Told him the only thing wrong with the engine is you ! Ok he yelled at me, you race it, so I did and won three races on the trot--------he took it back and went and won the "DUCHESS".

Her who shall be obeyed dragged me round the big stores in Chichester this morning, the appliances we have here are either built in, big or old, time for change methinks ------the MAYTAG washing machine does a 14 lbs wash in 30 minutes-------is 16 years old but runs like a swiss watch, but it does have a tendency to leap about the Tilly room floor now and again.
Dishwasher and microwave are "built in"----dining room table has fallen from grace and the chairs from IKEA are falling to bits-------guess what ------fifteen hundred quidsworth of guess what, and life's a bowl of cherries !

Suddenly, after 25 years of faithful service the cutlery needs replacing------kitchen goddess has decreed she never really liked the silver plated eating irons in the first place. Tried telling her knives and forks don't grow on trees you know! All fell on deaf ears, mind was made up, we walked out the store with twelve of everything--------I pointed out that there was only two of us, what in the name of J.C. did we need a dozen sets of everything for? Hells teeth, I doubt if we even know twelve people, was liking talking to a brick wall, wallets empty, Barclays next stop !

Get the keys to the bungalow in the morning--------show you some piccies tomorrow!

when I quit racing, my mechanic Chas Shooter teamed up with Bob Spalding and Tom Percival. Tom decided he was going to buy a new RV and took Chas out to the USA to buy one. Tom settled on a massive forty footer, (I don't even remember what make it was). As they were driving it to the docks for shipment to England, Tom asked Chas how it compared with the GMC, Chas replied, IT DONT, JACKIES GOT STYLE AND PANACHE, SOMETHING THIS WILL NEVER HAVE.
Guess that just about sums up the 26'GMC 6 wheeler-------"STYLE AND PANACHE", light years ahead of its time-----stiffen up those air bags and you had a racer------back off the pressure and you had a Cadillac.
Wonder if there is an equivalent manufactured anywhere in the world today that could hold a candle to that piece of kit ?

Sorry Pilgrim, no time to read car ads today------start of another adventure-----damned if I'm going to grow old gracefully.
Todays agenda reads---7:30 am, Scrapyard-----8/8:45 Car boot to collect dining room table I bought on Thursday------9:00 am pick up the keys from estate agents (Realtor), 10 am new silent compressor being delivered, build first worktop, fit vice and stainless earthing plate, 12;00 noon , lunch then a power nap ---------see what sort of shape I'm in after that.

I got eighteen fixed permanent but can easily double that with extension leads-----upgraded the fuses and cut outs and put sixteen mm cable from the main house fuse box and 100 amp fuses-----was a tad worried when the 12mm cable began to melt every time I used the welder.

A blast from the past. I found this post on Willabee's "Hot Singles" thread from 12/7/2005, almost 12 years ago...back when you both were on speaking terms.

    "#22 -
Jackie Wilson - 17' Molinari marathon - Cowbell - Havasu 1970- If you have ever talked to Jackie, you know that every other sentence has a " bloody hooray " in it someplace. I had our boat painter make a couple of decals with that term on them. I presented them to Jackie at Havasu, he laughed and said that he would display them proudly I guess you can't see them the way this picture turned out, but that's what it says in the white rectangle just in front of his number."

Just once or twice in life you get a really great lift out of a happening. It happened to me yesterday.
I bought a silent Bambi compressor from a young man who lived in Bognor Regis, took me into his workshop and there was a part built Sunbeam S7 of 1950/s era, we got to chatting and after a while he told me he was a "Chippie" (Carpenter), Yesterday morning TED delivered the compressor to the new workshop--------just before he left he asked me how old I was, so I told him 85 in a couple of weeks! He then said-----how about I come over Sunday morning and build your benches and shelves, I have three brothers who are all carpenters, so I'll see if I can get some help. What time can we start?
Upshot of all this is, at 9:00 am he's coming to start on my new workshop------turns out here are still some very nice people in the world who just reach out and give you a lift when it's least expected!

The road of life is a mysterious thing. You never know what tomorrow is going to bring. Sometimes, when you think that life has taken you down a dead end street, you later realize that it was only to get you to a better place. Not long ago you were sadly closing down your old shop that had been your best friend for so many years. Now, out of nowhere, a few kind "chippies" swoop in and are probably going to build you a better shop that you could have imagined. You just never know where the road is going to take you, but hang on for the ride...
