If carbon was actually a pollutant rather than a vital nnutrient, some of these "green" ideas might make sense...but it isn't and they don't!

"New passenger vehicles are 98-99% cleaner for most tailpipe pollutants compared to the 1960s. Fuels are much cleaner—lead has been eliminated, and sulfur levels are more than 90% lower than they were prior to regulation."

Increasing CO2: while whatever warming has occurred has been too little to tell if it was CO2 or natural, FOR SURE there has been significant greening. According to radical right wing blog, NASA: Carbon Dioxide Fertilization Greening Earth, Study Finds
It's greening by a lot, too. The Sahara is losing desert like mad.

In other news, according to the other radical right wing blog, NPR:
Fires from exploding e-bike batteries multiply in NYC — sometimes fatally

Fire in New York high rise caused by E-bike. 43 injured.

FDNY says 175 Li-Ion fires this year so far.
Anyone who thinks that insurance companies are not going to catch up to this, is smoking something I'm not allowed to smoke, even if it's legal.

Chaz, there is a guy on OSO talking about building an elec powered boat for a shot at big #s.

A VERY smart dude that I will not doubt.

He says he’s actually surprised no one’s done it yet.

    He thinks:

    25’ w/elec power should run 155+.

Ill kept you posted as he posts more.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Ps, just saw Ford raised the price on their elec f-150 for the 3rd time since it’s release.
    Its now + $15k since it’s release.

Was at my bank the other day and parked my internal combustion car in a spot for elec w/a charging station and wondered how stupid these people are?

How long are you normally at the bank each stop?
5 mins, maybe 10, worst case?

Any of these idiots have a clue what 10 mins of charging will do for their spitter mobile

Most folks I know are fairly reasonable and levelheaded. They, as I care about the condition of the planet that we leave to our children and grandchildren.
However, the way over the top left wing views (and rules) do nothing but put the United States at a bigger disadvantage in the global economy on a daily basis.
No .. ??? Try to get Russia, China, Indonesia, India and the Congo to adapt our rules into their way of doing business. They could give two xxxx's about you, me or the environment. Those who stand on the soapbox and beat the drum for "clean energy" now, are just showing support for anti-American communist regime's.
The future that the ECO-freaks see is not next week, next month, next year or even in the next decade. At best, it's 50 to 100 years away. American politicians that have put the cart in front of the horse by declaring war on the coal and fuel industries only show how disconnected from reality they really are.
As I have said before, if you want an expensive, around town toy thats not really good for much else, then by all means .. go buy a Tesla.
If you think your saving the world, bare in mind that it takes fossil fuels, coal and nuclear power in it's production, and shifts extremely hazardous material mining outside of our peripheral vision, only to be stuck with them once their usefulness has expired. Short sighted and foolish for just a look at me, look at me, moment.
Cell phone battery's are bad enough, a 1200 pound car battery is just pure insanity.
Building a 150+ mph electric boat will take what . ??? A 2000 pound battery. So if that boat crashes in a fresh water lake. That battery splits open .. you gonna take your grandkid to that lake next week to swim in the ...

Just spent two days with a relative who is a top big wheel for Delphi. His quote "Biden admin. is giving us an open checkbook to make battery efficiency better". The money they are spending for autonomous vehicle development is absolutely breath taking. He has made it 100% his personal agenda to defeat and destroy fossil fuel and any machinery that relies on it. These guys are off the charts with demands from vendors and although they are improving, it won't be a reality in Joe Biden's remaining lifespan. Something else to ponder "why is Barack Obama still living in Washington D.C.?" All he has ever done is bad mouth it in the past and traveled away from it on our tab.

Solid-state EV batteries without expensive lithium made possible by magnesium conductivity breakthrough

<figure class="news-teaser-image" style="float: right; padding-left: 0.8em; padding-bottom: 0.8em; text-align: center; width: 245px; margin: 0px;"><source srcset="/fileadmin/_processed_/webp/Notebooks/News/_nc3/Tokyo_University_Magnesium_solid_state_battery-q82-w240-h.webp 1x, /fileadmin/_processed_/webp/Notebooks/News/_nc3/Tokyo_University_Magnesium_solid_state_battery-q82-w480-h.webp 2x" type="image/webp"><figcaption class="csc-textpic-caption" style="font-style: italic; text-align: left; caption-side: bottom; display: inline;">Magnesium's conductivity hits solid-state battery application level (image: Tokyo University of Science)</figcaption></figure>Making solid-state EV batteries without the rare and expensive lithium could become reality as Japanese scientists discover a viable alternative using magnesium ions. Magnesium is cheap and abundant and the long struggle to improve its conductivity in solids has finally overcome the material's shortcomings.
    <aside class="nbc-right-float nbc-right-float-hide"><aside class="introa_whole" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 0.89em; overflow: hidden; position: relative;"><nav data-nosnippet="" id="introa_content_1880722" class="introa_content" style="opacity: 1;"><article>

    </article></nav></aside></aside>
Researchers from the Tokyo University of Science have cracked the code of using plentiful magnesium instead of expensive lithium in the next generation of solid-state electric vehicle batteries. The decades-long magnesium conductivity hurdle before replacing lithium as a solid-state battery material has been overcome by adding organic materials and an accelerator. Junior Associate Professor Masaaki Sadakiyo explains the breakthrough as follows:
In this work, we exploited a class of materials called metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). MOFs have highly porous crystal structures, which provide the space for efficient migration of the included ions. Here, we additionally introduced a "guest molecule," acetonitrile, into the pores of the MOF, which succeeded in strongly accelerating the conductivity of Mg2+.[/COLOR]
As a result, the typically low level of magnesium ions' conductivity in solid materials at room temperature, has been greatly increased to reach the 10-3 S cm-1 threshold required for tangible application in solid-state batteries.
This superconductivity of magnesium ions may have thus hit a record, but it is the minimum required for practical solid-state battery production, so the team of Japanese scientists is now focused on improving the conductivity level of the new magnesium-based material even further.
Unlike lithium, magnesium is not considered a rare earth material and is abundant in the earth's crust. Moreover, Elon Musk recently urged lithium mining companies like the Australian ones to go into refining, too, as a "license to print money," since battery-grade lithium refiners are few and far between and most of them are located in China.
Swapping lithium for magnesium in solid-state batteries will allow electric car makers to escape the near-monopoly of Chinese lithium refiners, as well as significantly lower the per-unit cell cost of the promising technology.
Solid-state batteries have many advantages before the current chemistries, mainly in terms of safety and durability, so any breakthrough research that makes them easier and cheaper to make is welcome news for both the major electric vehicle makers, and their future customers.

if there was green power then hydrogen will be the only carbon neutral power source for mobile transport.
Where is the world are electric cars not powered by coal?
The faster the take up the more we pollute.
