I have an 89, but don't know about adjustable plates. It came with aluminum tunnel extensions that protrude past the back but were never adjustable. Never have used them though as I believe they were meant to help when carrying heavy loads and skiing people.

You are doing pretty good at 190 with the 280 based on speeds I have compiled from others over the year. I do think you could get it into the teens with work on the setup. I think most of the higher numbers involve a clever usually.Setback looks good, but where are you running the prop in regard to the pad? Weight is a big thing too as others have said. A lot weight in around 950 on the hull, but many nowadays have water in the foam within the sponsors, which can weight quite a bit.

I have a work steel sleave carbed 2.5 doing 95 with 29 RE4 on a sporty, but I think I can get 100 out of it with another prop and additional tuning on the engine (need new stator and leaning the jets).

By the way, that is the first HST I have seen handing on davits. How do you have the bow hooked up?

Looking at the picture I don't see any plates on the tunnels. Did you take them off? From this angle it looks just like my 89.

I used a soft tie down used for a motorcycle 12" long 3800 lbs. nylon webbing doubled over. plenty strong. Hopefully the bow eye won't pull out! The 2 stern eyes pulled out luckily I caught it b/f the boat dropped. Had to reinforce the stern and put bigger eyes, now it's good.

I had washers between the back edge of the plates and the tunnels but reading an article on this site I took them out and sealed up around all the edges. I haven't had a chance to put it in the water since then, hopefully it was the right thing to do?

Had it in the water yet? Wondering if it made any difference. Why don't you just take the ally plate away?

Made a big difference. I bought this boat when I was 25 , I'm pushing 50 now. I was never able to lift the bow with using the trim on the engine. The nose was very heavy and I had a hard time breaking loose from smooth water. Last time out that all changed, the plates aren't pushing the nose down anymore. It was hard to get between 90 & 100 with the tabs down. Now its easy but I have to learn how to fly it all over again.
