Made a big difference. I bought this boat when I was 25 , I'm pushing 50 now. I was never able to lift the bow with using the trim on the engine. The nose was very heavy and I had a hard time breaking loose from smooth water. Last time out that all changed, the plates aren't pushing the nose down anymore. It was hard to get between 90 & 100 with the tabs down. Now its easy but I have to learn how to fly it all over again.
Those plates were acting as trim tabs pushing the bow down, and now with them flush with the tunnel like most HST's it breaks loose like it supposed to do. My boat came with those aluminum tabs, but they are longer and would stick out another 8 inches out the back. Never put them on, but still have them. If those are factory I think they were cut at some point.

As for the davits my rear eyes came out years ago too, and I just glassed the holes up. I have eyes built into my setback plate for ropes. I was think for my davits to build two long bunks to go down the tunnels to pick it up and set it on my dock.
