Made a big difference. I bought this boat when I was 25 , I'm pushing 50 now. I was never able to lift the bow with using the trim on the engine. The nose was very heavy and I had a hard time breaking loose from smooth water. Last time out that all changed, the plates aren't pushing the nose down anymore. It was hard to get between 90 & 100 with the tabs down. Now its easy but I have to learn how to fly it all over again.
Those plates were acting as trim tabs pushing the bow down, and now with them flush with the tunnel like most HST's it breaks loose like it supposed to do. My boat came with those aluminum tabs, but they are longer and would stick out another 8 inches out the back. Never put them on, but still have them. If those are factory I think they were cut at some point.

As for the davits my rear eyes came out years ago too, and I just glassed the holes up. I have eyes built into my setback plate for ropes. I was think for my davits to build two long bunks to go down the tunnels to pick it up and set it on my dock.

You are def. need to learn to fly that HST. Only 110mph...
I'm kidding. Thats a real nice number! Wonder what your weighs. You should put it on the scales one time. I guess it's light...

Is it a full interior? Your should take some action shots or movie. Not many get 110 out of their HST...

No kidding. I'm 100hp short of that number; and I don't think mine's that heavy... but you can only do so much with 200hp.

Just the old HST guys, I guess.

I cut out a lexan plate to make a sort of "skid planer" to get some more lift in the stern without adding a bunch of weight... but I don't know yet.

David, you made it so try it. You have a 200 right? What setup and speed?

Nick: Lets say that the fact I haven't post updates in the resto thread doesn't mean I haven't made any progress.... More to come later!

It was basically a stock carb 200 2.4L motor with CLE, I think it was back 8" when I got it... 88 mph. Motor is apart now, no compression on two holes... but I'll test the plate when I get time; and the cone on the lower unit. Boat is lighter now and will have more hp, so it should run in the 90's now I think.

88mph is quite good for a 200 if you ask me! What prop?

Some big-ear chopper (28P Chopper II maybe?) that came with it. I've only had it in the water maybe 5 times in the 12 years I've had it. I have other props I would like to try on it, but I have to figure out this Hynautic steering and fix the motor first.

It's actually reasonably light for an HST, weighed 1460# with anchor, 5 vests, fire extinguisher, ski pylon, stereo, etc... without fuel, oil, spare prop or driver. (Still has all the foam.) I'm figuring 1865# full of fuel with me in it.

    Hi,

I'm fairly new to HST's. I had mine for the past three years and have some weird issues.

I will be back later today to explain and I'm sure we'll be abble to get it running great.

I also am new to HST(In the last year) Somehow ended up with 2 HST's. The one I'm currently running is a Black Bruiser jel sceme full interior with a
3ltr 200 Evinrude/Johnson 20" Vindicator mid 14in setback. It's a blast to fly. I love it. It has the aluminum plates at the extentions as well. It also has extra lifting strakes on the outside sponsons my other one doesn't have. No aluminum plates on the extentions on the white one either. The center Stepped Pod/pad is the same on both.

The other(white with red, grey, black, multi color sceme) I'm restoring so its lighter, stronger and hot rodding a Rude 3.4ltr w/16in mid for it. Still at least a month out on this one before I get her wet again.

    Tony
