Monday, Monday, just love that day. Momma Cass, what a voice! California Dreaming, 1970/s was our time! Still living the life ,the way I learned to back then.
Was the Isle of Wight festival last week, Glastonbury this, try as they might, won't ever be the same as Woodstock, another priceless memory.
Talked to Billy about Havasu . 1970, There was a film crew offering big money for drivers to go down to Mexico and shoot some boat racing scenes, I couldn't go, I had to get back home in a hurry but I remember a bunch of drivers who did. anyone remember what the film was called ?

Got a few piccies of the awesome gear case i made for the Straight six stacker, put on one of the 45mm three blade cleavers Gary sent me over.
The motor looks fearsome , Stacks, Steering Bar, A to die for gear case and an outa sight wheel. As a concept it works, all oak polished pickle with filler caps and cockpit cowl, proportions are all wrong, but as this is only a "CONCEPT", i might just be able to get away with it-------it needs an outstanding mount to really show off its personality. post the piccies in a coupla hours, tell me what you all think.

Gave the oak a coat of beeswax, it has a really neat flower running through it, couple more coats and it should begin to look the biz.
Cleaver is so outrageously oversize it just might work.
should have done a picture of the motor on its own, really does come across as a mean mini racing outboard. One day I will learn how to take piccies that flatter, just don't have the time or space to set up for studio pics, anyway with my stuff you just have to use your own imagination.
Start off with an old fart with time, a bunch of tools, a touch of imagination, very little skill , but a memory of times, shapes and motors long gone but not forgotten, no patterns or drawings, just an eye for things, people I've met and places I've been. Got a love of life and an appreciation of things that touched me along the way. Seen the same look in a few of the folks that wander round Tavares in early November, they are the few that know the direction I'm heading and what it is I'm trying to say!
I still have time to stop and smell the roses, still get a kick when a friend, or an old racer, or someone I just happen to like takes time out to say,---"-Jackie, think you can do me a model of the boat I used to race", answer is always the same, If you can make do with a concept or trust what comes out of my head I'm happy to give it a try.
Roger H bought the biggest wing I ever made, Rich L, asked me to do a special trophy,( best thing I ever made), John Schubert asked if would do a Jonrude Molinari, then followed up with another for Jeff Briggs, Mark Rathmell has fond memories of the Molinari Sprint that we both owned, he had to have one didn't he.? As for ROTORY John, the Jonrude ROTORY was an absolut must, just lucky it turned out as well as it did.

You only dream a Merc could turn a prop of that size. What it really needs for that size prop is a rotary!

"Mark Rathmell has fond memories of the Molinari Sprint that we both owned, he had to have one didn't he.?"

Johno, one of the people who's opinion meant a great deal to me once said -----NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF THE OBJECTIVE------A most valuable lesson! Think about it!

To turn a prop that size, you would need a motor that fired up on demand, every time you asked it, ran like clockwork, time after time after time, always crossed the finish line, and was ready for the next race. Sound familiar? (I did not start this one Johnno, I'm taking the fifth) . Will Stick a prop that size on your ROTORY, take a piccie, then you can give me an honest answer.

Woke up to sunshine, wonder if it 'll still be there the rest of the day?Just to give Johnno's suggestion a snowballs chance in hell of a ROTORY even LOOKING as good as a Merc in race trim, I will polish the nuts ofn the cleaver before I offer it to the old Wankel!
Promise you this is the last time I get into it over that damn Wankel!
Geeze! How to influence people and make friends, talk ROTORY! Or run riot in a street with a Luger.
Call a Texan a "Woofter" or a Muslim a raghead! It always winds up the same----not politically correct! 'Nuff said!
Determined to finish off some of the stuff that's "nearly there"-------like six wings, four Molinaris and half a dozen golf trophies, need to tidy up my act, workshop, and mind, age and illness make for sloppy old gifts, mustn't fall into that trap!
Time to rise and shine, shower, and put on some of the Tommy Bahama smelly that Lynne sent over for me, enjoy your day, I'm going to, look out for the pics of the "Dream On" ROTORY!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, every dog has its day, the ROTORY finally came good in the nineties at Le Mans,
    Mazda entered three 787 B four rotary motors, 700 hp @ 9000rpm.
Finished First, sixth and eighth, Johnny Herbert took the lead in the 21st hour and didn't stop until the finish line.
Car is in the Mazda museum in Tokyo , but this week all three will be doing the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
