Yesterday, Jan 30th, was Jackie's Birthday. Our great pal would have been 93 years young.

As you know, Jackie was a man who reached out to hug his world of friends - be they his closest, long-time buddies, or new and enthusiastic virtual acquaintances.

I know all who visit his string on S&F miss him dearly, so let's follow Willabee's lead and raise a "Cup of Tea" and shout, "Bloody Hooray!, Happy Birthday Jackie!"

I didn’t meet Jackie until a couple of years ago, but he was a very impressive individual great sense of humor and love to debate any point on earth. Happy birthday Jackie RIP

The last time I saw Jackie was 2019 at Tavares Florida.

Jackie a man not without an opinion and story.

grew up watching gene race in Miami as a kid along with a couple of my other favorite drivers Bill Sirois and Gary Peacock. Gene could do it all and was a local legend. I was just a local racer and was happy with just getting a second or third place trophy in the tunnel boat racing in Miami Stadium in round Florida. These guys raced on a national and international scale! GENE was one of the greatest Switzer pilots of his era and I was privileged enough as a young man in 1969 to go to Havasu with him and other local legends like Jeff Titus and Wally Qualman and Jock Horner. What a great experience growing up around racing and people like that. Best always Amber Jack

I have known Gene for over 60 years and he was always one of my heroes. We both had careers in the fire service and raced here in South Florida at the same time. Gene's more than 42 year retirement is a mark that I will almost certainly never reach. RIP Gene.

I still come back and browse through these threads, by far they are the best part of this web site. Godspeed Gene. I doubt there will ever be another time like what these men lived through.

That is certainly true. I count myself as one of the lucky ones for being a small part of that era.
