Try to stay safe Jackie, we are in the most vulnerable group (we're old). Stay inside and, other than the laptop you pound on, stay away from power equipment. If you keep cutting digits off you won't be able to tell your story of Paris 1970, and there are still a few souls on this planet that have not heard you articulate how it really happened.

Which one is the Paris trophy ......

No William, I’m not looking for a correction, or an apology —— I never was.
I was simply pissed off at being blamed for something that was not my fault.
I knew from the start that the result was a timing error——( timing arrangements in Paris were a bit archaic to put it mildly ).
I never remember who I passed in a race——- only the ones who passed me.
Wasnt until I went to Havasu that I learned how timing should be done——- it was a million miles from the European system.
So no Bill—— I haven’t ever dwelled on it—— I was saddened by it—— it was the end of a great friendship with the Molinari family——- I had sat at the Molinari table many times and always been made welcome ( yes, the tale of Angelo, the napkin and the black sprint really was true).
I had watched Renato grow from a snotty nosed kid to one of the greatest power boat drivers of all time, it was much more than just a race thing!
Im sure you still remember the inquest at the GeorgeV Hotel——— you should—- it went on until midnight—- everyone blaming everyone else for not winning— Alex held the meeting together pretty well, Gary was not blamed for anything!
What was noticeable —— forever after that Mercury arranged its own timing ?
There is no Paris Pot——Renato kept the trophy—- I hung the second place medal in the workshop, where its been ever since, as I said before—— it never made the cabinet!
I gave all the trophies away—— they are good for a while —- then you move on to the next race- !
After thirty years of looking and polishing they had to go——- “There are concepts in my life—- pretty concepts that ——————-You know what I mean Willa.
Take care my friend, we are a dying breed!
I Know Johnny Sanders is still alive and well—— anyone know if Tommy Posey’s still about?
Wonderful people who I always had the greatest respect for—- and that includes all the old OMC drivers, crew, and personnel!
Sorry—- Im rambling again—- just been on a trip down memory lane—— Pruett came to mind and screwed the whole deal!

Jackie: Tommy Posey has passed, as has Allen Yah. Barry Woods had a stroke and is confined to a wheel chair. You know about Jimbo of course. I believe Mike Downard is still around, but I don't know anything about James Beard. Rich McKinley and Bobby Witt also have passed. Thats all of my rotary drivers.

Many thanks for that Johnno—- sorry to hear about Tom Posey, didn’t he live in ABILENE ?—- heard all about Barry Woods.
James died many years ago, far too early—— he fought off leukaemia for years.
I heard that Jimbo and Kathy were doing fine ?

Rich passed about 1 - 2 years ago as did Bob Witt.

Bowling was not something that interested me—- Collie Coulson was a champion at it—— played for England——— all the trophies were from boat racing!
Once I raced a boat, I was hooked. Stopped playing soccer and cricket for ever. Once you get the bug, you’re stuck with it for life—— as it says in the bible——- sins of the father shall be handed down to the sons of the third and fourth generation ????

Sun came up—— and the sun went down—— this little ole world kept on going around——- just because half the cabinet went down with the Coronavirus didn’t change a damn thing.
I had a day in the shop, nearly back to normal.
Didget is now “Custard free” ——- dry as a bone—- but the next hospital visit has been put on hold.
Nurse was then going to come to my house—— but that’s been put on hold for the duration.
Walking was never my forte—- I’m a home bird and my walking extends as far as the shop!
Now the kitchen goddess walks for miles with “Indy”—- I only do it in emergencies—- and under protest. Afraid you can get arrested and fine £1,000 if the journey breaks the quarantine rules.
You beginning to get the idea? —- the reason I stay home in the shop!
Price of petrol has dropped by 15% this last week—— its down to £1-10p —— Saudis and Russkies are chucking themselves off thick pile carpets in despair——- was rumoured that there were fewer at the casino last night——- takings were down by the odd few billions !
Itll have to come down to a realistic price of 50 pence a gallon before I start celebrating—— for the colonials info only, Click image for larger version.

ID:	461549 gasoline prices in England is still around $5:50 per gallon.

Thats the present project—- the “PEARL OF THE EAST—- I’ll keep you informed on a daily basis , if I make much progress—- but I have slowed Down a lot.
