A step towards, maybe Pilgrim, but not the answer——— yes, I have seen them used and to good effect down under——— but notice, they only seem to be used on timed runs——- haven’t seen them in competitive multi boat racing, have you?

Like I said—— capsule is already made——- they’re going into the next batch of P1/s. Scheduled for later in the year for export to the Far East.
Only ten boats in the USA series to cater for anyway !

Jackie - I wish I could send it to you, but because it is formatted, it will not allow me to send it other than it's original format. However, you can do it yourself - here's how....First enlarge it to full screen. If you have a desk top computer it will even be better. Then start the video and wait for any commercials to be over and then just before the crash, click on the pause button (the two vertical lines under the picture and to the left). Now gently move the slider button to the right and each time you do, it will be like a freeze frame or manual slow motion. The slider button is the circle or square that moves as the video is running.

Here is the link again so you don't have to go back and hunt it down: https://www.news4jax.com/news/local/...-memorial-park

I’m fast becoming a “GEEK”Bob——— took me a couple of go’s, but I nailed it in the end. Unfortunately it still is not abundantly clear exactly what happened——— definitely needs the helicopter footage to determine the sequence of events that led up to the tragedy. That’s if the cameras were filming the right boats at the right time.
Officials have confirmed it’s classed as a “RACING INCIDENT” —— so at the moment there’s no witch hunt!

Hell of a statement Pilgrim——- BOATS GOING OVER EACH OTHER ALL THE TIME——- is this a case of “Familiarity Breeding Contempt” ? Or Bumper Boat Racing,? Or Destruction Derby?

yes thats the type of racing it is so very entertaining.
Its an entry level class, everyone comes back to shore with a grin on their face. Must be best bang for your buck racing ever.
Engines are old xflow 140 omc's, 22" Merc chopper and they run claimer rules so engines are $2500 I think, if you spend more you risk losing it for $2500
If I could find a pile of old v4's I would start that class here.

My Sainted Mother used to say —- If you look long enough and hard enough you can find anything you want!
In every motorised sport there’s always a “Cheap as Chips” entry level class——— cars, motor bikes, boats, as well as sail boats, probably perambulators, go carts , frogs and turtles——- whatever the sport, few will survive and go on to be super competitive——— the way forward is always expensive and the old adage “DISCRETION IS THE BETTER PART OF VALOUR” taken into account.
Invariably the route we eventually choose is like the road to hell ( paved with good intention ) but , a few good men will make it.
Smart bit of all this, is keeping those few, as safe as possible in a highly dangerous sport. Do not expect any thanks or accolades for doing this—— because you will be disappointed—— it’s one of those things that are taken for granted, unnoticed when things are running smooth——- but when there’s a tragedy, watchout, Somebody will want to blame someone or something!

the texas tri hull hit the nail on the head with a class for all.
    raceable by beginner
    low price to enter
    hull and engine readily available
    hasnt killed anyone
claimer class to prevent big dollar racing

any other class meet that in todays diminished racing environment?

Boat racing has never been cheap, it’s simply a case of a 50hp Merc and a 15’ V bottom will always be cheaper than a VERADO on anything——- tunnel—— v bottom or one of yesterday’s boats!
Vintage boating (you don’t race a vintage craft) is one of the more expensive hobbies.
Thought you said engines were hard to find
Hasnt killed anyone ??? Maybe you should add “YET” to that caption!
Sorry, but if I worked hard to get my rig quicker than anyone else——— last thing in the world I want,is for someone with big bucks claiming it.
Niether you nor I know the exact reason for the decline in boat racing. You have your theory—— I have mine, but the days of 100 boats lining up for the start In places like Havasu—— Parker and Paris are long gone.
I understand on a poker run race——— there can be as many-as 200 applicants———— SHOW ME A .”CHEAP” poker.run rig ?
