Thread: Shop heat??

Yep. I'm better w/the heat than the humidity.
I remember one day while finishing my Sonic down there, up and down a ladder all day. Weighed myself in the morning and weighed myself at the end of the day. Ate two sandwiches, two bananas and drank a gallon of water and still lost 9 pounds!
And I miss it every day :-)I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

when I go to quote I cant use the spacebar lol
the install is just as easy as a forced hot air unit.
Gas in, air intake, exhaust, thermostat wire, hang from chains.
I would always advise someone working in a shop to have fresh air intake and not use shop air for combustion , less chance of blowing yourself up
The downside of the tubes is if you have a very low ceiling you have to watch clearance or in that situation you install where the ceiling meets the wall on a 45.
I think they sell box units you can mount in the corner ?
open the door to move stuff and you dont instantly lose all your heat and no air blowing around all the timeRaybo Marine http://www.raybomarine.com/

Finally got and installed my new heater yesterday.
Only 24 hrs in but so far I really like it.
The two stage feature is slick, as is the wireless (as in portable) remote/thermostat.
Can adjust temp, set a run time timer, and fan only.
When it gets to within 2* of target temp it drops to the low side. When it hits temp it shuts off completely. When it maintains temp, 90% of time it does it on low side.
$750 for everything.
First real test was this morning. 28* outside temp, 38* inside (from overnight which I love).
Set the thermostat to 60* 50 mins later it was there.
Not bad for a 24" electric heater in 32' x 57' x 13' shop.
Was also playing w/my torpedo heater earlier for some base lines.
Once at target temp, it shut off then refired every ten mins and ran for one.
Simar ambient as yesterday/today w/elec.
Bad on the torpedo (besides sucking fuel) is blows a puff of smoke every time it fires and noisy as hell.
Also, it is 120k btu compared to 48k for new one so expecting it to run longer.
So far so good.Last edited by Instigator; 12-13-2016 at 10:27 AM.

That's an impressive heater to warm your place that fast. I like the remote thermostat.

What size breaker does that unit require? I was looking into tubes but now I think your route might be quick and easy.
