I must dig up a few of those old photos where people plastered transomes with 5-6 OMC SeaDrives and they got laughed at.
It’s really amazing the new Mercury 12 cylinder engine friend of mine who is about 57 or eight it’s the next one at Palm Beach boat show last spring barely came up to the bottom of the pans. There were a lot of them at the show and at the Lauderdale show. TheyDon’t seem to be filtering down to the dealers, the boat manufacturers are getting them but in limited numbers. I personally would like to have seen one of the 4litre V8 OMCs from the past with the latest Etec fuel injection systems make a run at the market. Maybe not 600 hp but it easy 500 and still less weight I think the fuel economy for a giant two-stroke engineWould be very credible. Just my thoughts.

Hells teeth Pilgrim -you need a feckin fork lift in the tool box to play boats using those damn things .
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR !!!!!!!!
Remember omc. —- if you want to make a million —-better start of with a zillion !!!!!!!
big outboards killed off the inboards ——-electric cars catch fire and cant be put out ——remember that little old thing called KENETIC ENERGY ??????? FOR EVERY ACTION —THERE IS A REACTION .
Todays innovators simply have not thought things through—- we made a battery —- well whoopee- doo . Ie cost of making ——life —cost of renewal ——disposal—-results of disposal—.
Rational thinking gets lost in the elation of profits from manufacture —-pharmaceuticals are a great example —
WHAT THE HELL AM I THINKING OF ——THIS IS SCREAM AND FLY — ABOUT BLOODY BIG [OVERWEIGHT AND OVERPRICED ]. OUTBOARDS .
I had better shut up before i get into big trouble yet again.

Well thats it—Key West came and went—- my grandkids team came one and two— what more can a man ask for ????? I met a bunch of old friends again . Shot the breeze and reminisced — like i ever needed reminding i am 91 in a few weeks . Saw KAREN MAY —first time in 45 years —she still looks great and has lost nothing of that great personality she has always been famous for.
have to nip down the road apiece and catch up with CHARLIE O‘NEIL— promised i would bring him one of the Karelson record boats.
just a handful of concepts didnt sell —- no idea why—sold over 20 of the damn things — like my old teacher used to say —-COULD DO BETTER.

Well—the party‘s over —time to call it a day .
Packed a lifetime into the last two weeks —- CANT BELIEVE YOU ARE 91– next person to say that i will cheerfully floor .
Got to meet up with old friends —KAREN MAY in particular —- was always someone special in my life -as was her brother bBRETT MAY. — he drove the cosworth with me in Parker [1979]. But for monumental feck ups beyond our control we could have done a hell of a lot better than we did . But friendships were forged that lasted a lifetime .
Grandkids won the worlds down in KEY WEST. ——
old farts are alive and well and likely to be so for years to come — even though ODELL HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS BEFORE HE FINALLY HEADED FOR HOME .
Sold 23 concepts —— AMBERJACK bought a whole load of concepts ——we still have to get together .
ARTHUR MOSTERT and me finally did a great deal together . I am now the proud owner of TWO ROLEX waches ———-. Benny Robertson ordered a concept .
Miles Jennings drove a bloody horrible boat well —it simply fell apart under him !!!!!!! He still finished a very creditable third behind the two HUSKI BOATS . Minute he gets his arse in a half decent boat -sparks could fly .
Marks gearcases were predominant in most of the classes —- as were the props he prepared for the winning boats .. after fifty years in the racing propellor field -he should be good !!!!!!
must do a new chapter called KEY WEST in the book . Will try and put it to bed this winter .
See RON HILL finished his book ——HAVENT seen or heard much about it , but i will get around to it soon . Sad Gene wasnt there at the OFF meeting —- dissapointed Richie powers never showed . But for those who did , a huge thank you —-there simply is not anything like it anywhere in the world — 39 showed and all enjoyed it immensely. Held over two days —-nobody wanted it to end and we were still trying to get them home turned 11-00 am.
A most memorable two weeks !!!!!!!

Maybe not in 10 years but certainly in the future we will revert back to being Blow boaters like our great great great grandfather‘s the pilgrims. You may be able to boat up and down the intercoastal with your electric motor but I don’t believe the technology Will have advanced far enough for offshore floating charging stations for your electric motor Technical advancements are a great thing but sometimes I wonder

Two Roles = having one Rolex on Florida time - and the other on Monarch time.

Now they may be more Jackie' concepts in the States, then in Europe.

Charlie— reason i fell out with all the folk was simply because i told it the way it was . If i didnt like the way a person was acting i would simply say YOU ARE ACTING LIKE AN ARSEHOLE. If i didnt like someone a simple —I NEVER DID BLOODY LIKE YOU — always did the trick, they never bothered me again . Plus—i never ever had to apologise —-end of.
