Finally worked out the exhaust system for the spit-----spent half the day working on a pair of six pipe manifolds with cut off stubbies threaded the pipes and the seating ------shaped em , streamlined them, then binned the damn things-----abject failure!
Then I had one of my mad fits of depression-----the fog lifted, simple idea, problem is no more !
Ate Bar, both this morning and afternoon------still chuffed to bits the way the spits coming along, too good to be true.

Had a stellar day at the car boot sale-------I haven't seen a wooden spokeshave for three months, then Voila just like buses, there's an abundance -----seemed every stall had them ----- I bought five in all, ones a corker with a brass sole plate. Total cost was two pounds fifty pence.
Two nice die holders, a couple of antique carving chisels, a watchmakers miniature adjustable, a deusey of a hook knife and two copies of "Motor Sport " from the sixties-------still had change out of a tenner.

Jilly spent the day at the hospice with Matt, that's one of the reasons I could soldier on , no interruptions .

Got a great mount figured out for the spit----might be the latter part of the week before I get any piccies posted !

Couldnt put the Motor Sport mags down, knicker wetting reading.
    J2Allard for £265------Aston Climax for £600 with a freshbuilt motor-----SS 100 Jaguar for £ 1495 ?

Im just going to take another peek, night night all MYGGWY.J.

Jackie---I have been reading, and enjoying most of your 'Tricks'---nearly two years??
I have admired all you have been able to do in your 'shop'---and am jealous that your shop is in your back yard

But---my shop is in my hangar---30 miles away!! and today was to be the culmination of a whole summers work---exciting stuff for an 84 year old!!!

Woke up this AM and it is snowing!!! and I-70 is closed!!!

What do you always say?? Bugger!!

or 'tomorrow is another day'?? Spent the day on the computer and I-pad--sound familiar??

Amazing how close we are considering you're so much older than me------

If that's what it takes before I can get folk to talk to me, then I hope the snow belt reaches the Keys any time soon!

That is one mother of a nose cone Gene, I just did a brass one for the Spitfire which I thought was pretty cool until I saw that one. Now I just "HAVE" to do one in polished alloy

When we came back to England searching for a house, our number one priority was in the country, away from busy roads so Murphy was safe, Number two, a decent workshop where I could potter in peace, Jilly could choose where, and any house she wanted after that!

Just wondered if you could build a house closer to the hanger, but I expect there are "MITIGATING CIRCUMSTANCES". It happens to everybody .
Hope you make it to the shop afore long Gene, drive carefully and remember to listen to your YOUNGERS ! J.

"HOPE". Just how would any of you out there describe "Hope".
Have a friend out there---Robert N.----- Talks to me on occasions privately, he could tell you exactly what hope is, .
We all have it , one way or another, to some, it's faith, to others a belief, some of us use it to hang on to-------to some, it's a lifeline.
Me myself use it all the time, yet I can't define it accurately -----it's a necessary part of everyday life, so today I hope you all have a nice day! J.

As you get older-----you get dafter----the dafter you get the more often you do stupid things !
Take last night, I'd just had a couple of stiff single malts or three, finished my dinner, sat down in my recliner with my feet up-------switched the TV on, took out my hearing aid and slid my wi-Fi headphones on. A little later Jilly brings me a couple of satsumas which I duly peel and eat, watch TV for an hour then get up for a glass of water, dumping the peel into the wood stove on the way.
Suddenly there's an explosion that rocked the chimney breast, reminded me of the Michael Caine film where he says-----I told you just to blow the feckin doors open !
It didn't click until I searched for my hearing aid what I'd done! -----Oh Sh-t.

I am trying to unscramble this mystery. Should I assume that you had placed your hearing aid in your lap and then covered it with the peelings from the satsumas and then dumped the whole lot in the wood stove causing the battery in your hearing aid to explode?

When I started the "Tricks" thread, I just wanted everyone to enjoy it and swop tales of the "Tricks" other folk got up to. So thanks for joining in Mr. BAILEY . Welcome to tricks !

Theres the the nose cone I told you about Gene, no where near as pretty as yours, as I said it's a concept in progress, my spot welder's missing a part and I have a multitude of projects waiting to be stitched together . J.

Told you before I was crap at taking piccies-------honest to murgatroyd the Spit looks a whole lot better in the flesh than it does in the phoggies. Another week and I should have something tangible to show!
No news whatsoever from Austin Tx. Lewis was showing off his skills in a go cart-----pretty sure today was practice, morning AND afternoon but he could have been bathing in the Bahamas for all the cover that was reported !

I'd had enough by four o'clock , was out there before eight this morning, didn't get a nap, just cream of water cress soup for lunch followed by a smelly Camembert that was delish !
Got a phone call from my great friend "Miguel". ( Nigel actually) told me that another of my all time great friends was in hospital . He was cycling the streets of San Francisco when his front wheel got stuck in the tramlines----landed on his head, tore his hip out, broke his collarbone , has multiple injuries, apparently his skid lid was totally destroyed but saved him from serious injury.

That sneaky old hooded bastard with the scythe over his shoulder is still skulling around, keep a weather eye peeled.

Another week just whizzed on by while I wasn't looking, clocks go back tonight signalling the onset of another damn long cold winter which I am not looking forward to, just the fact I'm still here playing with same set of marbles I have always had is something to be grateful for!

Hurricane Patricia caused the Friday practice to be called in Austin! Few drops of rain never hurt anyone and the amounts of gelt that these guys get is obscene anyway. Get off your backsides and "earn" it.

Bad day in the office, broke six drills trying to be clever stitching the tail plane to the fuselage, was in a foul mood all morning, bit cross with the world today------threw all the toys outa the Pram earlier on!

Decided to take a break from concepts for a while-----need to do something with a bit of meaning, restore a push bike, repair a catapult, need to get away from metal and back to wood.
