Flushed with success at taking on Apple, Brussels has turned its attention to McDonalds and Starbucks, they must be really missing the uk's £350,000,000 per day and decided to balance the books with US dollars. Go for it--------me, I'm just glad we're long gone from Brussels!

CTC is scheduled to run on Sunday 4th September. For those of you unable to make it to Cowes, I'm affraid you really are missing out!! No, jokes aside, the boats will be going past a number of good viewing points including Bournemouth pier. Estimated timings can be found here......hope some of you can catch the action in this historic race! There will also be the usual Yellowbrick viewing opportunity online....I'll post a link for that when available. http://cowestorquaycowes.co.uk/event-timings-2/

Great information Gene---------not exactly a full house for the actual CTC !
13 boats don't make for a thriller diller-------must have seen most of 'em last Friday in the Solent.
surprised just how many of the boats are dragged out of retirement, rebuilt, refurbished, remodelled then reborn. Certainly some bottom of the barrel scraping to make a race methinks!
Theres an old cigarette -------an old Fountain------an old Cougar------one thing I didn't see was a new raceboat ? Maybe it's a sign of the times !

BBC news tells us Trumps going ahead with the Mexico/USA wall----------hope he concretes the tunnels and dries out that little old river-------so who's doing the garden, and the pool, and picking the fruit and veg----------never forget the "kinetic" bit, You know the one-------for every action, there's a reaction?
When I was at school, we had morning assembly, said prayers, stood to salute the flag, called the teachers "Sir"------ misbehaved and got the cane, was smart mouthed and got a slap. Never told my sainted mother I had been punished-------she would have floored me!
Nowadays there's no discipline ------no punishment------no respect-----no manners, just a bloody stupid thing called "POLITICALLY CORRECT"
Normal law abiding citizens, usually old and long since retired, face hefty fines and even custodial sentences for simply stating simple truths because it is not considered PC ! Is it just me? Or has the world gone completely stark staring raving lunatically bonkers.?
Not to worry-----it's Thursday again tomorrow, summers over, Septembers here, we're back on the life ride again-----hang on.

Life's Ride-----'Tis better to have ridden it and hung on, than missed it or fallen off ? JRW.

    Just saying: Political Correctness

Political Correctness is a doctrine, recently fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of **** by the clean end!

You know what Gene--------that could be the same boat Richie Powers gave me a ride in, sometime in the '70/s.
Renato had the Martini sponsorship deal for circuit racing-------don't think he ever had an offshore deal !

Was surf'n around listening to various jazz songs on UTube and damn if I didn't find Jackie Wilson moonlighting as a BigBand director...probably to raise enough money to ship all those OFF trophies to Tavares.
See what you think....maybe he's related to Jan Molenaar

Hey,Roger, I once looked myself up on google ----------found that I'd changed colour--------but I could sing pretty good and I had frizzy curls !
Booked the ticket to Tavares yesterday along with two suitcases--------one for the golf trophies, the other for the "Concepts"-------- just the clothes I'll be stood up in!
Will still send you a box full of motors and boats, just to make sure some of the stuff gets there on time !
Stuff for Jim Hunt, Butch Stokes, Gene Langham, Ted Boyd etc, -----damned if I can remember half of the people I made stuff for, but it'll be alright on the night !

Was time for Murphy to have her monthly squirt of frontline which she hates with a passion ------she hid under the bed, with me in "hot pursuit" poking a broom at her, was laid full stretch on the floor, half under the bed, when the back muscles sized solid-------Jesus wept was that ever painful for the last two days.
Still . Lesson learned, at 84, do not go poking under the bed with a broom to shift a bloody cantankerous pussy cat, it's not PC.

Jackie, Thank you for your generious offer, but I will have to pass. I can restore "existing" object, but creating concepts from scratch is way above my pay grade...and my ability. You are the master of concept creations

How's about just putting the finish to a couple of the wooden Switzers-----I'm total crap at painting.
Me, Rembrandt, Picasso Michelangelo, Van Gough, don't have a single thing in common------ paint and me, we don't agree !
One of my oldest friends is a guy called Adam Laszczar-------when he was seven years old, him and his eleven year old brother were put on a train in Warsaw, bound for Siberia. They jumped off and over a period of five years, walked all the way to India ----- now, he does have a story worth listening to.
Bottom line is------in the early seventies, he had Hodges build him a 17' pickle-------we stitched a 1750 XS on its bum and raced it in London and then Paris. (But that's a story for another day) . My grandson Ben, owns and publishes a West Sussex magazine ------he just published Adams story and said "grandad, why don't you make Adam a concept of his boat?"---------so that's what I've been doing this last week.
Made an all metal concept, but it looked more like a cross between a Puey and a Seebold so that's joined the pile of cast offs that are SHEDBOUND,
this next one looks a bit more like it--------did it in Taiwanese mahogany------you know the stuff I mean-------nice to work with but a surface like a Tarpon Springs sponge. After 57 coats of "Hammerite" it still looks like the moons surface-------swear to God, this is the last boat I'll ever attempt to paint.
    Sherlock-------I may need you.
Had hoped to give this to Adam this weekend--------it ain't going to happen!

How do you know about Tarpon Spring sponges?

BTW...I hate painting as much as you do. I can't count the times that I have totally striped a piece, sanded it, primed it and painted it only to have some small flaw in the final painting. Then I have to re-strip it and repeat the process all over again. I am a bit anal when it come to my own work. The upside of that is that when I finally complete something, it is flawless. The downside is that I wind up re-doing a lot of my work, sometimes more than once, to get it perfect when 99% of the people would not even see the flaw. The problem is that I know there is a flaw and it haunts me until I get it right. I am my own worst enemy...

Snap, know the feeling well Bob. Mind you, me and "perfection" never quite had an organism or even got into bed----- once tried for "Moderate" --------had a modicum of success------enjoyed it immensely and stuck with her ever since-----I know my limitations!
Don't have enough time left to chase after perfection------she's way outa my league, so I stick to middle of the road and enjoy the ride.
