I think you need zero trim at top speed. Watch out dont blow it over.

    Last HST,

So I gues you are running a 3.0 litre on the HST? What speeds are you getting?
Isnt the 3.0 a bit too heavy?

Is your HST stock weight or is it light?

    Thx

Yea..but I guess it would prolly depend where your Jackplate is at...Do you have a Hydraulic Jackplate?????I would say Im somewheres about an 1 1/2 or so above pad at topspeed .........

When I first was learning my HST I drove it around -1inch to level with the pad alot..if I got it too high to soon the ass end got squirly and would kinda kick out...gotta give it time to take a set as they say...alittle nice wind chop seemed to help at first..just make minor bumps on trim and jack

i do have a hydro jackplate
i am running it about 1-5/8+ above the pad ...
when i get into it i trim it up then it bounces a little until about 70+ it starts packing air i touck down a click on the trim and hold it but it feels like the boat is aired out ... it doesnt feel like it is running flat. but im not sure because i dont really have many videos of it running. im just wondering once you start packing air are you actually trimming it down a bit to flatten it out?

i dont feel like it is going to blow over simply because of the fact it feels very stable yesterday at exactly 90mph it felt so stable i felt like i wanted to more trim out but im hesitant at those speeds because i look at these vids and it seems like you guys are running so flat...

ive gotten alot better at driving the hst but im just wondering about a few tendencies of the hsts

my old 235 vector was more of a balancing act this hst seems like its going to get used to to break 100mph

i ran 97.1 a couple weeks ago and havent been able to get back to that speed lasst time i was out its bothering the hell out of me
Hope for the best, expect the worst...

I dont know if you seen the vid we shot the first summer I got this HST...at the end Im runnin a little over 100...Do ya run like that????If so I dont really think I would worry about Blowing over..unless ya do something real stupid with the trim...like trim the wrong way alot .. I trim it way far past the bounce ...then mid 90's start trimmin down ,jack up little by little...but thats mine
Ya I had a Vking......the HST is totally differant..actually easy once ya time it all right

MIne rocks that way, after 100 it just loves to be flattened out and a the motor jacked up. Man I have thrown a ton of gearcases in the scrap heap though.

what gearcases have you run? any input on the cle?

why are you going through gearcases? surfacing the prop that bad on em?? thanks

CLE does'nt work all that well. It's too short for top ending, they turn exceptional though. Running to 100 was okay, but after that on this particular hull the ass would wag around especially crossing wakes.200 cases with a bobs cone were wonderfull to 110 or so, but I went though cases like crazy if I pushed for top end beyond that. The sporty is great. I ran to 128 with that case but it had some quirks up top, and/or I was at the limit of set up. Slowing down was very tricky.

All I have on the boat right now is a 1979 150 with 130 psi heads, a wee bit of port work, wh-22 carbs, 200 tuner, and a preload 2:1 gearcase with a hydromotive cone. It ran 86 in the cool air tonight and I burned 9 gallons of gas in 54 miles with a some idling at 750 rpm. And you don't even have to touch the steering wheel on top end.
