Vapor trails boy, Jackie, you really are showing you raising experience with people over here in the states. Pelican harbor, great racing place about a 4 1/2 mile course and rough as hell coming down the intercoastal side, raised a couple of three hour marathons there, and a souped up donzi 16 with a 289 Holman Moody Ford. I think peacock wanted to use big D for a turn bouy because you kept bumping into her all the time. I don’t think Meg was too happy with that deal.

    This might help ..........

Peacock and Chick Gagen drove a Mercury/Molinari single outboard to 5th overall at Parker in 1973. I'm pretty sure that Gary drove the new Speed Marine Molinari KT entry named Mohave Max in 1974. In 1975 I believe he teamed with Cordoza in another new Molinari KT.

After Parker in 73, Gary was retained to do the test driving for the Mercury KT development package. As the summer progressed, Gary and the boat just got better and better. It won 3 of the 4 races it entered and was clearly dominating the 4th race when it had a failure. The boat was sold after the 73 season and won the KT championship for the new owner, Art Williams, the next year. I think Billy Don Pruett was the driver.

The Mighty KT leading the pack in 73 .....

I think you’re right about Gary driving Mojave Max but I believe Mitch Lemke was a co-driver because his dad Jerry Lemke was instrumental at speed marine. The money man, Richard Berg was one of the nicest guys around boat racing at that time.

..... lotta fun racing with the Miami racers going out west just a kid back, then working in the pits.
A picture from Powerboat Magazine, taken at the Dayton 225 in 1972. Are you the kid in the middle of the pic wearing a Mercury Racing Team jacket? Looks like Peacock and Bill Allen are standing behind you?

Just occasionally i get a tad over enthusiastic whilst playing with the new toys i have acquired lately! One of these items is myMILWAUKEE 6-0AMP POWER DRILL Drill bit got stuck in the chuck, so me in my wisdom cranked the settings to max and wound the vice up tight— WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!
Spent the following morning in “THE MINOR INJURIES UNIT BOGNOR REGIS HOSPITAL Knew i had broken my wrisT IN AT LEAST 27 PLACES—- [turned out it was sprained]
Been banned from all activities for a minimum 10 days,so, i locked up SUPERSHED and have taken to my recliner to finish the BOOK.

BEEN FIVE SHORT YEARS SINCE I HAD AMBITIONS TO BECOME AN AUTHOR.

No, sir, not me if you met me it was probably at the Miami Marine Stadium at one of the local races there. Didn’t travel out of Florida too much except when we were running the GN boats later on in the 70s and early 80s. Was it Havasu and 69 and it Parker and 72 and three. Help Wally Qualman and Jock Horner on the glass Tron Molinary and 69. Helped peacock in Chick Gagan with their boats at Parker. Never went to Dayton.

Speed, Marine crew out of California had a GN boat that they campaign called Yosemite Sam and used to come to Miami to try and beat Duff Daily in the old Mona boats. I was hanging around Mike, Gordon‘s GN boat in those days. I think Russ Romer, and Rich Marshall were the drivers for Speed Marine Possibly, Mitch Lemke later on as his dad was pretty much the crew chief for the speed line racing boats. Jack Wilcox, and later on Jack Stuteville drove Mike Gordon’s GN boat

I was at the Stadium when Wilcox had the rudder break off the "Fish Peddler". The boat turned hard right and went under the front rows of the stands. A couple of seconds later it popped back out apparently without hitting anything. Jack never raced again. It just was not his day to die. Unfortunately several years later he was killed by an armed robber at his business.

Always regretted never going to MIKE GORDONS place— was going there with “CUBES” one day but GG sent a message and cubes was required back on site.
one of my favourite memories was working in Oshkosh putting the finishing touches to some swirled plates which required polishing ———— problem was , polishing shop was across the yard and it was damnably cold out there. Welch had me put on an arctic suit just to cross the yard [november 1970]

First time out at Chase — boat actually loved a bit of wind . Was a tad faster than the Levi but into the wind , it pissed all over them.

My very first Molinari—-cost exactly £1,000 [plus a glass yellow Levi 16 to get it back through customs].
A very young Renato with my son Mark !!!!!!!!
