Beast from the east finally arrived —snow—sleet and bitterly cold rain, set for the rest of the week.
Still wobbly as a bloody old Kelly—- wind does me no good at all.
Tried keeping busy in the shop —didn’t work. Tried writing more of the book—-that didnt work either so I’m playing with the iPad for a change.!!!!!!

...about 30 years ago there was direct, matter of fact, saying in society, that was popular with some of the youth then. "life's a bitch, and then you die". i try not to repeat it, cause it seems heartless...yet so very true...

All the contenders look very much like each other. America has four of these which will race against each other until one of them is chosen as the final contender .Swiss team RED BULL has three to pick from .
Now these boats are anything but “CHEAP” — so why would the daft buggers make a statement like “Fixed design to keep costs down”. Where these come from, nobody gives a flying fart about cost !!!!! The pot is a bottomless pit !!!!!
Was a time when”THE AMERICAS CUP” was a Rich gentlemen’s sport !!!!!!! Far removed from todays competition .
Not by the longest stretch of imagination can these be called “BOATS” ——-nor are the SAILS exactly that any more ???????
As for the hydrofoils ????? When is a boat not a boat ????? Boats use water —— are either in or out of the water. Sails were always made out of some sort of cloth ——-not compounds or metal !!!!
What we are seeing today is not an americas cup sailboat, but a progression of advanced water propulsion without used a motorised device .
Just saying—-everyone’s entitled to their own opinion !!!!!!Click image for larger version.

That’s simply my take on any one of todays AMERICAS CUP BOATS . Not a copy —replica or scale model, just an old farts fernagling.
Everyone is entitled to comment—so please do.!!!!!

England and the English are a hard act to understand to anyone not actually Born on the island !
We have traditions—-customs—-dialects dating back thousands of years. English language is a strange mix of many others but generally speaking its made up of Latin and french [open for debate of course].
you only touch on a few power boat drivers Roy that you knew or knew of, whereas in fact there were hundreds of them— i knew of most of them but not all .
I knew a lot of Europeans and Australians——Far Eastern and north and South Americans.
Its what idid for many years , Race Boats. Giving me a wonderful life.

By the way Roy it’s RAY BULMAN ——-and ALF BULLEN —Just saying !!!!!
Ray BULMAN was just about the only journalist who actually knew what he was writing about—most of the other reporters were “WANNABEES” who could never get it right.

ALFIE ?????????? DO NOT EVEN GO DOWN THAT ROAD —- HE IS A BOOK ON HIS OWN— I AM VERY CAREFUL WHENEVER HIS NAME COMES UP.

less Mr Bullen later in the day at Bristol did take the time and trouble explain the finer points of hull design and showed great patience answering my what have been inane questions.
