Tricks that old racers get up to after retirement

The black & white photo of Cees eventual flip is a Brian Dewey photo. I remember Brian and I talking about the first corner and first lap, before the start of the race. I mention you better be prepared, I knew it was going to be exciting, but I did not envision the poor circumstance for Cees vander Veldon.
Have to disagree with you on that one ROY———— it is the bottom floor of the Torriggia workshop!
Engine on the big odd boat in the foreground is an original Silo. They were all binned long before that. They were floating about in 1969———— in 1970 the Cowbell was running strong in 1973 they were running Vee Sixes!
We all thought it was „Andre Dierx who was the first to fly, but later footage showed it to be Bobby Herring!

Pruett ran the big boat pictured above in 1971 at Paris powered by the C6. Testing at Lake Como showed the C6 pushed this boat a few mph faster than the Twister I.

Georgio Molinari raced OI (90 cu.in.) and did quite well. Don't know for sure, but when I first saw this picture I figured that was his boat with the 1000 BP on the far left.

Pretty sure that he ran a Twister 1000 for the 72 Paris 6 Hour. Roy Ridgell installed Georgio's 1000 BP powerhead on a Twister housing and used the silo exhaust log, Roy's idea of a NED motor. Believe Georgio won the OI class and finished in the top 10 overall.

OK...so you put each spark plug boot on each terminal, fasten the ground wire to the block, put three finger from each hand inside the circles and then tell your buddy to roll the engine over on the starter. If you have never danced before, you will now...

...only reason I ask 1969, is it was a one year only thing(1969), that the model number sticker was on the cowling top side. Could just be a mismatched top cowl piece there...

I've never seen one like this before. I had one where the arcs simply crossed a small board. The arc gaps were adjustable. Nothing with sophisticated tips. Either way, as kids we had a much simpler set-up in Cub Scouts. Old antique telephone generator. Everybody took turns holding the leads or turning the crank. Our Den mother never knew it but to get in our den, you had to do the "telephone dance".

ROY ———— Cant remember which of the Ridgell boys we „BLOODED, in Montmarte, Friday night before the Paris six hours ?
Stickle, SEEBOLD, Schubert Uncle Bobby , think Maybee Welch was there and me. We took the kid to most oh the whore houses in Montmarte. After the third Glass of wine He was out of it and oblivious as to what went on around him. Damned if can remember Which one it was .
We were a pretty despicable bunch weren’t we ?
