believe you anyway. Believe it or not. Just keep reporting to us on his battery boating. Because the Vision Marine site was saying nothing as of this morning.

Here's something to do if you need to crunch some numbers ...

Look at the date he joined this site. Then look at the post count.

Add the "likes" and "thanks" together that have been given to him .. then divide that into the post count.

What percentage did you come up with ......
