Had a good enjoyable Weekend------got most of the parts for the "Sacred Mercury Tower", put in fifteen hours-----not too shabby for an old fart !
First time in my life I got caught up in the pillar drill, only a small piece but spun round and grabbed my sleeve, took it right off my left arm, switch is on the left, luckily the belt started to slip so I was able to reach over with my right arm and switch off.
Scared the crap outa me, next slip up and I'm down to just a couple of hours.
Thats the first piece of alloy I started on---didn't look quite right, so I started again. Still not totally happy with what's come out so far, but it's a step in the right direction.
It'll make a half decent golf trophy at worst !
Bloody great news that Key West and Tavares are no longer on the same weekend!
We should have a good turn out for the golf match, lets make it the best ever.
Thanks to whoever rearranged the dates, I for one really appreciate it!

Roger, you're getting to know me quite well-----just keep an open mind, remember it's only a concept. Spiral ? I do have something in mind, if I can only make it work !? Looks like I might have to start again on number 3 to get what I want.
Isnt it good news about the fall meeting in Tavares , don't suppose you had anything to do with the date change ?
Wonder how many ladies are going to accost me today, thank God it's only this day once every four years
Winters over, it's official, just hope somebody tells him upstairs "OY, God, turn it off, bring on the Spring , soon as possible". We had the warmest, wettest winter since records began, and for this family, the saddest, so I won't be shedding any tears over its departure. I have never really liked winter, I'm more of a summer time creature. Just hope this year proves to be something special and life returns to some sort of "normality".
Got my sister Ange coming for lunch today. We always have "BIG EATS" when she comes. But I have got a full "Empty" week if you know what I mean, plenty of shop time, let's see what I can cobble together this week.

See that Ben Ainsley came out on top in Dubai and is currently heading the list of contenders for the right to challenge for the Americas Cup.
This guy has all the right credentials. Watch out for this one, could prove interesting.

Dark, damp, dismal and dinghy morning, absolutely chucking it down. Sheets are hanging this morning, not in any rush to take on the day, Jilly made the early morning "Cuppa", means she didn't sleep well.
Decided to cut down on workshop time, find I'm getting more forgetful, even sloppy sometime.
Worry about getting too familiar with the machines, you know the old adage "Familiarity breeds contempt"? I do have a hell of a lot more scars on my thumbs this year than I ever had before.
Took a week off from doing Marks boat, found I was bogged down from making any sort of sensible progress by too much "Thinking time". That's really why I started the Lake X tower, which turned into making two because I was having a hard time getting it right.
I learned also that there are model makers who are far cleverer than me who can make superb working models, to scale, with a degree of accuracy I could never hope to match.
Will get my mind back on track and my arse in gear any time soon-----think I've had too many big lunches and distractions than's been good for me.
Got me all of a quiver just thinking about some of the events that are happening this year. My grandsons wedding down at Hawks Key next month, trip to Lake Garda, Key West then Tavares , there's a fair bit of excitement coming way.

rained all morning and is still coming down in Niagara proportions, it's time for big zuzzies.
Finally worked out how to do the stairs on the sacred tower, took me all morning-------Wilsons smarter than the average Boo-Boo, should be able to show some piccies in the not too distant future.
You'll like this a lot Roger----hits you right in the pit of the stomach just looking at it, nostalgia, memories-----wait till you see the finished article, you'll wet your knickers!!!
Will be able to deliver to Florida mid April, call me if anyone's interested, we'll haggle over the price.

Called it a day at 4:30pm------Jilly was waving a glass of wine under my nose telling me I had promised to cut down on the shop hours---------I did, half an hour, it's a start anyway.
Trouble is---I gave the dog a bone, she is never going to let up now until I'm down to just working mornings.
Well chuffed with the sacred tower, came along in leaps and bounds-----working the two together. Turned up a nice chunk of Teak for the base, found it in last years woodpile -------it polished up beautifully !
Wait 'till you see the crowning glory Roger, and Rich, promise you will not be disappointed . Even Fujimo will stick a bid in on this one. As I said before the little one will make a nice respectable golf trophy.
Not a lot else to report----Jillys daughter Catherine brought the babe for the day, along with the dog (White Labrador) which has single handedly scarrified and fertilised my lawn, could not believe how much a dog could crap. Must be a dozen piles of poo poo spread over the grass------but it's the stink cloud which hangs at about five feet above ground level I dislike most. Told her next time to put a diaper on the dog.
Starting to ramble so goodnight folks MYGGWY .J.

[QUOTE=ron54;2834799]Jackie I was talking to Dick Scammell tonight did you ever meet him......Phill[/QUOTE
Phill,
Dick is one of the nicest guys I ever met-----he had a lot to do with the Cosworth experiment and tried valiantly to stop the boat from sinking in Amsterdam.
If memory serves me right, he was on his way back from Ronnie Petersons funeral, he represented the firm along with Keith Duckworth . Malcolm Tyrrel was also there.
Repairs from the hole Recieved on the start line can still be seen on the Cosworth today!
Im still trying to scrounge a ticket to this years Goodwood Festival of Speed, must be somebody I know with a few "Complimentary" tickets------you still got any contacts Phill ?
Whatd'ya know, it finally stopped raining, more due this afternoon, but for now it's all things bright and beautiful !
Should finish the sacred tower today-----looks pretty good too, even though I say it myself, then I'll try and get Marks boat on the move again-----left it alone for the last ten days due to lack of "Inspiration" and "Deviations"----it's been on the conservatoire table for too long-----been told to shift it ! Time for the three S's.

Jackie.. you will recall I used to help out with the temporaries at the FOS and indeed at the Revival until the novelty of kipping in the back of a van with a couple of chirpy cockneys f**rting & snoring all night kinda lost its appeal despite what coins were proferred. Therefore I prefer now to watch it all now ( the members meeting is coming up soon) back in my hovel sat in my chair watching it on "live stream"..
I have to say though. throughout all the years I did Goodwood never once were we offered "comps" never ever- I'm sure they were around but they found there way to the suits not the "boiler" suits if you get my meaning....
I have noticed now that the entries at the FOS are appearing to repeat themselves I suppose a bit like womans hair styles.. there is only so many to go around.
Folks say that "watchin' things on the telly ain't the same" which to a certain extent is the true but if you,ve seen the real thing all those sights, sound and smells are all filed away in you brain cells ready to be drawn upon as the need arises that's memories are all about..
Finally Dick was kind enough to let me try on the very watch that Jim Clark had presented to him back in the 60's in grateful thanks of.....
I don't suppose it would mean to many.. but to a simpleton like me, It cheered me up some.
So the upshot of all these verbs is.........no tickets sorry! Phill.

Rushed through the day at turtle velocity but still didn't get anywhere near where I wanted to end up. Still got all the fences to re-construct, was never happy with the first effort so decided to start afresh.
Adding the wing was just a bit of nonsense on my part so give me a bit of slack. Would not normally have posted a picture until it was finished but I did promise you a piccy today so here 'tis.

Different strokes for different folks, just trying to show what can be done with a little lateral imaginative thinking, outside the box so to speak.
Believe it or not, wings are not everyone's cup of cocoa-------unscrew it and you'd never know it was there, all that's left is one mans interpretation of a building that once was, detested by some, but loved and remembered by many.
As for "wings" they have been part of the search for performance in every form you can think of-----boats and cars and planes and "Things".
Your HOPE has been noted-------Jilly would not even contemplate putting a "wing" in the oven, bun, maybe-----wing in a lasagne ? I think not.
