Not really. As with people who “chip” their ICE cars while making no other mechanical improvements, all Porsche is doing is eating into margins that were already there. Most likely safety (fire) related margins. The only way to make something better without actually making it better is to redistribute what is already there. In fact, if you look at the chart in your own link, the model with the longest range already, gets ZERO range improvement out of this. I know why that is. Do you? I have already given you the hint you need, in case you are struggling for the answer. Otherwise give us shout and I’ll throw you a life preserver.

Early in the EV movement, before politics turned against petrol, Honda did a lot of research into FCV cars. But being a fuel cell it used petro fuel to generate electricity. So no matter how good fuel cells are or are not, they have an uphill political climb added to the technical challenges.

I don't recall there being any workable fuel cells running on petrol and air. Lots of effort but no success. Honda fuel cells run on hydrogen and air.

The NASA type shown would be fine other than needing a supply of cryogenic oxygen and hydrogen. A mishap with those would make the lithium battery fires seem trivial.

Fair point. But where does scalable hydrogen come from? Electrolysis is not scalable without pre-Carter-era nuke. That leaves petro as the only scalable source of H2.

No need to be pedantic. I think everyone know the least expensive source of H2 is derived from petroleum. And even that isn't cheap.
