It’s like Halloween
At one time I probably scared a lot of people in south Florida for various reasons. But it was all in good fun

Hells teeth charlie was just the same with me —— all i ever wanted was to learn to be a good dancer and play the guitar. I would have died happy —just didnt move in that direction .
Was the hard nosed kid on the street —- cock of the walk , could beat any kid i knew in a fair fight and that stuck with me for the rest of my life .
In actual fact i am the softest person you will ever meet and dislike fighting intensely, whilst i wont offer the other cheek —- i will walk away these days .

History is often shrouded in mystery and secrecy—- none more so than powerboating in the 60/s and 70/s . Gene—-Odell —Cadillac —Alfie Bullen—-GG—-Pruett ,-Charlie [amberjack] and SIROIS have all gently touched on the nasty side of Florida and the hefty cash flow around that time . Nobody yet has documented much ======even BROWNIE only hinted at it in his book “THUNDERBOAT ROW” .
Will have to think on it ——- trouble is , a lot of those involved have kin still alive so will be living like nuns with clam like mouths.

Did manage a couple of thousand words on key west 2022, but ive only just scratched the surface . Means the damned book s going to be postponed again.

...not worth talk'n about the nasty side. could tell you plenty, but just not worth it. some literally unbelievable. some people are still alive so it can't happen due to embarrasment and/or retaliation. wish we could though. there are a few on this very board, that i know of, that could tell some serious stories, that will never come to light...

I was at this particular APBA MEETING. there was $10,000 to the good in George Maralles Account. Ben and Jack Kramer were also there.?????????

The man himself — always had a camel wedged in his mouth—used to get through two packs a day -he didnt buy the usual ten pack cartons —- he bought boxes of cartons !!!!!
If i told you one tenth of the stuff he got up to just in the time i was with him, i would probably be A-found in an alley full of unmentionables [me not the alley] and B, nobody would ever believe me anyway !!!!!!!!

Just been reminded there were four BENSON AND HEDGES DRIVERS —-
Well yes there was, if you count VALDANO and the MOLINARI painted Gold . He was never part of the original three .
Made up the numbers to fulfil the contract with the tobacco company .
I’m not going down that route — these are just CONCEPTS of the three original Velden.
As far as i know no one ever attempted all three in one collection.
Not trying to even make a point — just attempting to fernagle 3 concepts of something that was “ in my time” and no one has attempted .

Still very raw cold here —5 below at the car boot this morning and far too cold to go foraging round the scrapyard after.
will give the SUPERSHED another miss today— thought i caught a glimpse of the old hooded bastard with a scythe over his shoulder at the car boot—need to steer well clear of him during these bitterly cold mornings.
Think i might have found the answer to the three Velden Benson & Hedges concepts. Thats for next time i manage to get into the shop.

STILL BITTERLY COLD HERE —- so i bought a fork lift at the car boot —- nearly bought a Westwood “ “biggie”. —13 hp ????? Simply no way i could get it home . Managed to get the lifter home ————
