Have to be honest———-the gaffer tape has held up and the mower works perfectly! With a bit of smooth talking and a dab with the flannel, I might just get a few shillings for it at the car boot sale and cover my costs !

ran the snot out of a 1970 1/2 Ram Air lV Muncie M20 bird with the 400, factory aluminum flywheel, cast headers, etc. Never been a TA kinda guy, but was pretty impressed with that one at the time.

I had a good friend in high school that had the same 1970 TA bird as yours, but had a Ram Air lll. They were a fun to drive car and handled very well compared to what else was available at the time in the same price range. It was my understanding that the Ram Air lll was rated at 335 hp, for insurance purposes, but was closer to 360 hp. The 1971 HO 455, which is what I had, was also rated at 335, but was closer to 385 hp. I think the Ram Air lV 400 was about the same rating as the 455 HO, but maybe even closer to 400 ponies. I always loved to kick it so the air door in the hood scoop would pop open. Those were the days...

If I remember correctly the aluminum flywheels had a steel insert where the clutch disc would make contact and also a steel ring gear pressed on the outer diameter for the starter. Other than that, they were all aluminum and quite a bit lighter than their stock counter parts.

More than 40 years ago, hmmmm. I do remember it being cast aluminum(I think), with a steel toothed ring gear for the starter pressed on. Just can't remember the clutch riding surface, but it might have been either just plain bare aluminum(hard to believe) or had a ring of simular, but thick, clutch material fastened to the disc side of the flywheel. Just don't recall. I can tell you what I just had for desert after dinner. Rice Crispy Treats. I think...

Fuji——— you’re letting the side down———- how can you possibly be “WRONG” ?——- old farts are never wrong ! We may not accurately recollect——- or tell the full truth due to “Mitigating Circumstances “,but WRONG, NEVER .!
Just goes to show what a wealth of knowledge there is between the old farts—— covers most subjects—- we are INVINCIBLE.
Wind died down ( after flattening the dahlias) rain ceased after twenty hours, clouds went away, and I got to see the red moon———— wasn’t red so much as a dirty yellow creamy orb. Still, I just have to wait another 270 years before the next one——— can’t say I’m looking forward to it in all honesty.
Hospital this morning to decide on her majesty’s gall stones op.
Workshop will have to wait———- Managed a single 550 hp Single piped Mercury Marauder ——- Just have another four to go.
Told you I got an exciting Cocept on the go this time.
