I drove a Rescue Unit for several years in the 70s and a Chief's car (we didn't have drivers) for many years after that. Running 3 Signals gets old after a while. It is like playing Russian roulette with traffic. I was fortunate to have never had an incident myself but my department had plenty of them. In 1976 the Lieutenant who relieved me one morning was killed in an accident by lunch time.

There are unmistaken differences between the leisure activities of a young champion and an elder British champion.
One is still daring, and the other is reaping the rewards of a senior citizen.

Well-its a week since the Goodwood meeting. Took me most of the time to get over it physically— but i wont forget for the rest of my life . Just shows that adventures can still happen even to an older person. My big problem is that i dont feel old . [until noon]. I still think like i did at eighteen. I cant understand how how a grass cutter takes so much effort !!!!!!! I only use a „“ride on“ these days.
i will never again enjoy the misery and elation of changing a wheel on the trusty Lexus — backache for a week after the task is simply not worth it.
i will show you the things i manage to do and fernagle that do give me a great deal of pleasure . Restoring the street lamp was one of them.
Selling an antique dealer nine of the offshore concepts at one time gave me mixed feelings —-triumph -but with a little regret . Then great satisfaction seeing them in his shop window with an eye watering price tag.
sold the best offshore creation i ever did——-solid alloy- With regret —- so i just made another .

Just a corner of my living room—- English oak chest is something i FERNAGLED some 35 years ago from my daughters discarded garden fence —— globe is recent scrapyard acquisition—- whaletail i did years ago and the guitar was a 90th birthday present from one of my grandkids . Just haven’t found the time to learn the damn thing yet . Soon as i do -i will compose another Wanderin star — sit back and spend the royalties .

They say you learn something new every day—— i had never even heard of that incident Gene —- but then again i had never even been to the USA until november 1969.

my life changed dramatically after that first visit in many -many ways.

They still hold the bragging rights to the safest mode of transport ??????????
Total chaos over here at all airports —- staff are suddenly sick with covid —hundreds of flights cancelled . Would be holiday makers spending two days in an airport lounge piled three bodies high.
What a way to spend easter , especiallynwhen we are having a heat wave for the next four days.
well be a feckin long time before i go travelling again—then it will only be business class . They dont puke as often as in cattle class.
