Tricks that old racers get up to after retirement

Saturday—- car boot again already, why I do it I cannot in all honesty tell you!
I have everything I need and more besides——- and, if I bought anything—— I have nowhere to put it!
Out to lunch again today—— “The flying fish “ again —— been told the chefs back, let’s hope it’s better jock than last time.
Will get a proper Kodak out later and take some piccies——— just to let you know I haven’t been twiddling my thumbs .

This is the surface drive I worked my tail off for——— I know it’s not like any drive you ever saw before—— don’t even hazard a guess as to where it came from——- found the swivel ball joint at the car boot sale !!!——- every other bit, I cobbled together or turned up on the lathe.
Transom started out as a skanky lump of one inch shuttering ply———- after all my best efforts—— it still looked like a skanky chunk of shuttering ply——- so I gave it a coating of five mm alluminium —— polished it, and then just thought it out from there. ( I did have the socking great big stainless steel nut and bolt to make the shaft out of !

Even the feckin dustbins are full in my shop—— need a clear out before the OFF meet!

I never have any opinions about this thread but read your stuff maybe ones a week.

Lasse, I apologise most profusely for not spelling your name right—— that’s unforgivable——- I abhor bad spelling, there is no excuse for it—— believe me when I tell you, I have always known how to spell your name.
Have to tell you LASSE, I have always been outspoken and critical all my life——— if I have something to say, I say it..
Consequently, I have fallen out with an awful lot of people in my life, simply because I didn’t agree with them.
If I see something on a thread that I think is good, I’ll praise it—— if I think it’s a load of crap then I’ll say so—— this is nothing new, I’ve done it all my life. Brought up five great kids using the same doctrines

Cant quite understand why you posted a piccy of you and the Burgess OZ with a V8 Rude on it——- you were never as successful in one of those as you were in an OE—— you were a world champion many times in the 850 classes! In fact Lasse—— you were the yardstick all the others tried to emulate !
Just one more thing my friend—— I do enjoy life—— every single hour of every single day——- always have.
Try to cram as much as possible in—— create things—- live life to the full—- make friends—- ?

Sorry Keith, who and what are the Jacksonville Jaguars? Sounds like a gang of hairy arsed bikers to me ! Wembley is the venue for all sorts of things these days——- long ago it was for football( native style) —- speedway—— athletics—- rock concerts etc.
Nowadays it’s just a money spinner !

Did an hour in the shop this morning——- as much as I could manage—— temperature’s Just above freezing and I’m damned if I can remember where I put the fan heater for safe keeping ——- it’s only a little 750W puffer, about six by six inches——— bloody leprechauns are having a game with me AGAIN!
Put another coat of white on the turbine—— remind me to never again join five bits of timber together to make a hull. When you come to shape it all out, there’s bloody end grain and disfigurations at every stroke, in the end you have to coat it with ten coats of hammerite and it’s still rougher than a witches tit.
In future I’ll make sure the woods big enough and of a decent quality to justify making a Powerboat!
Her majesty has gone in for a scan this morning——- apparently Sunday’s are for those without a life threatening condition !
We had Lizzie for the last 24hours—— she’s coming up four in February and is great company—— currently teaching how to read and write and simple arithmetic——— using the dice in “snakes and ladders”, a good way to get em to recognise one to six instantly.

Just in case any any of you are wondering what little Lizzie looks like——— here she is all three years and eight months of her..
Only Reason Im rambling so much is , Jilly is long overdue from the hospital——- of course, I’m not worried at all———- I simply have to do things when she decides she’s going on her own!

If it wasnt so damn cold, I’d be beavering in the shop, and I’m all done with the F1 car fiasco.—- and I’m not ready to take up knitting yet.

Sad to say it’s probably going to happen Pilgrim——as my sainted mother used to say——-- “where’s there’s no sense there’s no feeling”—— Racing doesn’t have to be barges with truck engines—— look no further than the hydros!
Was Racing flat bottoms before the vees——- if you want to beat yourself to death whilst racing—— jump into a V bottom!
I try to keep a low profile when I visit Hong Kong—— don’t know many folk there!
