Phill——- this site is called “Tricks that old retired boat racers get up to”—— I’m retired——- old—— I’m so old I’m one of the “Few” left standing———- they don’t even charge me for medication——- or a TV licence————— even the hookers in Soho don’t charge me, so live with it !

Well, I went back in last night, just to check everything was going to plan———- at 2100 hrs , she’s under surgeons orders which is nil by mouth———— I asked what time operations went on for ? Was told it’s 24 hrs non stop——- it’s now 5:30am and I just called her———- no news, bad night and the surgeons never appeared.
Dogs been fed——- I’ll be up at 6:30 and take her up the woods for a walk, get breakfast, clear up and get back to the hospital—————- sun comes up, and the sun goes down——- this old world keeps going around—————-life gets tedious don’t it?
Missed dinner last night——- was just too bushed to eat—— didn’t really feel hungry anyway——- maybe a swift half mile walk will bring my appetite back again!
Hoping to get some shop time in later this week———- project was going along nicely, but has been on hold the last couple of days!

[QUOTE=powerabout;3067490]tell us young fellas what the girls of the same sex are...[/QUOTE

Good question........Where I be folks often use words & sayings that are almost unknown to anyone from outside the locale... I suppose it goes back to the days when you could quickly ID a stranger by his lack of the local lingo.....

I think in my own instance it's probably just a case of not taking anything too seriously any more................lol.

It,s easy hiding behind keyboard to come back with snidey and potentially hurtful remarks...But I/we/us are a friendly bunch so we don't bother with that sort of thing. Indeed even when I see "leader" in that shorts/leg combination....and I think "umm must get a couple of bottles of milk on the way home"..I would never think of posting it.......Oh,wait a minu.....

Children——- quieten down ———- behave yourselves and talk to each other nicely—— Y’all know where the naughty step is !
Been at the hospital most of the day trying to find out what the hell is not going on ?
Jilly now in the isolation unit——- caught one of those high powered hospital bugs——- that lays you low and means surgeons keep you away from everybody and everything.
Result is———- no operation for a couple of days yet——- she’s still being fed liquids to stop hyperventilating ——— just hope they know that there’s a caged tiger in isolation. I can only keep her calm for so long before the Sh-t hits the fan——- then watch out———- Those doctor kids better get those stones out PDQ.
Talked with Billy on FaceTime today——— told me he met up with Roger H and Rich L and Downard in Springfield Ohio.
Reckons he’s hell bent on going to Tavares in November————- can’t see any way I’m going to make it, will have to see if I can get Bill and Betty Baker to organise a golf tourney and BBQ——- he just does do the best steaks ever!
End of a very long day ——— and tomorrow doesn’t look much different either!

Billy and Lynne and me got to talking about the size of the crowds at boat races———- the differences between way back then and now.
If you listen to Lassie Strom and Benny, you could be forgiven for thinking Pittsburgh in the eighties had a big following of fans with around 100,000 watching———- very good, but compare it to the Paris six hours with 150,000 watchers———- or Bristol with 250,000 !
Myself, ( and Billy ) are of the opinion that it was “the time”——— Today, Boat Racing does not have the following it did fifty years ago.
I recently watched footage of the F1 race in the London Docks———- Im pretty sure I recognised both spectators, but with an entry fee of Ł50, you are just not going to fill those empty places.
Even in the states at the NGK races——- spectators are noticeably absent.
Again, I think it’s a sign of the times !
When Lindenburgh flew the Atlantic, there were a million people greeted him when he landed————-
if anyone simulated the trip today, I doubt anyone would even look up, let alone meet and greet!
Ah well, time and tide waits for no man——- time to roll my RRRR’S——- the day beckons, dog to walk, Hospital to visit, breakfast to cook——— can’t row with my neighbor next door——- we buried her last week.
Afore Long Im going to have to take the mirror out into the shop if I want a fight with anyone————- “ TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGING”.

Asia is a place where its all new and you can get spectators for various things
F1 Cars in Malaysia, dead could have predicted that
any bike racing, packed could have predicted that
Water events, good crowds, its new
    1MDB, good sponsor

Lets see what Mr Singha Beer can do in Thailand with boat racing, seems to be creating a large following in various classes( I think its 100% his money, till you get hurt?)
I hear its just for bling with models and actors driving the boats, lots of photos of the pits.
Only good vid was a beginner going full bore down straight ( in F1boat) then just turning the wheel ( no trim in no back off)
I wonder what Kay Marshall would have to say now after having tasted it?
I assume she has fully recovered, there hasnt been any news?

Talked with Roy Cooper from “Fast on water”—— told me he hadn’t heard from Kay Marshall for a while, but she’s made a full recovery !
In the early days of Fonda, we raced in Singapore——— one of the sponsors was TIGER BEER.
IVE FORGOTTON THE NAME OF THE GUY IN CHARGE——- but he was Cantonese, took me to the horse racing track in Singapore. There were three tracks linked together—— Kuala Lumper—— Hong Kong and Singapore . I never saw so much money change hands in such a short while.
We has some wonderful races in Marina Bay——- half the sponsors came out of “CHANGE ALLEY”—— top of the range hookey gold Rolex could set you back over fifty dollars, and a top quality monkey suit
( cashmere and snow leopard ) was almost thirty dollars.
Some of the best eating houses in the world are in Singapore! And Pilgrim lives there!

Been a very frustrating sort of day——— Jilly has caught one of those hospital bugs and is in the isolation ward. Doctors won’t operate until she’s cleared———- maybe tomorrow (Thursday) ——— or it
could be Friday. She’s back on nil by mouth this evening.

Been on my own for nearly a week now——— don’t care much for it———- didn’t sign up to be a batchelor!
5:30am ——— Murphy bouncing all over me, demanding to be let out———- Indy barking to be fed——- then she’ll want a walk in the woods, was a time when I could just wake up, get a cup of tea———- pick up the iPad and see what’s going on in the world. Have a bit of fun on S&F, relax a little before the day proper started——— shower, leisurely breakfast and a few hours in the shop ???? It all seems like a lifetime ago————- that blasted helter skelter called life suddenly got ten degrees steeper————— have to be careful on the curves———- going far too quick for my liking !
Meeting my daughter Boo at the car boot——— grandson Charlie needs some more track for his Hornby train set up——- price of rails has gone through the window———- used to be shirt buttons, now it’s an arm and a leg !
Oh Craperootles—— it’s just started raining, that’s all I need, y’all have a good day——— mines just got off on totally the wrong foot.

All today’s chores done and dusted——- might get a few minutes to myself in the shop if I’m lucky !
