Looking at that link... WTF is wrong with trailer manufacturers to think ANYONE would ever see those taillights before putting the skeg through the hood of their car? Anyone in a truck would never see them... and just WOW!!!

I appreciate all the feedback... I am about to post an order on four Mercury V12 600hp, two V10 425hp outboards with all the harnesses, helm controls and thinking of sticking a 15" mid 300R in there for myself. So do I build a new toy or just buy something to turn-it-up a few notches!!??

Hard to beat a Bullet or Allison with some pire on the back. Once that boy got outside your wake he was gone! Good stuff. RR

I might be biased but on a blue collar budget for a good all arounder 20ft boat its really hard to beat an Allison XB03 or Grandsport... Pretty fast for a V-bottom, lots of storage, fantastic wind protection. Room for 5 PPL if you put them 3 wide in the back. Don't have to worry about where you step on the boat. Fantastic build quality. Ect... The 300R is a little heavy for them but ppl have done it and the 15" will get that center of gravity down..

You can also get an XB21 Allison with the same Pro Sport console design as the XB03 so you keep that fantastic wind protection and the 300R is a great match for that hull.

Now no offense, but it looks like you have a few pennies to rub together... So if I had your kind of money I'd be ordering a new Tuff 25 to hang that 15" 300R on... I wouldn't think twice.

Stretching the blue collar budget for a grand sport lol, but yea to me that's the obtainable holy grail pad bottom boat.

Oh I hear what your saying there.. But comparatively speaking.. You can get a Grandsport with a nice Promax and a sporty as a turn key package for less than the cost of a new 15” 300R or 15” 200R for that matter by itself.

You definitely have a point there. When OP started the thread I thought that was about the direction this would go then I started reading a bit further lol.

Agree. That confused me. The discussion went from "under 20 feet", to gigantic heavy motors that no under-20-footer would have a hope of floating.

Allison is one hell of a Great V Bottom. Ziemer, Jr. had a Grand Sport that ran 108 with a stock 260.

Does anyone know if Darris had access to any engineering tools, like CFD or high speed water tanks? Or was he just a natural like Kelly Johnson.
