Some of youse guys can't read, or maybe just ignore the OP's question. He said UNDER 20'. A 20 footer isn't UNDER 20'.

He said 19 ish footer. No exact dimensions were given. How about a NINETEEN foot Action Marine? Nice boat that could handle a 15'' mid. They vary by model from 19'10'' to a 19'5''. Close enough?

    TOO FUNNY...

    You're stuck down under

2 months ago a friend was very lucky, when It hooked he ended up on shore going past pine trees and Palmetto's

He was bloody, but not broken.

I saw Glenn Reynolds take out a 1/4 master in a 1/4 mile race, guy got cut up BAD.

That's why their nick name is "HOOKERS"

If you back out too fast the bow drops and since there is no bend in the keel design the front part of the keel drops and to the right you go.

I guess you know nothing about Allison's

I always thought the "pencil roll" making too much lift was the hooker part. Lift the stern and they swap ends.

I just figured any V bottom will hook if you push it too far. Allisons are faster than most and get pushed farther.

Must have added wax to the resin between layers,

Seriously fiberglass work is quite simple, I don't understand how they had such problems,

Use Ashland Vinyl Ester, get the air out, simple

I used 2 layers of mat 2 and two of 1708, and I was told that was overkill

Wally Lamkin said he used mat and 2 of 1208

How did they mess up so bad ?

No sir it is the straight Keel, Wally Lamkin got sued by Allison early on for splashing,

Triad 21, Wally won, he said he also changed the keel area a little, so his design (improvement) never hooked

Wally was the one who understood the reason for the hook, Wally said, just a little change in the keel area is all that's need to make them

safer. Wally was a great Talented man, He's the only one that did West Coast Gel in the mold on the east coast.

You would be surprised how much effect that little lip makes,

My design was 11.5 inches flat, like the Triad DR20, neither boat ever hooked,

Almost drives like a real tunnel hull, the side sponsons on the DR20 and the Cuda prevented any spin outs

But I had the lip / roll along the sides not the back like Allison's

The first time I did a small lip all the way to the rear,

I ended up sanding off the last 2.5 inches because that little bitty lip prevented the bow from rising,

I was amazed how much force was created by that little side lip,

I have 2 very different hull molds, one deck.

I think any v will hook when flyin the piss out of em. Allisons can be worse because of the keel design. That design also is the reason they do better in the snot than a lot of other boats their size & weight. Aways a trade off. You just have to be really careful & patient when trying for big numbers in the Alli. You'll need some luck on race day to beat one. RR

For your Information, any boat under 20 feet has to abide by USCG regulations, we are talking about having proper flotation, front and rear to keep it afloat, over 20 ft you don't, also You have Max HP, which is nothing more than a math calculation, has nothing to do with design or structure of boat,

So a 19 ft boat that is 7 ft wide gives 266 HP max a 20 ft 7 wide gives you 280 hp max

    Over 20ft no stupid rule,

He want's to install 300r , Insurance and USCG prevents

I'll be out soon, painting # 1 boat the red one, white AWL grip, It will have a fresh 300XS 15 inch, An old friend Brent wants to try a top speed run, he has top end props and the need to reach top speed, I have never set up a boat up for top a speed run, I've been 115mph a bunch, but after flipping my 400 lb Sleekcraft in 1985, I have NO urge to get wet again.

I hooked my Vking first time out with the lwp last year. Jacked too high. Prop is an ars lifter. Corner too fast around 70 going in. Went rubbery faster than I had a feel for. Blew out and the ass end started to wrap around the front. About halfway through this rapid motion it became a frisbee and went airborne and seemed to just kinda fly sideways until it landed with a resounding thud completing the 160 or so degree turn. Took on a bunch of water but otherwise all good. After that I started to granny speed those turns. Got the jackplate trick figured out now. It’s back to hammer down
