Nice quiet day in the shop———- put the finishing touches to the four engined rig———- Decided the gold paint needed a couple more coats ! Still crap at painting, shoulda sent it to Schubert——— he does it so much better.
Had a massive clear up ———- funny how I seem to accumulate so much junk which takes up valuable space———— need to be ruthless and oust all things “not wanted on voyage”.
Weather here is getting warmer and wetter———- raining again this morning——— not that it matters one iota———- the shops got a lid on it———- LED lights and a 750W fan heater if needs must.
Depending on how things go, I may commence putting the NGK trophy components together——— this one requires lateral thinking and a heap of trial and error———— I know where I’m going, but when will I get there I’m not certain, all that I know is I am on my way———— I GOT AN IDEA!

Stuck the last two two coats of gold paint on her———- reassembled with all the appropriate washers——- tightened it and signed it———-job done. Somebody will be glad to have GOLDRUSH sat on their desk.

The idea behind the NGK trophy is a “TOWER OF POWER”———- I have been saving a number of really nice model cars for a few years now———- picked em up mostly at car boot sales, these include a Bugatti——- 300 SL Mercedes———-AC Cobra——-and a race prepared E Type Jaguar——— Mostly “Brucado” Italian made collectors items .
I do have a box of brand fire new KLG plugs————— thought I might mount them somewhere in between on the classic cars, All reaching for the sky !
Like I said, I got an idea———- realising it and making it work is another thing!
If it comes together I’ll post you a piccie———- if it doesn’t, you’ll never see it.

Well, today I ate bear———-slow steady progression—— it’s all coming together nicely——- nothing dramatic , just coming together the way you hope. Have always been impressed with the Porche display at Goodwood——— thought along those lines for an NGK trophy——— think I backed a winner here.
Been fitting plugs onto the sculpture—— Lou and behold —— it looks to be working.
If it continues along these lines——- you’ll get a piccie or two

Well chuffed with progress yesterday——— even though it takes me a day to work an hour——- just ain’t the machine I used to be, that’s for sure.
Today we are having lunch at the “OUT OF THE BLUE” restaurant on Shoreham Beach——- Jilly works one day a week at the St. Wilfried’s Charity shop in Barnham and it’s a lunch for all her co workers and spouses. Afraid I’m not a very social person, but if I want to live to see another day I’d better be there. Eating and sleeping are ok, but it interferes with the real things in life.

That only happens in the movies Johnno———real life is what happened two years ago after selling a bunch of my concepts down at Key west for a big bag of gold, Felt absolutely full of my own importance———- headed home with a bulging wallet —————- left it on the airplane————- Menzies informed me they had found “something that may interest me”
Never heard from them again———- never saw my wallet, or driving licence——— credit card or cash again———- mostly $100 dollar bills.
Was too ashamed of my own stupidity to broadcast it from the rooftops!
That Johnno my friend is the real world.

Thursday again———- must be at least two of em in every week, anyway it’s car boot sale day——— foraging day—— seeking the MING or Lalique which usually turns up as a box of nuts and bolts or a six inch grinder in dire need of attention.Click image for larger version.

We have in England a period of weather called “THE BLACKTHORN WINTER “——- usually about six weeks. It’s when the blackthorn blossoms———- temperature drops and it’s bloody cold!
Well, that’s the blackthorn in full bloom——- above the heather——— so, in all probability we should get some decent weather towards the end of May.
Course——- it could just be some old wives tale——- all part of English folk lore!

Jackie. We will be based in London for about 3 days the first week of June. What do you recon can we expect in the weather department? Trying to figure what to pack for the trip. Have been in contact with the " Parham Airfield Museum" folks. They have been extremely helpful and we are going out there on June 6. Seems appropriate since my Dad flew 2 missions on this date 74 ago from this site.

June in England is known as “FLAMING JUNE” which means we should be having fine warm weather——- don’t bet the farm on it, but you should be good in a T shirt.
Be careful what you wish for——- was thinking to myself, my dad was slap bang in the middle of his flying career———— 36 ops mainly over Germany .
I don’t dare think too deeply into this—— I try not to travel down this road—— dad hardly ever spoke about his time in the RAF, didnt find out he won the DFC until twenty years after.
Have a great time and enjoy all your findings!
