it's a brul, not sure of the wood. Could be walnut or a dark oak.

Had it a number of years Johnno, tidied it up a bit to determine what it actually was ! Whilst I wouldn't bet the farm on it-----I believe it's OAK. Reason being-----it's off a really big tree to have a BURR this big, I have two of the buggers. Still considerating what to make out of it ? Everybody turns a bowl out of them--------what bloody good is a wood bowl with knobbles on ?
Its more use as a doorstop----which it is at the moment, AND I don't have to do anything to it.

Now look at the four hour mark Lassie-------I had already finished my stint, and we were the lead boat.
Renato swore blind nobody passed him------and on a stack of bibles-------nobody passed me ? ----final result shows we were three laps down on Sanders/Posey!
Its all water under the bridge and a long time ago (47years) ------it still rankles------I've used up all my dollies and settled down to be a nice quiet gentle, soft and friendly sort of chap who's at peace with everyone and everything ('CEPT maybe OMC AND FECKIN FRENCH TIMEKEEPERS).

This is the wing from a piece of firewood that at times I wished I'd chucked on the fire-------not a nut, bolt, or screw is visible anywhere on this particular wing.
    Another thing--------Jackie learned to paint!
All it needs now is for Bob V to teach me how to post, pretty soon I'll be "Postmam Jack"
Take a look at this one Roger, you'll like it-------it's bound for the mantelpiece!

Can't make out if Lassie was being sarki, or simply got it wrong !
Angelo raced Hydros but put his name on all the tunnel boats at that time-------I don't ever recall him getting in a tunnel boat ever.
I did become very good friends with him over the years! Never fell out with Angelo--------though I did fall out with Renato ( often) !

Hey Jackie that boat looks so comfortable to drive not like the bucking bronco I was driving a grp 15ft boat is too short for that water and the bottom was knocked through after a couple of hrs.No38 is Billys boat which was wood I think he managed 5th place overall Bernard Michel was his co driver and was terrified of that boat the first time he drove it was Chasewater and he had flown the boat in that previous race. Poor Bernard he only ever drove bills boats twice a year and look at the races he picked.I have endclosed a picture of Bill he would have been 77 now I can remember his son aged 5 he will be 51 now.

First, my thinking was to be friendly not sarki...
Second, I have another Paris 1970 report saying the #42 boat lost the lead to Sanders/Posey after two hours. Coming at the "Fact thread" later.

Jackie: Burl oak is worth quite a bit of $$$. Stock makers and wood carvers. Might consider selling it to pay for the insurance to OFF.
    Have a nice day.

If you were being friendly and not sarcastic Lassie, please accept my sincere apologies for thinking otherwise.
After47 years ,I think it's time to let sleeping dogs lie------- the second place silver medal has always been hung in my workshop-------I never put it in the trophy cabinet.
My daughter kept the times for the middle two hours---------I was never passed by anyone during my stint---------I maintained this at the time, and still do.
The boat was the most comfortable armchair ride I ever had------never once had an exciting moment, was like driving a Rolls Royce.

There were all sorts of reports on that race Lassie, one was the four hour report putting 42 in the lead. Another report was the 6 hour report which IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS, said 42 was three laps in arrears. Maybe now you understand the "disagreement" I had with Molinari !
What I can tell you is, the boat and motor ran like clockwork and never missed a beat,
Mercury always had quicker pit stops than OMC------there's the ENIGMA.

I've suspected it for some time, but I now have definite proof-----MY ARMS ARE GETTING SHORTER-----lately, I have had great difficulty in putting my socks on------my feet are further away from my hands!
When Lizzie decides she wants me to chase her, I no longer run after her, I "hobble"---- I do try to ignore these things, but I keep getting silly little reminders, like grabbing both arms on my recliner to hoik myself up. The clicks that occur in my neck that sound like breaking twigs. Swinging my arms to counterbalance the walking motion. Raising my legs in the air and throwing them down towards the floor to enable me to get out of bed in the morning------the 3am trip to the toilet every night--------the clearing cough in my throat that my grandfather always did-------- I don't look in the mirror any more, I can no longer recognise that wrinkled old git who looks back at me.-------keep wondering what those funny knobs are on most of my knuckles ? Have to tell you, sometimes they ache like buggery.
Still, looking on the up side------I woke up again this morning------that's an added bonus I suppose.
Yet another doctors appointment----have to see if I can't get me a permanent parking spot !
Hope to get my drivers license back soon------ hate relying on others to take me to places of worship, i.e.; car boot and scrapyard.
Did do the car boot sale at Ford yesterday------came away empty handed, heart wasn't really in it and I was well into a "concept"---- couldn't wait to get home.
Decided to throw in the towel with Lassie Strom-------he's a friend for Gods sake-----and I don't have that many left, mostly my fault ( but not all ) I just don't seem to be able to let a "Discussion" lay dormant.
Ah well, I hear the workshop calling out my name, I have to be there, it's my friend, as David Gates used to say.

what you need to do is create another account on S&F and converse with that person, kind of like turning the chess board around.

Just got back from the surgery------was hoping to get my license back today, no bloody chance, come back on the 5th December and we will "review" the situation.
Fighting with the insurance company who were quite happy to take £3,500 as a premium all the time I was fit and well, then cancel the policy half way through because I had a TIA.
I would have thought that an annual policy covered you for a year--------Think again------they cancel the policy, but I can't have a rebate although I'm no longer insured. Guess those thieving lying bastard insurance companies cover their arses in every direction.
Nobody should talk to me for the next couple of days--------I'm breathing fire and brimstone !
