Thats a a not very good picture of a couple of a couple of Spitfires goofing off over Goodwood yesterday.
Chris Evans put a bunch of ferraris up for sale at the revival, he only got one point three mill, instead of the expected eight mill, the more expensive models failed to find a buyer!!

Miserable murky Monday morning, 60 MPH winds expected, autumn coming in like the avenging angel. My kids keep telling me to come to Florida for six months of the year but I'm not sure America is ready for me just yet. Think I could have got away with it fifty years ago, since then they opened up a holiday resort for folk like me, something called G bay.

Today is the 75th anniversary of the commencement of the Battle of Britain. To commemorate the occasion, BBC herded forty Spitfires and Hurricanes into Goodwood to make a TV documentary----if I get half a chance I'll post the vid on S&F!

Don't know if any of the old farts watch "Downton Abbey" or not, well on Sunday night it's the start of the very last series-------it's the sixth series and is in six parts.

Had a great day in the shop, got a real wriggle on, made big inroads into the all aluminium enclosed cockpit pickle, tunnel. May or may not use the beast on its bum, if I do that, it's going to turn out to be quite an expensive article. Not a lot of old farts could afford this one !
Might post a progress piccie tomorrow if I get time.

If you don't always do boats why does this piece have a keel and bulkheads?

You know what Rich, I never even realized that!
Guess there must be some long forgotten instinct still hidden down deep inside------bit like sex I suppose !

You will love this all alloy boat and motor-----probably the best piece I've ever done-----wore out two band saw blades-----ten abrasive discs-----two flap wheels----and five pairs of surgical gloves
    (only ever use the best).
I will try and post a piccie just to whet your appetite and prove I'm not talking out of my rectum!

God must have been on the beer last night, washing down his steak, chips and peas !----lots of wind and rain.
Taking Jills boy Matt out to lunch today-----he's the one that had the brain tumour removed-----unsuccessfully!
Will still get three hours in the shop today with a bit of luck.

Got another couple of hours in the hull, looks more like the sort of boat that the v8 s used to run----big old flat running barn doors sort of thing. Am quite pleased with the way it's coming along.
Tempted to do the boat Odell ran in the Bahamas 500 in aluminium, picked up a huge billet, think I can do something a bit special -----reckon Caddi would be interested?

It was just like the war was on here in West Sussex today, forty Spitfires and Hurricanes and a Blenheim bomber took to the skies to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain .
It was the largest gathering of fighter planes since the end of WW 2. They came from the four corners of the world to The Goodwood aerodrome, Canada, USA, FRANCE, ITALY, SPAIN, SOUTH AFRICA, AUSTRALIA-----anyone who had a spit was invited. Its got to make U Tube, take a peek, if it don't make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, then rigor mortis must have set in.

No sign of "Henri" yet. maybe it's the calm before the storm! we have yellow flood warnings issued with heavy prolonged rain showers!
Oh to be in England, now septembers here ! Swear when I was a kid the leaves from the trees used to fall about now, they seem to hang on until damn near Christmas, remember the old song, THE LEAVES SO BROWN CAME TUMBLING DOWN----remember--that September --in the rain. They don't write 'em like that anymore, where have all the Gershwings gone ? The Andy Williams and Perry Comos----the Clooneys and Fitzgeralds----Sinatras, Martins and Sammy D/s. All I hear these days is Rap Crap and screaming girlie bands! Must be getting old !

Have a full day in the shop planned---should get the all ally outfit finished and mounted, polished and pictured----but you know the old adage " the best laid plans of mice and men"!

Well, it's done for now-----may change the deck to stainless, get a better finish. Its not supposed to represent anything except an oversize motor with an oversized prop on an undersized boat. does that sound familiar. .
Put the Johnson sticker on there for a bit of mischief, nothing more.

It's funny how you finish a piece, look at it , think what you would do different if you started all over again.
engine proved quite difficult, still didn't turn out the way I intended but the hull came right off the top of my head, no piccies or drawings. Managed to hide most of the fixings, in fact it's impossible to see how the motor's fixed to the transom. Just required a touch of smart thinking.
I got a couple of half cobbled sail boats that need finishing, it was a chunk of worm infested Holly with a bloody great split down the Middle, holes were only in the bark which came off anyway.
Should really chuck one of the bits away, but it will do to give someone for Christmas, save buying a present! .

Singapore GP this weekend, one of the places we raced the FONDA series at for many years!
Night races seem to be the accepted practice these days, Lewis needs to make hay while the Mercedes is still ahead of the field, won't be long before Honda, Ferrari and Renault get their acts together.
Man of the moment seems to be Hamilton but that can change overnight, could be an interesting race.

Just hit me, I should have done a much shorter five inch mid section on the beast, see what I can throw together tomorrow, should get another full day in the shop.
