I was right, both events are nearly a total sell out, there are just a few limited tickets left for the Friday. Was told it was best to book tickets 12 months in advance.

Best to get a grandstand for at least one day to enjoy the circuit stuff in some comfort....

Went Friday last year and enjoyed it immensely , blistering day, could not get into the auction, it was catalogue only and the price was astro. Was hoping I could find somebody to piggyback, or at least somebody who owed me a favour, but I seem to have used .'em all up long ago and I am not on Lord March's Christmas list.
Spent the whole day wrapping all the gear I sold on Ebay, took it all down the post office----brought 90 percent of it back -----if it weighed more than 8oz, they wanted the national debt, it would have cost me money to sell it. While telling the postmaster what a thieving crook he was, a kindly gent told me about "My Hermes" which is a new delivery service that takes parcels up to 15 kilo (34 lbs) for a fraction of what the GPO charges.
Spent the next hour getting the 10 items booked in, labeled and paid for on line, great service. They pick them up from the house tomorrow.
Consequently I never set foot in the shop today.
Did pick up a dead mouse Murphy brought in----her indoors stood on a chair screaming for me to get rid of it------------funny things WOMEN. Absolutely no sense of humour some days. Night all,j.

This is is without a doubt the most fantastic piece of true engineering I have ever come across, everything works as it did in the original. Trick is ------it's to 1/6th scale, I am totally gobsmacked and overawed. The work of a genius!

when I first saw this my first reaction was to throw in the towel, lock up the shop and walk away, after a nights sleep, common sense prevailed, there will always be the Einsteins and Renoirs and Gates in this world, but somewhere out there I think there's enough room for me and my efforts too. All I have to do is raise my game a tad.
Its bloody Thursday again and 6am, time for the car boot sale, talk later.

Didn't sound electric to me. I kinda like the chair idea myself. Besides, 20,000 hrs. is pretty close to 10 yrs. I would suggest you just keep trucking along just as you are. It's much nicer than jumping off the chair. I even like some of your stuff.

More than anything, I want as many people as possible to talk on this site, it's about all of us, hopes, heartbreaks, what we nearly did, and a lot of what we actually did, so please, everyone join in anytime.
Oh dear, oh dear, what have you done? If I get onto the capers that Chas and I got up to on long summer evenings ----for no particular reason -----and because we could,------ bear in mind he lived 220 miles up the road with a little old place called London in between, you may understand the stupid enormity of our pleasures. Now these tales of derring do and adventures galore may take a while to unfold as it's half a lifetime ago and Chas copped his clogs two years ago and entrusted me to tell a decent narration of some of the events that shaped both our lives.
Don Ross was my long time friend and co driver for years , when he retired he bought a hotel in Torquay with a bar----mainly used by Don and his boat racer pals.
So , let The tales begin, where the hell do I start ?

Hey Jackie you mentioned your old mate Don Ross who I raced against many times he was I brilliant story teller made everything seam so easy but did romance a little.He was one of the top boat racing drivers in the UK in the sixties and seventies but I see no mention of him on Fastonwater could we not find a few photos and race reports to put them straight?.How old would he have been today Jackie?.

Well thank you Johnno, kind words and coronets, underneath all that crusty exterior you probably have a heart and feelings------in the end analysis you know -----we are not so very different.
Was once talking to a guy from Lancashire and I tried to explain the only difference between us ------I got to choose!!!

Don was a fun guy to be around, smoked 40 ciggies a day and a cup of tea with every one of them , laced with 3spoons of sugar and a goodly dollop of tinned milk. We always carried the " makings" wherever we were in the world. Flew into Chicago, hired a car, found a Walmart and bought a gas bottle, kettle, tea, sugar, and carnation , ( couldn't buy Ideal in Wisconsin) plastic container, cups ,spoons, we would have bought a cow but it was only a compact. Drove all the way to Havasu and collected 2citations.----but we were never dry.
Don would have been well over 90 by now. He was fine until the accident in Amsterdam, where he tore his hip out, took him a long time to get over that.
Don had a Ford transit camper van, Bob Spalding, me and don towed the little SHultze down to The Idroscala in Milan and raced in the 6 hours----think that was Bobs first ever race abroad.
Renato never built a 18' again, the 17' Shultze with a1000 BP was quicker than his 1250 BP by 5mph. Even Dieter had an 18' and 1250. We were quicker than him too, he told us we were mad to race the little boat----he had designed it for the 65 hp Koenig,
We had been testing props at Rolla's for 5 days and gone from 65 mph to 78, we could run full fuel load and a steady prop at 72. There was not a boat there that could match it for speed.

Wow, what a day it's going to be today, forecast says it could reach 27 C, hottest day of the year so far. Pool was up to 27c yesterday .Hotter than Rio.
Invasion starts on Sunday , it's Father's Day here and I know 2of my girls are coming and there's no telling who they will bring.
Have to tie up the sweet peas, they've gone do-lally over the last week with all this sunshine, maybe I can get back in the shop after that. Time for my shower and "tussy peg scrub" only three originals left nowadays.

She also called 'stairs'-------DANCERS.? Never was able to work that one out!!!
Mum had a very broad Yorkshire accent and when it was bed time she would yell at my brother and me------GET UP THEM DANCERS AND DONT FORGET TO SCRUB YER TUSSY PEGS--------I was 65 the last time she yelled that at me!!! ( I had only 3 of my own left by then, the other 27 were Bradley Walsh).
