I guess people have a hard time with reading comprehension,

Several companies have worked out new formats with battery technology,

The problem is gearing up something to make billions of them cheaply,

Like you said David several major car companies are now testing solid-state battery packs,

They are developed , get that through your skull.

A: The QuantumScape separator material is a ceramic capable of meeting the key requirements of high conductivity, stability to lithium metal, resistance to dendrite formation, and low interfacial impedance. These are the key requirements to make a lithium-metal anode, which in turn enables high energy density, fast charge, and long life. The ceramic itself is non-combustible, making it safer than conventional polymer separators, which are hydrocarbons and so can burn. The formulation of QuantumScape’s material is proprietary, but it uses earth abundant materials with a continuous-flow manufacturing process, which we believe will make it cost-effective at commercial volumes.

We have fuel cells, but not in SUVs yet (I was going to write ‘cars, but cars barely sell now). We have solid state batteries in pacemakers, but also not yet in automotive.

It’s hard to make predictions, especially about the future, but smart people are investing buckets of money in solid state battery development.

You should see the money that has and continues to be sunk into lithium ion.

Apparently now we have domestic lithium, which I guess will be even harder for solid-state to compete (on cost) with?

Stellantis is incorporating Factorial's solid-state batteries into a demonstration fleet of all-new Dodge Charger Daytona vehicles based on the STLA Large platform.
These EVs will be on the road by 2026, representing a key next step in bringing solid-state battery technology to mass production.
    Ever heard of...promises, promises?
It's always just a few years off in the almost forseeable future; only the cost never comes down and nobody ever hears why the pilot/demonstration programs dry up and blow away like dust.

Twenty-five years of "production" battery electric vehicles and you're still going on about how it's "all about to change"... they've actually gotten uglier. Period.

So… Where on their web site can we buy one? They don’t have a product to select or a shopping cart to put it in. They are like Vision Marine. With a 180hp outboard and battery… And no way to buy it because won’t (or can’t) sell it to you.

All factorial are doing is regurgitating fluff that we already know about the advantages of SSBs if they ever come to market. Which have been known for the past 200 years. We all know what the advantages are. What only some of us seem to know is the problems with developing them into something someone could buy, and affordable enough that you don’t have to be Elon to buy it. Right now they are neither.
