I guess people have a hard time with reading comprehension,
Several companies have worked out new formats with battery technology,
The problem is gearing up something to make billions of them cheaply,
Like you said David several major car companies are now testing solid-state battery packs,
They are developed , get that through your skull.

Quantum scape looks like the leader, An American company financed by European's
Imagine that, European's financing development in the USA not in there own country's
That is a statement of reality
the best minds and chance for development are in the USA
A: The QuantumScape separator material is a ceramic capable of meeting the key requirements of high conductivity, stability to lithium metal, resistance to dendrite formation, and low interfacial impedance. These are the key requirements to make a lithium-metal anode, which in turn enables high energy density, fast charge, and long life. The ceramic itself is non-combustible, making it safer than conventional polymer separators, which are hydrocarbons and so can burn. The formulation of QuantumScape’s material is proprietary, but it uses earth abundant materials with a continuous-flow manufacturing process, which we believe will make it cost-effective at commercial volumes.
QuantumScape is an American company that develops solid-state rechargeable lithium metal batteries for electric cars. The company is headquartered in San Jose, California and employs around 850 people. Investors include Bill Gates and Volkswagen.

We have fuel cells, but not in SUVs yet (I was going to write ‘cars, but cars barely sell now). We have solid state batteries in pacemakers, but also not yet in automotive.
It’s hard to make predictions, especially about the future, but smart people are investing buckets of money in solid state battery development.

Apparently now we have domestic lithium, which I guess will be even harder for solid-state to compete (on cost) with?
Vast deposit of 'white gold' in Arkansas could be stunningly valuable

sigh... they still don't know the difference between a kw and a kwh, (do you?) and they're an electric boat company. when i first heard the owner saying it a couple of years ago, i pointed it out here, but kind of gave him a pass on it be a he seemed all excited. but now they've put out a video with the same idiotic mistake. and nobody there knows enough about energy, power, storage, and electricity to catch it in edit before embarrassing themselves. It’s beginning to look like, no wonder that Shaun moved on.

10-28-2024, 10:23 PM #1677Ever heard of...promises, promises?Stellantis is incorporating Factorial's solid-state batteries into a demonstration fleet of all-new Dodge Charger Daytona vehicles based on the STLA Large platform.
These EVs will be on the road by 2026, representing a key next step in bringing solid-state battery technology to mass production.
It's always just a few years off in the almost forseeable future; only the cost never comes down and nobody ever hears why the pilot/demonstration programs dry up and blow away like dust.

So… Where on their web site can we buy one? They don’t have a product to select or a shopping cart to put it in. They are like Vision Marine. With a 180hp outboard and battery… And no way to buy it because won’t (or can’t) sell it to you.
All factorial are doing is regurgitating fluff that we already know about the advantages of SSBs if they ever come to market. Which have been known for the past 200 years. We all know what the advantages are. What only some of us seem to know is the problems with developing them into something someone could buy, and affordable enough that you don’t have to be Elon to buy it. Right now they are neither.
