In 2000 they made one. I have one here. It’s a factory behind the liner 2.4. Not too many of those around.

    Thumbs up

You should try a behind the liner model with port work. It runs like a 2.5.

I know this a old post but thought I would share what I know of black max.first off the 1750 was the first v-6 merc I know of know of.the image used for black max is as I am told Lynn Yeager of the mountain home,ar area.at the time of the photo shoot for the 175 Lynn Yeager was the owner of oakland boat dock on bull shoals.as I am told by those who know the day of the shoot Yeager was told to gas on it and look straight ahead and not to look back.long story short he ran off and left the boats taking the pics and was kinda lost for a bit.yeager still lives in the area and still had the awesome look and profile of the legend we all love Black Max.if you find any of what I have shared to be inaccurate I apologize.it has been told to me by a couple of the men who were there.

That's the answer . It was a 2.0-liter 1750 that was introduced in late 1976. Remember that wacky trim ram setup?

I rigged some of the old v-6's. They had bolts for the engine mount with a hole going thru it for the power trim to connect inside the transom, and outside to the trim ram. Crude, but cool at the same time.

The first Merc V6 was the "1750", 1976 from what I recall. A 2.0 L 175 HP rated at the DRIVESHAFT, as the rules stated back then.
The Bridgeport horn EFI is rated at 240 HP at the propshaft (by today's rules) at 6500-7000 RPM, and this is also according to the manual.
They run well up into the low to mid 7's without trouble, but many turn them harder.
(The 245 was a later HP 2.5 carb motor by the way)
All 2.4 200 motors are chrome bore unless they have been re-sleeved.
There were several different versions of the 2.4 200 block especially in the early years: Fingerports vs none, two piece heads vs one, horizontal reed blocks vs vertical, etc.

    There was a 2.0 200 the European release of the XR-2 was a 200hp 2.0L

Since he's the engineer who designed the V-6 Merc he probably knows better then most.

No one said he was wrong, nor was I being disrespectful, dad.

By all means though, continue arguing with people who likely aren't even active. I'm out.
