Remarkably clear video from the time. Nice footage. The very beginning was boat #22...& the chap on the dock in the blue, touching the top sparkplug, sure looked like Jackie. I'll hold on to my Mae West, for the answer...

Thats a a fifty ----two pot Carniti, guy leaning over it with the cigarette is Johnny Walker, a Mercury dealer from Brighton.
Sold the boat to Tony Williams who turned it over in the first heat, then as an encore, did it again in the second.

Looks kind of like a needle nose Critchfield. I drove trailer for Brooke Russell at that race.

That is a 14'Allison---got it from Brooke. Mike and I cut it down--light plywood deck, put my 500 on it--presto--a cut-down, kneel-down Allison; Herbie still beat me--

Told you about Tony Williams who flipped twice in his first two races-------Commandatori Cyril Benstead told me " If he does it again in the next race, you're out of here and take him with you".

Tony went on to become a very good driver and World Champion in F1 in the FONDA Series.

He's still alive and well, still married to Linda and runs an equestrian centre just north of London.
Would have made a great ambassador for powerboating----educated at the Sarbonne in Paris, spoke French like a native.
Fell out with him big time, (as I did with most of my friends) , but in those days I had " ambition"and a lot of front--------not much has changed I guess.

trouble was Stevie, we thought those days would never end, so it didn't really matter whether anyone made movies or took pictures------there was always going to be a next time--------that's what it felt like. .
