    I'm curious too - I'll guess 105 MPH with the 300XS. Why not ...

Yes I ran it but I still need to do a lot of more testing. It ran 92. I know it is a heavier boat, but that makes it ride better. I have since put on a 6 inch Jack Plate instead of a 12-inch and I have cut a notch in the bottom to feed more water to the gearcase so I can raise the motor. It would not turn a 32"prop and the 28" was on the limiter so I am waiting for a 30 inch prop . I am waiting to get some new props now. Hopefully I can test it again next week

They normally ride about the same but the extra weight on this Talon may make it ride better

    Go get'm Wildman !!!!

Supposedly Talon would take one to 98 mph with a Merc 260 - having said that, Hotboat only saw 89 mph with the same set up.

Mine ran 101 with a promax 300 and Gary Armington and I weighed it and fully rigged it was right at 2000 lbs. My guess with a 300xs should be maybe at 102-104.

Any reason to doubt this? pg 2, Screaming Eagle Boats, 11-9-2016 post # 369

Well it is official, Joe Partyka's Talon 22 SS broke 110 mph. Todd and Joe believe there is more in it.

No matter what you post someone will always want to bash you. I have been playing with this boat all summer with different setups and was really frustrated with it at first. I was ready to throw the towel in but my buddy Curt and Todd from screaming eagle boats stayed on my ass. I was scared to make some drastic changes because I'm so hard headed sometimes. But I bit the bullet and made some big changes and they all worked. It did run 110 the last time I had it out but my gearcase went that day. I still believe that there is more left it it also. It's all in the setup and finding the right prop. I've spent countless hours and not to mention the $$$$ to get it where it is now. I believe the Mercury vessel view is accurate as it matched my other two GPS units I have also. Todd has my boat now and tried some different things that Mercury let him borrow with some good results also. I'm really excited for next year I can tell you that. Todd is a great guy to deal with on these boats. Randy's boat is heavier than what I'm running so I expected it to not run the speeds I am but like he said you get a better ride with a heavier boat also. I owned a 92 22 talon before this new one and my first day out I noticed a big difference between the two. This is my first had experience with this boat and I'm really happy with everything so far.

Not talking about anyone in particular. I've had a lot of questions doubting my numbers. Also thanks for the kind words Nice Pair :-)

I figured out how to get them all to read 110. Here is how I do it. I have my wife sit in the boat, start the engine, rev the crap out of it while my dually is towing it down the road at 110. I guess the gig is up. Oh well, I tried.

We work very hard to achieve the performance we do and usually what separates what we do and what others do is set up and we don't get cheap on props. Why would you spend all that money and then go cheap on the props? Makes no sense.

Randy's boat was built for heavier for rough water and a great ride. It is 95% cored everywhere with thicker core and glass than most the Talons we build.
