Your on! haha i can tell ya this. i dont know of any Allison side steers that dont have some form of counter weight for running solo. The GS is only about 5 inches shorter and a little narrower pad vees, weigh about the same at 950 lbs. On mine and most Grandsports guys use around 40-50lbs counter weight not including battery thats in the rear port compartment. Im 220lbs ishhhh and 45 worked perfect on my setup. i had 2 25lb lead shot bags in the gunnel laying on the floor just behind the front passenger seat. When i have a passenger I need to move one over to the starboard {R} side to get perfect balance so I dont have to steer the crap out of her to fly straight. I 25 lb dumbbell and 2 10 lb ones for 45 lbs total bet does the trick solo. If you start bumping the other way take a 10 lb out and put it in the centre bilge or middle seat and see if you can get away with 35 ect... you may even need more that 45?? buy moving my seat base side ways and having the option of sliding my weight right or left enabled me to loose 20 lbs off offset. Its a little strange at first steering from the side but i love it now. Dont even notice it but with passangers I can just adjust my seat to always find the right ballance point for running high on the pad so Im not fighting flopping over. Ill bet you find her more balanced with one passenger?

now that were talking about it I recall RBT telling me the 106 Tuff runs two small batteries on the port side hmmm interesting I went to a dive shop and bought these bags they use for divers there shot lead in fabric bags they work great 5lbs each, plus Mickey large let me borrow bags that he had which I have to return
it really sucks fighting the wheel, maybe I was pointing the finger at the wrong issue

Remember, there is a torque reaction from your motor / prop that transfers back through the hull and the steering wheel. In fact the more pitch / rake you run in a given prop, the worse it gets. Proper hydraulic steering will allow you to compensate for that torque reaction and not have to hold the wheel to keep the boat on course. Proper weight distribution will allow the boat to stay level (port to starboard) as you make minor steering corrections to compensate for chine walking, waves, wind, etc.

Thats what i said? Is it not? If you have the weight inside the boat to ballance it out then you should not need to do anything to ballance the hull to compensate for driver weight and prop torque is the best case scenario. The lighter the hull to more the sensitivity to weight and ballance. Yes or no?? If you are running a single battery on the port side on a very light hull and the driver is over 150lbs and the hull isn't a center steer the chances the hull isn't balanced as good as it can be is all Im saying and yes it will make a big difference if the hull IS balanced weather buy your own means or buy using what you have to work with as equipment. Its actually a very common practice with very high performance hulls.
But what do I know.
Just trying to help. Also not saying that solid mounts arnt better and laythem type steering put it all togeather and my wife could drop the hammer down on her. Well maybe not....haha

When you find the right style prop with the right setback you will not need any added weight in the boat.
You just haven't tried enough combo's yet. Keep up the good work !1990 22' Activator Yami HPDI 300-sold-86.4
