Ok Phill, But that doesnt explain the “WORLD CLASS” boat racer James that Johnno was referring to!

Been going like an express train this morning, roughed out an RS JONRUDE separate Powerhead, mid and gearcase. all out of solid. Its “THE NERSTROM” Couldnt figure out what to call it. But this seemed to stick. By the way Johnno, im billing you with this one! OOPS i bet that hurt didnt it?
Rates have always been either reasonable or non existent, be a change to actually make a shilling or two towards the timber and scrap metal!

I attended that race. Those boats were just SE boats. Power was 49 in OMC 3 cyl motors. The racing was unimpressive. Some of those guys just couldn't come to terms with the limited power available and some obviously suffered from lack of seat time in those small tunnels. Lars Strom has lamented that he was not able to get a seat in that race. As a long time SE driver I could name a number of drivers that could have improved that race.

It’s beautiful, but a stone bitch to work. Plus, I’m not that clever, made the sponsons, polished up an aluminium tunnel. Half way there without really trying . Why do i put myself in these ridiculous situations. Never will get around to tidying up the shop.
Remember the twenty SEEBOLD tunnels that lined up at the Miami Marine stadium, each had identical motors. Think they were 850 Three pot RS OMC’S.
Nice looking rig, fairly reliable, had a lovely bottom end and looked the part. Ran 85/90 but all the owners swore on a stack of bibles they once saw a 100.
Was a strong field of runners ( all OMC drivers of course) including Renato, Cees, Jenks, and an upstart called Bill Muncey or something like that who was inconsiderate enough to bugger off into the long distance and win. ( so I believe).
Anyway Johnno, i thought it would be of more interest to Jim NERSTROM, to have something like that as a concept, with a really nice “Quickie” gear case !
This time , it would have an outstanding bottom end, not just a “Cute” one.

Whoa there, I can see we have to push the reset button here as I can see things getting thoroughly confused. Mr Sheldon nice to hear from you as always but I fear Jackie reads every other or even every third word of these posts through the bottom of a glass of CC7 (Interesting that because my favourite drink is a CCCD by far the better drink but Jackie obviously has to go his own way as anyone who knows of the Cosworth would realize.) Couple that with time and my posts are often short due to other more pressing things and I can see how things get bent out of shape. I am world class at nothing and was such an insignificant participant in Powerboat racing as to not even be worthy of a mention. My son does not work at Lotus, Johnno you got that one wrong, but I am immensely proud that he works for McLaren if only for the fact that he gave up something he loved and knuckled down to his education and got his dream job. He did have a couple of Speed Records and a few Championships and while committed never competed on the international circuit. I also have nothing to do with Bluebirds restoration, but I do have a close family member that has a very cool job with them that I'm jealous as hell about, so don't talk about it. Oh and he also was pretty quick in a boat and held or still holds multiple catamaran records that even now are impressive speeds. Finally I'm not being mysterious but very rarely use my name online because of all those scammy little toerags that keep trying to extract money from me.

Well techteam, sorry I screwed it up. Lotus or McLaren. still pretty impressive. I was trying to give you credit for the pencil drawing instead of the Merc advertising guy. Jackie with his CC7 interpreted it wrong and assumed Fug. had it and you were some long time European racer that he must have known. You didn't take credit however, for being one one the most knowledgeable Rotary engine people in the UK. Hope all is going well with you and Ann. John

Johnno you dont ever have to apologise to me for any little Feaux Pas .Afraid as i grow older, i make more and more, sad part is, at the time, im absolutely certain that the statement was gospel. Yes i did think it was a drawing Fuji had conjured up. I had never seen it before, and i was suitably impressed .
Still have to disagree with Tech Team about CCCD being a better drink than CC7, But what the hell Johnno , if i didnt disagree with everyone, it wouldnt be me would it.
I will never ever repeat this , but i have always thought that the rotory was a wonderful idea once the boffins got it right . Its just taking a bloody long time. (what is it? 110years up to now).
England is a small place and powerboating is such a close knit community that im conceited enough to imagine i know everyone that ever even thought of racing. i dont of course, so i apologise for my temerity.
My sisters daughters husband was a truck driver for Maclarens for many years. He hauled the hospitality unit all over the world . Just saying !!!!

...Gene Lanham, just accidentally came across Kiekhaefer AeroMarine 1 for sale in south Miami(Kendall). Have to show you pictures before they disappear. Very sad state of affairs but wanted to share them quick. Asking price on the original trailer: $8,500.00 dollars on Craigslist...Too far gone for most people. Well...here ya go...
