Lithium batteries need to be way more storage than you need if you are going to full throttle them for 9-12 seconds. You need the excess battery capacity to cushion the high discharge rates. This is why I believe the electric catamaran throttled back as well. Too fast a drain for too long, and boom! Lithium fire. Which means a lot of extra weight. A LOT of extra weight. A long range Tesla battery weighs as much as two and a half LSx V8's. Just the battery.

Your mate will have to figure this stuff in his planning, on order to avoid a fire bomb. And probably add significant bracing to his car, to accommodate the extra weight.

Peter, I'm just the stupid fabricator / welder. The rest of it is his problem. Makes no sense to me, but then it doesn't have to. It's his soap and his shower .. It can always go back to a 7.00 @ 195 gas / nitrous piece.

That probably means plenty of sitting “in quarantine”, away from other things that might get destroyed in a lithium fire both before they can work on it, and after they worked on it, if it involves touching he battery or any structure that supports the battery. Especially if it was a dealership. Indy shops might be willing to take more risks over lithium fires, in the interest of keeping things moving.

that boat looks like it might be big enough to float the 3000-4000lbs of batteries it would take for a full day on the lake.

How do we know 180hp is anywhere near adequate to power that boat in rough seas or strong currents?

Horsepower is never really a problem
Learned waterskiën behind this boat my father build when he was 18 years old
It's the cost and at the moment no where nere economical
I have been out once this year to cold and rainy , season is almost over
Boating is already expensive and blowing a **** load of cash on something in storage does not make sense

Interesting take on hydrogen fuel cell replacement. Maybe we should all go back to pedal power. Side effect would be a drastic reduction in healthcare costs. Can't be chonky when you gotta be the powerplant.

I spoke to this guy at the dock the other day. He said : welp, it's a little slow ta get movin , gets close to bein on plane in a half mile and tops out at 4.5 mph ...
And the best part is that the 4000 pound battery pack lasts pert near an hour ..

This is highly enlightening for those that haven’t paid attention for the last 20 yrs.

The written story more so than the video.

The EV side of Ford is not going well and they, of all US mfg’s may have bought in more than any of the other US mfgs.

Heard before that are closing down ev production lines.

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
