    I will post soon, Jackie
Wow—— this gets more interesting by the day Gene——- wonder what the final tally will be for Magoon boats.
Were you involved in all of them?—— Rick La Mort was involved in the transatlantic Citicorp Traveler, But I didn’t read a lot about you Gene !

Made a Right royal cock up today—— managed to cover all three boats with a coat of ALIEN white paint——— managed to totally screw up the paintwork.
Me and paintwork just don’t gel somehow—— Had a dentists appointment and I got a little distracted.
Again I don’t like dentists—- but I have learned over the years to never piss of a dentist !
How the hell I managed to screw all the boats is beyond me—— Afraid there won’t be any picks before next week.
I got serious reparations to do!

Of course it is Gene—— I just didn’t let my mind roam free——- I tried to push into logical thinking—- we are all guilty of guiding our minds instead of letting them run free and finding the answers without really trying !
If i just get a picture in front of me of the next project—— then the rest is up to the hands—- the tools I’ve got——- and the imagination.
More often than not,, the imagination runs riot and the finished article winds up nothing like the original picture——— but how I imagine it should have been in the first place!
Thats the reason I don’t do “Models” ! I don’t have the ability or the inclination——- so what you see is what you get in the end.
Still—— things are not too bad——— a bit of arthritis——- a touch of gout—— a smattering of Diabetes—— a few Simvastatins——— couple of betablockers——and those damn Statins . A new hearing aid for the one good lughole and a half aspirin, do need a couple of large shots at the end of each day to get me through the night ?
Will be as old as you later this month Gene, who would have ever guessed we’d make it this far——- thought I worked hard until I retired at 50—- been chasing my tail ever since—— that’s when the real hard work started.
You got the MALIBUSTANG ready for take off yet ?

    !
    Thanks for noticing Jackie--

After we succeeded in setting the NY Record ---I was DONE--I realized I only had a few more years before I was eligible for my full retirement from the Miami Fire Department----
    if I didn't screw up.

These projects take a huge amount of work and a complete commitment

    And--after 25 years--it wasn't fun anymore!!

I bet you've heard similar words from Mark

I can relate to that Gene, Paris 1979—- Mark and I drove the six hours as a team.
First time in my life I knowingly drove over my head——- realised then Mark was quicker than me and it was time to call it a day.
Stepped away from racing as a driver and never ever got back in a race boat. Nobody believed me—— Jenkins —- Spalding—Percival—— all kept asking when I was going back ? I never did.
I had a good innings——— Mark and Craig were a good team for a while——- but now it’s just Craig !
Although he does have three boys that look promising!
There is no “CHEAP” way to go boat racing——- there never was——— it’s an all consuming sport—— either commit or don’t do it.
You made the right decision and so did I——— I have no regrets, don’t suppose you have either—— both of us made old bones——— I often look at the casualty list and thank God I got away with it !

Ok Pilgrim, this ones for you—— Talked to Craig on the full history of P1.

P1 took over where The Honda series left off——- the Honda’s had the old Cougar hull which were dropped in favour of the Fountain hull based on the 35’.
All the Boats next year will have the Fountain hull with the new deck!

He reckons there have been some top flight drivers who have found the boat quite a tidy handful,
It takes a time to get acclimatised to the traits of the P1——

Have to tell you Pilgrim—— my grandson is as good as it gets in the saddle of a P1——- I’ve watched him win in a slower boat than others had——- it’s a boat you have to drive the nuts off !

Hope this answers your questions——- ask again if there’s anything I’ve missed .

Had a full day in the shop——-trying to make good a pigs ear of a paint job is not easy.
Decided to do all the items above deck in one piece——— saw it once in an old film I remembered
“ALL MY SONS”. with Edward G. Robinson.—— works well.
Thought out most things—— the decals are proving tiresome, but I’ll nail’em never fear !
Picked out a great mount for the “Citicorp Traveler “—— It has to be the dogs cajones—— might as well try and get the first Magoon boat something about right!

So for this year old cougar hull and 2020 new hull?
Single engine vee bottom, love them, takes skill to drive.

Not quite right Pilgrim———- the hull for the last few years is a FOUNTAIN——— Taken from the 35 foot!
Thats what Craig says——— it takes a lot of skill to drive a P1.
New Donzi Forty four is ready for testing—— really does look the dogs cajones—— sometime next week I’ll be allowed to post some pictures———- ( unless Iconic decide no pictures before the Miami Boat Show in mid February)
Got another full day in the shop. Today————- should make big inroads into the Magoon Project——- I’ve made one or two major cock ups in the early stages, mainly because I have been too fussy over the details.
The model makers are so perfect down to the last detail—— Afraid Im not—— but then again, it’s a bit like the difference between a photo and a painting——- you want a “MODEL” or a “CONCEPT”. .

Gene—— I have to ask you—— what the hell are we going to do with the eight/ ten Magoon boats you were instrumental in? I mean the real thing— not the models.
They wont ever make the “SMITHSONIAN”—— and her majesty won’t have them in the house ( only through lack of space I’m told—- but you and I know different !
Feels like things are nearly back to normal——- I’m dropping things —— and stumbling—- and forgetting things better than I ever did! Her indoors is getting crosser than ever—— up side is——— the new hearing aid is magic ——— I can hear the birds singing and farting——-the traffic noise from the A27——- also I hear stuff I’m not supposed to hear——— May have to put amendments in the will?
Cant lie here all morning cogitating—— have a bunch of stuff to see to.
Grandson Simon coming down today to show me how to pull props out of the three Dee printer!

Sunday sunset at Elmer Sands——- Sammy and me and a dropping sun !
Watched the sun go down and the moon come up———- right there on the sands—- total eclipse tonight——- so I’m told.
Supposed to be a red moon tonight—— if I see it I’ll tell you!
Did get three hours in the shop this morning——— project Trundling along nicely .
