Turbos are great for making up for low air density as they rev harder in thin air

The exhaust manifold needed for a turbo would be labor intensive on an outboard I would think.

What i have seen of dirks boat so far it is all gelcoat.
it should also be noted that the boats come stock with a 30 gallon plastic tank.

notching the hull of a 21 linder did NOTHING for top end, it gave better control.
remember 2 local previously running/set up boats with no other modifications besides the notch reported this so its not opinion.

With the exception of relative humidity (point taken earlier that Canada also has some) it looks like all other items are/can be pretty much neutralized. So perhaps it is more like a 300XS Tuff is 105mph on demand in Canada, 104mph in Strong Island and 103mph in Cuban waters.

I'm sticking with 91.6mph top speed with the Evinrude 300 fully factory. If Dirk moves to a transom mounted water pickup I'd raise the number to 95 even but I suspect that would void the BRP warranty which aint worth it. Having an on demand 90mph SOB when conditions are right, that can also run real rough water like New York Harbor and that has 7 years of trouble free use ahead of it is plenty appealing.

im sorry to differ with the people that gave you these reports, in my particular case it was worth at least 3 to 5 mph, and the boat was somewhat eaiser to drive without the notch, between 80 and 85 mph maybe but when the 21 Linder variant enters the relm of north of 90mph its a totally different specices, these boats were never designed to go the speeds there doing today, although the design is a testement to George Linder, there was only a handful of 90 plus boats on the GSB, and even less between 95 and 100, and only 2 at 100 plus on the GSB,
it appears all the 21 Tuffs are notched and airaided and they are ALL VERY FAST so he must be on to something, but we shall see soon enough wont we? yes Im going to initinally rig it with the BPR, to TRY and prove that we can go fast with other motor manufacter options, but I also have a 300x coming to try and break the Canadian 106 mark, maybe maybe not we shall see that soon enough too, you and i have discussed the 30 gal tank, and are in agreement that its ridiculous, but he did it for a reason, there on a lake and fuel capacity is a non issue, therefore giving him the opportunity to save weight, and money, but on the other hand in his effort to reduce construction costs he used plywood on the bottom and sides of the seats, which is a penny foolish decision...and that statement is a fact, which was reafirmed by my inside sources, both manufacting cost reductions are past on not as a savings to the customer but a profit to the manufacter....

Some of my work is silicone B molds, far beyond the regular bag. I have worked with pre-preg but it is not small shop friendly.

thats why Tuff is doing it, if there was no advantage, he wouldnt add another operation to the manufactering process, its time consuming and costly, no manufactorer would add an operation if didnt yeild results, when the Red indimiadator was hatched, we all had full bottoms, sometime after Herb was burning up the bay, the idea for us was born, joey ECM came up with that idea, and we had many lunch meeting with Linder and Lurhs over the concept, Superboat Bob did the first couple, if I remember correctly Venomus traveled from NJ to have one done By Superboat Bob on his Challenger, but again heavy boat, and couldnt produce the north of 90 speeds, which the notch benifited, but again if my memory serves me right he was elated with the outcome, but he can comment on that, The indimadater is fast becauce herb applied the time tested concept, reduce the weight and you go faster, saying that try it who knows you may find more speed, I beleive every Superboat Challenger, Tuff is slightly different, weight, and bottoms, we were blue printing the bottoms years ago for that very reason...

I owned an original 82 shadow it had a notch I believe all the Linder Lurhs shadow boats did
my under standing is they did that to add set back with out adding set back to the transom

the tuff's on the other hand are adding notch and a lot of set back..... Somewhere between 18" and 22"

the smaller tank is to move the CG back, not necessarily to save money I think
