Per the google AI machine
About 28% of pickup truck owners frequently use their trucks for personal hauling, while 32% rarely or never do.
Explanation
A study found that 28% of pickup truck owners frequently use their trucks for personal hauling.
However, a significant portion of truck owners rarely or never use their trucks for hauling.
For example, 75% of truck owners use their truck for towing one time a year or less.
Similarly, 35% of truck owners use their truck for hauling once a year or less.
Many pickup truck owners admit they don't actually need their trucks.
They use their trucks for shopping, errands, pleasure driving, and commuting
EV's are very practical for a large swath of commuters. Better/ worse than ICE? Guess that's up to the individual. The lack of charging infrastructure doesn't even affect that many people, as most drive well within the limits of current EV range, where they can easily charge every night, not even needing a high amperage charging station.
Some anecdotal research of mine. Dealership row is on my bike ride route, and I frequently pop in to see what inventory looks like. Gotta laugh at all the used trucks without a scratch in the bed, and perfect paint on the inside of the receiver. I think what you dont see, is that people like you and me are the exception, not the rule. I personally feel hybrid is a better path, but thats just me. And I think some really cheap EV's are soon to hit the market, if BYD in China is an indicator. We'll see.
And Musk/ Tesla welcome the removal of the incentives... Now that it doesn't benefit them. I'm pretty confident where Thune got his marching orders. Wake me up when they call for the end of carbon capture credits.Last edited by John S; 02-15-2025 at 03:14 PM.

I did use two qualifiers in my statement about obvious choice. (1) Cost parity. Assume the ICE and EV are more or less equivalent in cost/interior space. (2) Most users. Most people don't tow. I have never disputed that EVs are poorly suited for towing large things long distances. Not that it can't be done. One of the neighbors towed a U haul from Vancouver to here with his Tesla Model Y. Better him than me.

It's bad enough the world has to trust people like the "VI" with those little pint bottles of pre-mix for his weed eaters. There is no way Saun Duffy would ever trust him with a hydrogen-demodulator in the trunk. Not even a baby one.
POTUS Trump has legally changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Those last minute, clandestine bills that FJB's handlers had auto-signed forbidding drilling in the gulf are no longer valid, since it no longer exists. So it's drill baby drill once again.
Chaz = thinkin, if the greentards don't wanna be looked at as hypocrites, they should have to charge their golf carts via. solar of windmill. Otherwise they should STFU about saving the planet or whatever else they lie about ...
Top 1 was is kinda cute for a girl to drive ... well, wuz ..

WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, April 4) -- A controversial former Democratic Party fund-raiser has told federal investigators that China's chief of military intelligence funneled $300,000 through him to back President Bill Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign,
Johnny Chung has told investigators that Gen. Ji Shengde ordered the money transferred to Chung's bank account with the specific objective of helping Clinton's campaign, according to sources familiar with his testimony.
The sources say only a portion of the money ever made it into Democratic Party coffers.
Federal law prohibits financial contributions to political campaigns from sources outside of the United States.
Word of direct involvement of a high-ranking Chinese official in Chung's fund-raising activities, first reported Sunday by The Los Angeles Times, comes on the eve of a visit to Washington this week by Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji. We have invented the world; WE see

This was to show support after you loons firebombed the Tesla dealerships and cars in their lots.
The guy is volunteering his time and expertise and the whackos try to destroy him and Tesla!
BTW, he is sending his boys to space, to retrieve our boys that have been stuck there for 9 months.
Rumor was, Musk offered the same to Obiden but since he and Trump were friends he wouldn’t do it.
In a recent interview w/the astronauts, a journalist asked them about that and before they could stop him, one admitted that did happen!
I heard Posie Odonnel had room on her moving bus to Ireland for you whackos!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

APE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — NASA’s two stuck astronauts are just a few weeks away from finally returning to Earth after nine months in space.
Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams have to wait until their replacements arrive at the International Space Station next week before they can check out later this month.
They’ll be joined on their SpaceX ride home by two astronauts who launched by themselves in September alongside two empty seats.
During a news conference Tuesday, Wilmore said that while politics is part of life, it did not play into his and Williams’ return, moved up a couple weeks thanks to a change in SpaceX capsules. President Donald Trump and SpaceX’s Elon Musk said at the end of January that they wanted to accelerate the astronauts’ return, blaming the previous administration.
But Williams, in response to a question, did take issue with Musk’s recent call to dump the space station in two years, rather than waiting until NASA’s projected deorbit in 2031. She noted all the scientific research being performed at the orbiting lab.We have invented the world; WE see

I dunno mate. I don’t follow politics as much as you obviously do, (maths and science are my things), so I’ll defer to you, but didn’t your side and your lefty billionaires raise twice as much money as Trump’s campaign?
In any event, the bigger issue what it sounds like you’re saying about Musk. If he’s an American citizen, isn’t he entitled to the full rights of citizenship? I wasn’t born in America. But I married an American and am a citizen. I don’t feel as if I only have partial rights. Do you think that there should be tiers of American citizenship, where full fledged American citizens who earned their citizenship by jumping through the hoops, should be considered lesser-than?

Peter,
Do NOT try to understand or reason with the gardener. He can't accept the fact that America ordered this change and that the vast majority are very happy with the fact that Trump is doing what he promised. Elon was the gardeners hero before he publicly admitted his strong support of common sense side of politics. Look up his old post when he told everyone that he had trucks ordered, his brother drove a Tesla and it was by far the best, he owned large amounts of Tesla stock, and was a total E.V. cheerleader. You can take everything he says or predicts, and verify that its 180 degrees from the truth or reality "he puts it all in writing". I have never had a problem with E.V.s but definitely had a problem with the government telling me that I had to buy/drive one. The other thing that I strongly apposed was the tax payer funded incentive for E.V. purchases which Trump ended.
You are 100% correct that Trump won on a fraction of the money spent by the Demos., Elon is a brilliant business mind who is donating his expertise and resources to save our country from its unsustainable spending and borrowing. Anyone with an once of business sense knows that we were headed into bankruptcy and printing money is a hoax that will self poison any economic system. News as of yesterday; Inflation dropping, mortgage rates dropping, energy cost dropping, and the overwhelming majority support Trump, his team, and their actions.
I commend Elon for all that he is doing- People like the gardener really do a great job of being self-descriptive; "idiot to the core", is a great catch phrase for them while we the patriots will stick with MAGA.
Joe
