This being the case, how do you justify a 45% increase in price. This is nothing more than price gouging from the oil producers, refineries, wholesales and retailers. Our local gas stations are increasing the prices several times a day, yet they have these same gas in the ground that they purchased at a much lower price a week or two ago. This is nothing more than a money grab by the petroleum industry fueled by the media.
Tell me about it Bob— I ran a TOTAL owned garage for over 12 years —- could never make a profit due to EVAPORATION . Never did sell the amount i bought in . Never could understand it —— found out years later there was a huge vapour loss. If you owned the GARAGE -YOU COULD MAKE TWICE THE MONEY OF COMPANY OWNED SITES.
Oil companies are not known for going bankrupt or out of business ——- always seem to make more in a crisis!!!!!!

In two days we went from $3.79 to $3.99 to $4.19 to $4.39 to $4.59. At this rate we will be at $6.00 by the end of the week. The petroleum executives are ordering their new yachts...

Call it what you want but it's 1974 all over again and you cannot do a thing about it. I hope it doesn't get back to gas lines, purchase limtis and roadside status flags. But I also remember the inefficient clunky pieces of junk we were driving in 1974 too.

I kept all of my marathon racing tanks from the days of Havasu (nobody wanted to buy them). They now serve as fuel reserve storage in my barn. 1974 is just as clear in my mind as yesterday. To this very day, I still have a habit of topping off my tank anytime I'm out driving.

I had one of the two garages in Southwater in West Sussex —in 1974 —- suddenly -everyone in the village who owned a car was my best friend —— neighbours who had never been near, [particularly as i had lived in the village for twenty years and knew OF them] . In the end put I up a sign “PETROL ONLY SERVED TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE A MONTHLY ACCOUNT WITH US”. Fifty people signed up with us for a monthly account ———— they lasted for the duration of the shortage !!!!!

Yeah, I had a high school classmate who's family owned a Texaco station. I never did the gas line thing or any of the other stuff. We'd go down to the station at 1 AM on a weekday and with the station lights off, we'd fuel every vehicle and fuel jugs we had. I don't drive around the area looking to save 2 cents a gallon either. I have a few select stations I patronize regardless of price. I wonder if the current situation will put pressure on farmers for ethanol corn?

History always has a way of repeating itself and I think you are correct, 1974 is coming back to visit. I just came back from some shopping and most of the gas stations in town are now out of gas...or maybe they are just pretending to be out of gas until the price goes up another $.50 and then they will have plenty... 1974, here we come....

It will take forever to get off all the other products that make up about 50% of tbe barrel of oil.
So we stop burning it and what do you do with the other 50%?

Going way back gasoline was an un sellable by product so they invented cars to use it.
