Did you weigh the boat yet on a good scale? I said the rear bench seat would be less than 105lbs and it was. I have an excellent idea of what the hull will weigh in at sans gas.

or you could just put 10 gals less of gas and have the same result. and not take apart good seats.

really the operative word is if your absolutly right Mcnights design is georgous, but the design of the shell has flaws based on the material that was used, think about it, your the builder, would you use outdated, extremly heavy material thats susceptible to water intrusion, I dont think so, especially if your building a state of the art go fast boat, but to answer your question, no Im not changing them their John mcnights design and their beautiful.....

Wow- I don't pay attention for a few days and one of the better threads ever happens. Some thoughts :

1- Dirk - good for you for trying something different. I had a lot of people telling me I was nuts when I had my boat built, when I chose the original engines, etc. I originally went with the merc version of a fishing motor, the 250 pro xs. They don't even sell them counter rotating , or didn't at the time. I loved driving around worry free knowing if it broke , it would be fixed. Of course , after two seasons of trying to play with props, and engine heights I decided to go with more hp to hit my target speeds and found a great deal on a set of 300 xs's I was also was finding that to get the pro xs's were I wanted , I need to do solid mounts, etc, and probably would have voided the warranty. Basically- either mod a 250 a lot or just step up and roll the dice. But I have been happy with both and look forward to seeing how yours turns out.....and if I see you at Bergin point...I wouldn't mind a ride
2- have loved my 300 xs's, little or no issues and they definitely get used, and my boat is no trailer queen. Compared to the 250's I had, they have had less problems because they are built for a little rougher application .
3- ghost is not only my mechanic , but my friend. His work is impeccable. You have to be good if no matter who sees his work, boat builders, marina owners, shade tree experts , etc , whenever they look at it they go....'wow , that work is tight '. His advice is always spot on (yes ghost- time for the stainless marine setback) and on a personal level....he is one of the few people we trust our kids with. Just my opinion
4- interesting how after years of hearing tuft vs every other sob built known to man arguments.....it turns out that the builder of the best boat on the planet has some shady business practices. I guess the truth floats to the top.

let me start by saying "where the heck have you been" I watched your boat over the years with great admiration, I know you spent the time and money to make it fast and beautiful, on the other hand George is one of the most compitent riggeres mechanics I know,is wiring is insane, to look at the back of a guage panel that he wired, to me is like looking at a Rembrant or a Picaso, I would be thrilled to take you for a ride, better yet you drive,
The isuue with Mark is a very distrubing one, theres a reason why his boats are not here and are exclusivly in Canada, he could never do business here in the manor in which he attemted with me, but thats for another thread "IS TUFF TOUGH ENOUGH"

I have told this Tuff story( verifiable, documented, without prejugice) to at least 10 people, all have come up with the same conclusion, underhanded, unsrupulous, deceitful, business practices.........now his inventory is off his site! how nice Mr. Wiggle Waggle...
when Im done with him hes going to have to make a planter out of that 28 Tuff, he can plant Bull**** trees in it which is indigenous to his persona......
