What is it like when F1 cars come to town, and take over the city at night time?
It was getting popular way back in early 80's with formula E type ( T750) and v6 classes but faded away as more and more water was taken for development and the port traffic has gone up and up, so its hard to find any water to get a permit these days.
The FONDA circuit came here all through the 80's as the City has a fantastic bit of water in the middle of town for tunnel boats.
Followed by a few F1 races and a Nations Cup event which was the last.
Last year we in the SPBA held a T750 race which was the first for many many years, the Wuhan has put all that on hold as boating is still shutdown till next month and travel bans in place in Asia. All the boats came from HK where a local guy that lives in teh UK and races there has funded a fleet to try to get a circuit in Asia and they are one design, I have done all 3 events, HK, Macau and Singapore, they are great and a fantastic bunch come from Europe mostly and just have fun.
We plan to get that class going but like many its hard to get new engines to suit that class and hard to find a venue.
All the water in Singapore is the Port so we have to deal with the port authority that have more important things to do.
It will be up to the voters to put pressure to get it started so up to our club to get more interested.
Singapore did have a big jet ski scene but restrictions also made that fade away.
The F1 night race is a big deal here and there are lots of car clubs but all events have to be in Malaysia as there are zero facilities here for gear heads less some go kart tracks.
None the F1 track is used for anything outside of the GP other than what is normally roads, which is most of it.

There is more stuff happening in Malaysia particularly East Malaysia, they have a great local scene from 6hp and up to sst60.
Thailand has a f1 poser show ( put movie stars in F1 boats)funded by a beer guy and thats it in Asia, no nationally organized series and no safety standards at all
Thailand does have one of the biggest Jetski events in the world where they usually have about USD$500k prize pot.
Normally attracts about 300 foreign skis
The problem in Asia ( other than Singapore where you can get anything done once the Gov is behind you) is if you try to run an event somebody looking for large bag of cash or your event doesnt run.
If your the local Billionaire then you have some power.

“Writes anything.” I was fortunate, in my own eyes, to witness the era of the outboard engine’s evolution. To a powerful enough machine, which mounted on some recreational boats, will get a novice driver in trouble, over his head.

Like wise I grew-up with the evolution of the rock guitarist, and his evolving gear of big amps, tone peddles and quality guitars. The engineered machine of a well-oiled engine or the rock and roll resonance, they both have distinctive sounds.

In my later years I picked up a guitar (I bought it from my buddy’s brother). I tried my hand at the self-taught method on weekends. And I was never good enough to perform. That long process has made me appreciate good guitar playing, and other artists on any musical instrument too.

So then I will pay my respect to some fine guitar players. To most of us,they (globally known) do not need introduction. But the fascinating thing to me about these 12 is they, come from the same island nation England. And Jackie, a lot of my generational colleagues are surprised; so much good music comes from a, not so large populated nation.

Here are a few, in which I highly appreciate their contribution to my ears.

Roy. Two of my granddaughters married married rock guitar players. Carly and Sonny, They’ve produced four grandchildren up to now.
Johnny Stubbs and Dean Morris play everything from Spanish classical to outrageously ear splitting noise.
They are both music teachers at posh colleges here in the south of England when their not doing gigs around the county.
damned if i can fathom out how guitar players with their ability are not earning millions?
pretty sure i could come up with the lyrics overnight——- and I know they can write their own music to fit. Dan, I might just do that this morning for a change .

Howard Arneson and Phill Rolla were great friends, one time Bill Sirois , Arneson and Rolla were in Lugano at the sme time. My son Mark met Howard many times when Twin Disc bought out Arneso surface drives.
