You don't have to go to a FEA shop to access or use the software. Its an add on to most CAD software these days and its cheap. The idea that if it breaks it wasn't strong enough and then make it stronger sure as hell doesn't take FEA software. We all have been doing that since hector was a pup. FEA analysis requires load/force data as input to work. I sure hope someone doesn't think the loads on a race boat are the same for the Paris race as it is for the Parker race or the loads are the same with Ron Hill driving vs Tommy Posey. FEA is a wonderful tool and I have used it since the early 70's when you had to construct the mesh work manually and a simple run would require the IBM main frame to run all night long. I say again, the result of FEA is only as good as the load input.

John is that with homogeneous materials I assume you are talking? If you are taking steel yes very simple process thats downloadable.
Its not a bracket or metal engine component its a monocoque.
Does the drop down box have every combo of composite materials, cloth, weave angle, resin, foam density etc etc, I dont think so?
I think these guys had a business for a reason then good enough to be bought out after years of consulting answers that clearly you couldnt download

Ok you guys—— you’ve proved your point——— and I have to admit——- you’re smarter than the average !
Im lucky, partly because I always knew my capabilities and limitations——— my problem is——- I love to “Discuss”—— (Argue then, if push comes to shove).
You can take every one of the equations——- Homogeneous and Composite materials——- bracket and metal component material for the monocoque——- tensile and tinsel, testicle testing tomolites constructed by Roger the robot, in the end——— the guy who takes the finished article —— out on the water and gives it the first shakedown will stand up in front of you——- give you an honest to God opinion of what’s wrong with the damn thing———— and I absolutely guarantee that it will be far more accurate than a thousand print outs from “High Modulus Molecular Monsters” could ever hope for!
JUST SAYING ,!

Your NZ company is a composite material company that was bought out by another composite company. I'm not sure what that has to do with the price of tea in China. My point was, FEA is only as good as the input loads, regardless of the material you are trying to analysis. Its those loads that have hundreds of variables on a race boat. Weight, water conditions, speed, load distribution, etc, etc. You get the point. Even if some one could instrument a race boat; which I doubt they have, conditions change and so do the loads. Its back to the old, if it breaks make it stronger. If it doesn't break make it lighter.
As Jackie said enough.

There ya go Gene——-Hows that for a sixty footer ?——— think it’s long enough ? —-
So—— seeing as how it Never was——— you want outboards or stern drives ?
Just did a count of all the concepts I have on the go at once——NINE——- that’s over double the amount I ever had on the go at once———- I got APACHE——-CIGARETTE——FOUNTAIN——FORMULA—— A couple of tunnels and ten made up stern drives and 24 400 R’s drawn out ready for the new blade!
If I disappear——— you won’t have far to look——— I’ll be up my own arse!

If that’s what you really want Gene——- that’s what it’ll be—— two of each !
I know there’s been configurations of most form of propulsion—— but I can’t recall there being “TWO OF EACH” on anything.
Magoon would probably have loved it———-
See what I can come up with——- leave it with me for a couple of weeks———- I’m up to my fetlocks in “CONCEPTS” of one sort and another at the minute !
Daughter sam wants me to finish off the pair of CORNHOLE BOARDS I made last month——- she made the eight bean bags, but wants a bit of customisation!
I picked up a very old vintage lead 1908 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost—— needs fixing to the BONHAMS BARN FINDS concept.
On top of that, my son Mark is bringing out a new “FAST FISH” boat and needs a concept for his desk!
Still running Gene—— Life in the Fast line is still a bunch of laughs if you don’t falter—— how close is the MALIBUSTANG to take off?

Johnno———- never came across a genuine “BARN FIND” that wasn’t covered in dust——- just trying to get a little authenticity here————- all the vehicles on the Concept are quite valuable in their own right———— but not one of them is perfect, they’ve all got bits missing and broken parts———
I must have got it damn near right if it made you comment “might want to clean the dust off first” !
