Big thanks once again BobV, where DO you find them ?
The time has come as the walrus said, to speak of many things---------- OK so the tale starts like this.------
We had arranged to go to lunch at the "Fish Factory" in Littlehampton with Jilly's brother Dave and his wife. Meet at our house around noon. They arrived in their brand new Renault Megane and parked up in front of the house. Had a swift half and decided I would do the driving in the Lexus. Four of us jumped in the said vehicle, buckled up, I reversed (as I have done a thousand times before) out of the drive into the lane, spun the wheel hard right and took the side out of his Megane and the front plastic bumper off'n the Lexus.
I kinda kicked the bumper back under the near side wing and carried on to the fish factory, Dave, bless his cotton socks kept making remarks like, "nice to keep it in the family", was only last week I was bragging the only accident I had ever had in 65 years was, when I backed into Jill's son Ivan's Saab ragtop.
Lunch was just a tad stunted, I felt like sh-t.
Got the first quote for the Lexus, shade over $1,000 for a chunk of plastic, shudder to think what the tin work on the bloody French car will be!!!
Went to the car boot sale this morning, bought a dozen carving chisels to go with the fifty I already have (why the hell do I keep doing this)?
Came home and attacked the covered back passage with real hate and venom, knocked three sheets of sh-t out of it, should finish it tomorrow .
Lets face it, It's not everyday you take your brother in law out to lunch and get a bill for a couple grand before you even leave the driveway .
After reading that through, it's like the script for an Abbot & Costello movie, I need rest in huge doses, MYGGWY . J.

It's a head down, arse up sort of day, encountered a couple of problems, like Steve my next door neighbour telling me it looks like a homeless shelter and to build a trellis fence so he can't see it while he eats his breakfast-----told him easiest thing is to skip breakfast------that's when he hit me the first time!!
Get back to you tonight!

Well the lid is on the back passage--------it may look like a squatters camp, but at least it's watertight, transferred all the steel, alloy and timber-----tracked it and stacked it.
Taking the day off tomorrow, need to see one of my very best friends since my teenage years , his name is ADAM LASZCZAR and he's a pollock . When he was 10 years old, him and his 16 year old brother walked from WARSAW to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka ) with just a catapult (slingshot to colonials) to knock over anything they could eat. Started out in spring 1940 when Gerry invaded Poland ------took the two years to get there. Came to England in 1946, got separated, brother wound up in America, Adam stayed here. Got one of my weird feelings, have to talk to him, so I'm taking time out. If all goes well I'll tell you about him, his story ranks alongside, GIANT, & GONE WITH THE WIND, it's an absolutely classic tale of will and determination. Would make a great story to tell a bunch of old farts round a Barbie one fine November evening.
Not much to tell you tonight --------Suzuka this weekend, a real drivers course, and it usually manages the odd typhoon to keep the interest alive -----should be quite interesting.
Our Indian summer comes to a sudden halt on Sunday with ten days heavy rain forecast, switched the pool motor off in preparation for winter, wonder if DONMAC started closing down yet, did Gary get his workshop finished, has ROTORY JOHN forgiven me yet for not liking wankels, no doubt, all this and more besides will be discovered over the next few weeks.
If you feel like commenting on any of these topics, please feel free to do so, meanwhile,MYGGWY. J.

Makes me feel better already Johno. Been out the back doing a few jobs, like making a base for the exotic wood pile and building a screen to keep my neighbour happy. Leaving shortly to see my old friend ADAM, haven't given him any warning, just want to surprise him.
Have a great weekend Johno, are we going to see you at Tavares in november, i sincerely hope so.J.

speaking of old stuff
Jackie would remember UK Commer trucks with the old flat ( 2 stroke) knockers...( they were also in OZ)
They are under serious development again http://www.achatespower.com/

Whilst I well remember the "Commer." Marquez ( I had a Commer camper van for a goodly number of years) I had never heard of the 2piston single cylinder motor.
Read through all the bumph on the aforementioned but it's water across a ducks back to me. Lot of talk of 1200 hours testing, lots of chi-iking about emissions -----nothing about power output or fuel economy. Suppose they have to justify 50 million dollars worth of investment, it don't make for exciting biting to me.
ROTORY John is the only guy I know who could make head or tails of the blurb-----looks like R & D is swallowing shed loads of dollars and they're trying to justify it.
Dont ever remember an OZ running that configuration, refresh my memory, or are you just pulling my plonker pilgrim?

You know sometimes in your life you get real excited about something and you go searching, only to find it terribly disappointing when you reach the goal, you are about to score and everything turns to worms.
There was nobody home at Adams place, just five cars parked there, went to his daughter Nats house, nobody there, tried another daughter, no car there either went to his golf driving range, it's closed down.
On reflection, I should have maybe called to let him know I was coming, but I have never done that in over 60 years, can't describe the disappointment I felt!!!
Was way past lunchtime so I thought I would treat meself to a Big Mac and a tub of skinny fries, got stuck in the drive through which reached half a mile down the road, tried to reach the dine in car park ----same thing there-----200 cars waiting to get in--------there was no way I was going to eat at Mc Donald's till evening. I thought, sod this for a game of soldiers I'll do without, which is what I did.
Now had time to kill, so I looked up my old secretary Jane, she lost her husband two years ago, gave up driving at 82 and has cocooned herself, given up the scotch she always enjoyed , can't even walk to the village store anymore, just watches TV from an easy chair, came away suffering mad fits of depression .
Was bloody glad to get home to a couple of large CC7's and a nourishing plate of egg and chips, watched TV from the comfort of my Recliner. Hope you can understand the deflated sort of day I've had.
Mark called to see if he should book me a room at Key west -----had to say no can do, just doing the OFF meeting this time.
Finally have to be up early tomorrow to finish "IT" this is the lid on the back passage. Night, night, MYGGWY J.

Sorry Jackie
OZ meant Australia
referring to the point that a engine design relegated to history in the 60's is relevant again.
http://www.oldengine.org/members/die...terts3/ts3.htm , they were louder than a screaming Detroit.
The design came from road tax based on cylinders

Now your cooking with gas,-----thats a very interesting piece of kit-----what would normally be the con rod connection looks a bit pisspotical and prone to vulnerability, blowers and superchargers always seemed to put massive pressures on the other bits.
Slap four of these on top of each other (a la ROTORY ) and you could have a controversial propulsion unit.
atchetaspower could do worse than take a look at the Rootes Lister illustrations, maybe issue their own piccies, instead of just telling us they got $50,000,000 and high hopes!!
Thanks again for the info.
Looks like Suzuka's a cock up, monsoon ----or typhoon----it's drowned Alonso on lap one, thirty minute delay, survival of the fittest, fortune , good luck, whatever
that was posted at 7-30 (my time) this morning, but S&F in their wisdom decided to shelve it, came back 8hours later -------can't get the staff!!!
Hamilton won in the wet and the whole shebang move over to Putinavia for next weeks performance-----Ecclestone would put his old granny on the streets of Hamburg if he thought he could make a mill or two for F1.
Get back to you later-----J.

It's late and I got caught up in the "Molinari" thread, (why the hell do I do this) I promised I would only spout on this thread, but me and my opinions and mouth just will not be denied. WILLABEE has the right idea------stick to your own subject. My sainted mother used to tell me I had too much opinion and an uncontrollable mouth------mum was a wise old biddy.
Got most of the lid on the lean to but am a full sheet short to finish the job----decided to give the walls and fence and floor a "Karcher"makeover. Forecast is God has been holding it in for too long and is about to take a leak for the next 10 days, so batten down the hatches and get the Ark ready.
Have you been reading POWERABOUTS comments on old/new engine configuration ie; two piston single cylinder two strokes, as they used to say on Rowan and Martins "Laugh in" VERY INTERESTING.,!!!
Petters and Listers used to do single cylinder plonk-plonk motors that lasted for ever, mostly used in cement mixers and fishing boats, bet there's a wankel somewhere doing a similar job-----if it don't have to work hard it would probably go the distance. I've got to stop antagonising rotary lovers.
Nothing planned for next week, no dining out, no relations to see or visit-------I'm free!!!
Just over a month to the OFF 2014, have to say I'm looking forward to seeing old friends again and listening to Seebold bitch about something or other, and seeing if the old farts have aged any less than me.
Body's shutting down on me so sweet dreams mes amies and MYGGWY .J.
